First race delayed 10 minutes by the late arrival of the ambulance.

Race 1 Maiden Handicap - 1100 Metres – 9 Starters
Gate slow on stall 5. Inside gate swung back onto LET’S ALIGHT. Both matters reported to the starter for action. HANDY JACK (R Skinner) slowly away.Approaching the 800m WHITE WATER RAFT (O Galea) shifted in slightly onto SHANI DAN (NZ) (K Ballard) inconveniencing that horse. MISS EXCLUSIVE (J Stephens) hung out rounding the home turn. Trainer R Lyons advised to take corrective action. I n moving out MISS EXCLUSIVE caused WHITE WATER RAFT out onto SHANI DAN (NZ).
Race 2 Super QRIS Class 2 Handicap - 1000 Metres – 13 Starters
Prior to the start stewards inspected soft spot at about the 250m mark. The course caretaker filled it with sand and rolled it hard. The track in that area was thoroughly inspected and no further soft spots were found.
Gate 4 failed to open causing CARRARA LAD (J Piper) to be denied a fair start. Stewards declared CARRARA LAD a non-runner and ordered all monies on that horse to be refunded. A deduction of 45c win and 25c place was ordered in accordance with the provisions of the Racing and Betting Act. Gat e 1 swung back from the inside causing FORBSIE (D Boland) to duck out sharply onto STAFINDALE (J Camilleri) Both horses were inconvenienced in the incident. The starter was instructed to inspect all gates and make the appropriate repairs prior to the next race. Shortly after the start BOBSCAY commenced to buck and dislodged jockey Brendan Richardson. Richardson appeared uninjured in the fall but reported some discomfort of the upper left arm. Trainer Bob Carolan advised that BOBSCAY would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to bring allowed to start again.SHELALLI ROAD (C Baker) attempted to lug from the 800m to the home turn. Brought to the attention of trainer S Iverson.
Race 3 Open Handicap - 1000 Metres- 14 Starters
S Oates replaced by A Williams when unable to make the required weight on ROMANOV. S Oates fined $50 TRUST CARD (N Coyne) jumped outwards coming into contact with BEST OF THE JILLYS (K Yoshida)

Race 4 Super QRIS Maiden Handicap – 1000 Metres- 13 Starters
S Oates replaced by A Williams when unable to make the required weight on I’M QUACK QUACK. S Oates fined $50 I’M QUACK QUACK (A Williams) slowly away and raced greenly. Trainer D Harvey advised to give that horse further barrier practice. . In the early stages TETRA SOO (appeared to race erratically and over the concluding stages J Cerchi appeared to be uncomfortable on that horse. JUST CLASSIC (O Galea ) shifted out over the last 50 metres slightly inconveniencing ESELTEE (T Austin)

Race 5 Class 6 Handicap – 1000 Metres- 7 Starters
PAINT THE SCENE scratched at payment time acting on veterinary advice. RHODES’ EXCUSE scratched at payment time when that horse papers were found not to be in order. LEGAL APPEAL (R McMASTER) slowly away. VALPECULAR (O Galea) lost ground sharply on the 800m corner. At a subsequent enquiry into the poor performance of that horse O Galea stated that the horse had reacted sharply when asked to turn the corner and did not gallop truly until straightening. Trainer T Broughton stated that he suspected the horse had knee problem and he would advise stewards if the horse showed any signs of soreness after cooling down. Vets inspection required prior to starting.


Race 6 Class 5 Handicap – 1200 Metres- 9 Starters
RULANA (P Thureson) and FOXROCK BOYO (T Williams) both fractious in the barriers. VOREEBA (E Camille) slowly away. When attempting to shift ground to gain a run over the concluding stages VOREEBA overreacted and ducked in sharply. No inconvenience was caused to any other horse.

Race 7 Tree of Knowledge Cup – 1600 Metres- 14 Starters
At about the 200m FLYING FEATHERS (N Coyne) shifted out slightly coming into contact with LISTON (K Yoshida). Approaching the winning post LISTON rolled in and came into contact with FLYING FEATHERS. K Yoshida immediately took hold of his mount and pulled it off LISTON. Any interference was slight and no action was taken.

Race 8 Class 3 Handicap – 1300 Metres- 10 Starters
