Race 1: SAMIOS PLUMBING SUPPLIES CLASS B 950m.
1st – BAMER 2nd – PAINTBALL 3rd – ORMONDE 4th – FINAL OPINION

HIGH MUM (C. Bumstead) was slow to begin.

DREAM’S COMING (C. Eaton) began awkwardly.

Rounding the home turn PAINTBALL (L. Dittman) had to be steadied off the heels of BAMER (T. Unwin)

Approaching the 50m FINAL OPINION (C.Small) shifted in making contact with PAINTBALL (L. Dittman).

IRISH FUN (T. Chambers) and ORMONDE (S. Wright) raced wide for the majority of the event.

Race 2: Robert Ferguson Tasmania Maiden Plate 1200m.
1st – SPILT MILK 2nd – KINDRED HOPE 3rd – SHEZA LIL REBEL 4th – MANYIRGUNS

At the start BUSHY BROWN (D. Barron) shifted out taking SHINDAGHA (G. Auckram) out across the heels of MANYIRGUNS (C. Nicoll) and blundered.

P. Lindeberg, the rider of MEREENA was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that approaching the 1000m he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of KINDRED HOPE (C. Small) resulting in KINDRED HOPE having to be checked. P. Lindeberg’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings commencing midnight 19 August 2007 up to and including midnight 1 September 2007.

P. Lindeberg the rider of MEREENA was also found guilty of a charge under AR137(d) in that at a point near the 900m he excessively reduced the speed of his horse thereby causing interference to DARK PERFECTION (S. Wright) which was following and had to be checked. BUSHY BROWN (D. Barron) which was following DARK PERFECTION also had to be checked. P. Lindeberg’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 meetings commencing midnight 19 August up to and including midnight 5 September 2007. It was further ordered that this suspension be served concurrently with the above suspension of 7 meetings.

Approaching the 650m DARK PERFECTION (S. Wright) had to be checked when tightened for room by KINDRED HOPE (C. Small) which hung in and away from SAHARA NOBLE (S. Bogenhuber) despite the efforts of its rider. Trainer of KINDRED HOPE, C. Halliday was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse in relation to its racing manners.

C. Nicoll the rider of MANYIRGUNS was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that approaching the 100m he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of SO LONG (T. Unwin) forcing that runner in onto HAFEEFA (D. Hayse) which had to be checked off the heels of SAHARA NOBLE (S. Bogenhuber). C. Nicoll’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings commencing midnight 18 August 2007 up to and including midnight 30 August 2007.


Race 3: Craiglea/Raheen/Palmaday/Marr’s Burnett To Beach Class 4 Hcp 1300m.
1st – FRIGATE 2nd – SQUEEZE ME IN 3rd – ANOTHER GLANCE 4th – EBONY LAD

EBONY LAD (D. Hayse) began awkwardly.


Race 4: CNW Electrical Class 2 Hcp 1400m.
1st – SIR LARA 2nd – BRAKSPEAR 3rd – FORREST HEIR 4th – RIN TIN

NEVER EVER AGAIN (T. Unwin) blundered on jumping away.

BRAKSPEAR (S. Bogenhuber) was slow to begin.

Approaching the 900m NEVER EVER AGAIN (T. Unwin) shifted in making contact with ORIENT EXPRESS (B. Cornell).

At the 150m RIN TIN (L. Dittman) shifted in making contact with GATHER (C. Eaton).

When questioned regarding the riding tactics adopted on FRISKY FRED, in particular in the early stages of the race, Apprentice S. Holcombe stated that he was forced to race wide to a point near the 900m when he elected to obtain a position back in the field and closer to the fence. When FRISKY FRED obtained a position at the tail of the field FRISKY FRED was reluctant to race forward and subsequently tailed off. Stewards noted S. Holcombe’s explanation however advised him to make greater efforts to urge his mount forward in similar situations.


Race 5:Air Additions Air Conditioners Mdn Plate 1400m.
1st – NO CLAPPING 2nd - FLYING SILVER 3rd – JUMEIRAH HEIGHTS 4th – WATCHA POCO

MY BOY (S. Wright) reared as the gates opened losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on MY BOY in relation to its barrier manners.

Approaching the 900m SKARENA commenced to over race and shifted in forcing JUMEIRAH HEIGHTS (G. Auckram) in onto MY BOY (S. Wright). In this incident JUMEIRAH HEIGHTS had to be steadied.

Leaving the 900m NO CLAPPING (B. Cornell) had to be steadied off the heels of JABARI (L. Dittman).

FROZEN TIME (T. Unwin) and COUNTRY ROCK (T. Chambers) raced wide for the majority of the event.
