Race 1: TONKIN STEEL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200M
1st – Love That Dragon 2nd – Spurparts 3rd – Clifford John 4th – Grey Ash

DEE JAY WHY [B Swaffer] was slow into stride.

CORDITE [W D’Avila] and GET BACK JOJO [G Cullen] jumped outwards at the start.

At the 1000m, CORDITE [W D’Avila] moved out and bumped GREY ASH [I Toward] forcing that runner wider on the track. Jockey D’Avila was reminded of his obligations to keep his mount straight.

STRICTLY AMAZING [N Bin Yadi] raced greenly in the straight.

Following this race, trainer F Wieland, master of apprentice N Bin Yadi, was allowed to view the film of the race as stewards held some concern over the manner in which N Bin Yadi rode STRICTLY AMAZING out in the straight. After viewing the film, and in consultation with the stewards, trainer F Wieland advised that he would endeavour to relay these concerns to his apprentice in an attempt to rectify them.

Race 2: ATHERTON AMCAL CHEMIST CLASS B HANDICAP 1400M
1st – King Among Kings 2nd – What’s Buzzing 3rd – Saquarra 4th – Bongiorno

ELIN [W D’Avila] and MADE IN AMERICA [G Cullen] were slow into stride.

Approaching the 800m, the saddle on MADE IN AMERICA [G Cullen] shifted, the jockey was then able to rectify the problem but rounding the home corner the saddle shifted again placing the jockey at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race.

Leaving the 800m, HUSK’N’HEARTBREAK [K Stone] which was over racing had to be eased off the heels of ELIN [W D’Avila].

UNICALEO [N Bin Yadi] raced wide throughout.

Trainer of WHAT’S BUZZING, G Baker, was questioned regarding why jockey I Toward returned to scale underweight. It was established that after weighing out, the surcingle had been changed to a smaller one, to accommodate the size of the horse, but in doing so it had changed the weight carried by the horse. Trainer G Baker was advised that in future, when changing any gear after weighing out, he should bring it all back to be reweighed.

Race 3: ATHERTON SHOWCASE JEWELLERS/ADINA WATCHES CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1200M
1st – Bob and Dolly 2nd – Fleur de Baie 3rd – Lady Lesia 4th – Melaina Rose

JUDICIAL [B Swaffer] was slow to begin and commenced to over race approaching the 800m mark.

LEGAL POSITION [F Edwards] jumped in and bumped LADY LESIA [N Bin Yadi] at the start.

MELAINA ROSE [W D’Avila] wanted to hang in for the entirety of the straight.

Race 4: CENTRAL TYRE SERVICE BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1100M .
1st- Seek de Fortune 2nd - In A Jam 3rd – Just Hustled 4th – Physics

CALL A CAB [N Bin Yadi] raced wide throughout the race.

Race 5: BARRON VALLEY HOTEL/XXXX CASTLEMAIN PERKINS ATHERTON CUP OPEN HANDICAP 2000M .
1st – Our Private Jet 2nd – Rothschild Lad 3rd – Mount Aspiring 4th – Thunder Lane

Correct weight was delayed to allow the connections of the 3rd placegetter, MOUNT ASPIRING, to view the film to ascertain if they wished to lodge a protest. After viewing the film, the connections wished to proceed with the protest against the winner, OUR PRIVATE JET alleging interference near the 50m. After hearing evidence from both parties, stewards could not be satisfied that the interference suffered by MOUNT ASPIRING was greater than the margin of a ½ neck by a length, and therefore the protest was dismissed.

Near the 50m mark, MOUNT ASPIRING [N Bin Yadi] had to be slightly eased when OUR PRIVATE JET [F Edwards] shifted in slightly. Major Rocketman (Wanderson D’avila) raced wide down the straight.

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED
