Race 1: XXXX Gold Class B Handicap 1212m

1st – Magic Turbo 2nd- Belladonna Delago 3rd- Noah’s Smile 4th- Fomal Winter

SAQUARRA was declared a late scratching at 11.32am when its rider, B. Hull, was unable to arrive on course due to transport difficulties, and no other rider was available.

DEVIL’S BREW (D. McWhinney) was fractious in the barriers.

MAGIC TURBO (B. Floyd) was slow to begin.

NOAH’S SMILE (I. Coombes) blundered on jumping away.

CARRY THE MING (C. McIver) and BELLADONNA DELAGO (D. Gill) made contact on jumping away.

Stewards inquired into the reason for SUGAR DIAMOND (N. Nishio) being tightened and steadied approaching the first turn at the 900m. After taking evidence and reviewing the race footage, it was established that at this point of the race SUGAR DIAMOND was placed in restricted room between TEDONTA (M. McKenzie) and FOMAL WINTER (L. Henry) which was taken in by MI KERADA (R. Faehr), and had to be steadied. In this incident, TEDONTA and NOAH’S SMILE, both raced in restricted room for a short distance. R. Faehr was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

MAGIC TURBO raced wide from the 600m.

MAY (C. Kearney) and CARRY THE MING raced wide for the majority of the event.

Stewards sought an explanation from M. McKenzie regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of TEDONTA. He stated that the mare was inclined to hang out throughout the event, and when placed under pressure at the 500m, failed to respond to his riding, and in his opinion, proved disappointing. A post race veterinary examination of TEDONTA did not reveal any significant abnormalities.

R. Faehr reported that MI KERADA had lunged at the front gates when DEVIL’S BREW was fractious in the adjacent stall, and may have hit it’s near side shoulder. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any significant abnormalities.

Race 2: Boylan’s Produce Class 4 Handicap 1212m

1st – Angel Place 2nd- Don’t You Worry 3rd- Queen Of Happiness 4th- Challoman

POWERFUL SPHERE (M. McKenzie) blundered on jumping away.

WINGER IN (R. Faehr) shifted in at the start and made heavy contact with MORONGLA (D. Gill).

QUEEN OF HAPPINESS (B. Floyd) and CHALLOMAN (R. Hancock) who made contact on jumping away, both raced wide for the majority of the event.

M. McKenzie reported that POWERFUL SPHERE resented the kick back from today’s surface.

Race 3: Dunmaglas Lodge QTIS Class 2 Handicap 1090m

1st – Craiglea Fighter 2nd- All Significant 3rd- Make A Deal 4th- Kyeebi Cashel

DANNI’S IMPACT (R. Faehr) who broke through the front of the barriers and was quickly restrained, underwent a veterinary examination prior to the race and was cleared to start.

PRIVATE CHAT (B. Floyd), STRICTLY FLAMENCO (D. McWhinney) and INTHANON (I. Coombes) were slow to begin.

STRICTLY FLAMENCO raced wide for the majority of the event.

I. Coombes reported that INTHANON resented the kick back from today’s surface, and this resulted in him shifting the gelding wider on the track approaching the home turn to allow INTHANON clear running with no kick back.

PRIVATE CHAT raced wide until being eased out of the race from the 500m by its rider. B. Floyd advised stewards that the gelding felt to be favouring it’s off side foreleg after striking a heavy section of the track, and due to concerns with the gelding’s action, eased her mount out of the race. A post race veterinary examination of PRIVATE CHAT did not reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer M. Hassam undertook to advise stewards of any condition that may arise and have affected the gelding’s performance in the days following today’s race.

Race 4: National Telephone And Data Maiden Plate 1090m

1st – Out Of Character 2nd- Hard To Handle 3rd- Gems Tatt 4th- Roughen

BRACE FOR IMPACT (B. Floyd) and MILITARISM (R. Hancock) were slow to begin.

GRANNY MCPHEE (M. McKenzie) began awkwardly.

CASANOVA COWBOY (R. Faehr) was slow into stride.

ROUGHEN (I. Coombes), BRACE FOR IMPACT and GRANNY MCPHEE raced wide the majority of the event.

Stewards sought an explanation from N. Nishio regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of EMPIRICAL ROSE. He stated that the mare travelled well behind the lead, however when placed under pressure leaving the 500m, the mare failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. He added that the mare may have resented the tongue tie which was being worn for the first time today. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a slightly slower than normal recovery rate.

Race 5: Bundy Diesel Specialists Open Handicap 850m

1st – Twogundan 2nd- White Cap 3rd- Montanus 4th- Palolo Deep

WHITE CAP (C. Kearney) laid in near the 600m and made contact with MONTANUS (R. Faehr).

MONTANUS and WHITE CAP brushed on several occasions leaving the 300m.
