Race 1: Old Bank Café Maleny Class 3 Plate 1212m

1st – Mossetarsi 2nd- Magic Pearl 3rd- Drawn To Dubai 4th- Magic Turbo

Due to a clerical error, MAGIC TURBO was shown as having a handicap weight of 57.5kg, when in fact its handicap weight was 56.5kg. A public announcement was made to this effect.

MIO AMICO (App. D. McWhinney), CHALLOMAN (I. Coombes), TOP MESSIAH (L. Henry) and MAGIC TURBO (App. E. O'Connell) were all slow to begin.

DOUBLE HONOUR (App. S. Wiseman), MIO AMICO and MAGIC TURBO raced wide for the majority of the event.

A post race veterinary examination of MAGIC TURBO, which returned to the enclosure with a small amount of blood in its off side nostril, revealed the gelding to have a laceration to the inside of the nostril.

Stewards sought an explanation from App. K Gates, the rider of WE WILL ROCK, which performed below market expectations.. App. K. Gates stated the gelding whilst beginning well, never travelled comfortably in today’s prevailing track conditions, and failed to respond to her riding when placed under pressure in the straight. Stewards noted the explanation.

Race 2: Ross & Mary Hassam QTIS Maiden Plate 1090m

1st – All Claudia 2nd- God She’s Raunchy 3rd- Cote Du Rhone 4th- Star Of Kintyre

M. Lakey, the trainer of ALL CLAUDIA sought permission from stewards to race the filly in a ring bit as his norton bit had broken a strap. Stewards granted permission for this and advised M. Lakey to ensure the correct gear is available for the filly's next start.

ALL CLAUDIA (App. A. Kitson) was tightened on jumping between CAN HE GO (App. G. Goold) and STAR OF KINTYRE (O. Turpin), both of which shifted ground.

BRACE FOR IMPACT (App. E. O'Connell) was slow to begin.

ALL CLAUDIA hung out under pressure in the home straight.

M. Cant, the rider of COTE DU RHONE reported the mare was inclined to hang out for the entire race.

FALFARIO (I. Coombes) and GOD SHE'S RAUNCHY (App. S. Wiseman) raced wide for the majority of the event.

A post race veterinary examination of ALL CLAUDIA revealed the filly had sustained a laceration inside her mouth.

Stewards sought an explanation from I. Coombes, regarding the performance of FALFARIO, which performed below market expectations. I. Coombes stated the gelding failed to handle today's heavy sand track conditions. Stewards noted his explanation.

Race 3: Percy Bond Memorial Lightning Open Handicap 1090m

1st – Noname 2nd- White Cap 3rd- Frenardi 4th- Regal Mountain

QUEEN OF HAPPINESS (App. E. O'Connell) which got its off side hind leg over the barrier partitions had to be removed from the barriers prior to the start. The veterinarian advised that the filly was clear to start.

QUEEN OF HAPPINESS was slow to begin and lost ground. App. E. O'Connell reported that the filly was leaning back against the gates and lifted her off side hind leg up resulting in her missing the start. Trainer M. Hassam was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly's barrier manners. M. Hassam was also advised that if she had any concerns regarding the start to ensure the chairman of Stewards was notified prior to the declaration of correct weight. The starter, P. Honeywell, was also reminded of his obligations to immediately after the race and prior to declaration of correct weight, inform the chairman of Stewards of any incidents that may have affected the start.

HIGH DEE (App. S. Wiseman) and WHITE CAP (M. Cant) raced wide the majority of the event.

App. E. O'Connell was issued with a reprimand under AR144 for failing to weigh in as the 5th placed runner.

Race 4: John & Kathy Hofmann Bundaberg Gold Cup Open Handicap 1600m

1st – Beau De Lago 2nd- Craiglea Pursuit 3rd- Try Some Magic 4th- Craiglea Blondie

CRAIGLEA BLONDIE (K. Pedron) which was slow to begin, was further hampered on jumping by KING DEMONIC (App. D. McWhinney) which shifted out.

CRAIGLEA PURSUIT (App. K. Gates), RED ROLLER (App. E. O'Connell) and THROUGH THE WAVES (App. G. Goold) all raced wide for the majority of the event.

Stewards sought an explanation from L. Henry regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of ROVERT. L. Henry stated that her instructions were to stay wider on the track as the trainer, R. McCall, believed this to be the firmer section of today's surface. In endeavouring to ride to these instructions, she shifted wider on the track to improve from the 800m, and at this point she explained that the gelding did not travel as comfortable as when racing with some cover. She added that she believed it may have been a better option to maintain her position at this point of the race and look to improve wider coming to the straight. Stewards noted the explanation.

Race 5: Dunmaglas Lodge Eureka Class B Handicap 1380m

1st – Craiglea Sherry 2nd- Belladonna Delago 3rd- Uston 4th- Owie

USTON (App. E. O'Connell) was slow into stride.
