As G O’Sullivan was injured in a track accident following the declaration of riders the following changes were permitted:
Race 3 ENTITLEMENT R Barone
Race 4 FORCE NAVARO C Browne
RACE 1: Maiden Handicap - 1000m
Trainer R Simpson fined $25 failing to lodge amended stable return for BOYARIN (NZ).
TALL AND TANNED was scratched at 12.55am when no rider was available. The declared rider G O’Sullivan was injured in track accident after the declaration of riders.
T Austin was permitted to ride PRIMROSE PARADE 1.5kg overweight when no other rider was available.
PRIMROSE PARADE jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
Oliver Galea, the rider of BOYARIN (NZ), was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that near the 800m he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of I’M DAGWOOD resulting that horse being checked. O Galea was suspended for period of 2 meetings to commence at midnight on Monday 1st April 2002 and expire at midnight on Saturday 13th April 2002.
RACE 2: CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1000m
T Austin permitted to ride MILL VALLEY 1kg overweight.
Apprentice Stephen Wright, the rider of S’AMUSER, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that near the 850m he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of SUBJUDE resulting that horse being checked. S Wright was suspended for period of 1 meeting to commence at midnight on Saturday 30th March 2002 and expire at midnight on Saturday 6th April 2002.
RACE 3: QRIS CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1200m
MIGHTY EMPEROR scratched at 10.12am acting on veterinary advice.
SWAPPED scratched at 12.30am acting on veterinary advice.
RACE 4: CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1200m
While waiting to be loaded CRAIGLEA WEST came into contact with the ambulance dislodging apprentice Stephen Wright. CRAIGLEA WEST galloped back to the stabling area and in doing so collided with a fence and required a number of stitches. The veterinary surgeon reported that the horse may have sustained other injuries which may not become apparent until later on. Acting on the advice of the Club’s veterinary surgeon CRAIGLEA WEST was withdrawn. On the announcement of correct weight, stewards ordered that all monies invested on CRAIGLEA WEST be refunded with deductions of 27c in the dollar for the win and 25c in the dollar for the place on the face value of win and place tickets applicable.
