SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

From Ipswich 17.1.14 – Race 5: S. Drake, the rider of HIDE THE ACE, was fined $100 for failing to ride her mount out to the finish line.

Race 1: BRISBANE BLOODSTOCK BONUS QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H’CAP - 1100M

CHESNEY (S. Fawke) was slow to begin.

Leaving the 900m LIBERTY MARKET (A. Allen) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of BRAVE DAZZLER (N. Tomizawa), which shifted in. N. Tomizawa was advised to exercise more care.

BRAVE DAZZLER made the home turn awkwardly.

LIBERTY MARKET shifted out under pressure approaching the 100m.

Race 2: BEAUDESERT HOTEL CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1650M

ISAVENGER (S. Fawke) and MY MASERATI (A. Pattillo) were slow to begin.

ILLUDE (T. Banks) became fractious as the start was effected and lost considerable ground.

MORE DUST (J. Johnson) hung out rounding the turn out of the straight on the first occasion.

Following the running of this race apprentice J. Johnson was stood down by ambulance officers due to illness. Apprentice Johnson was advised to produce a medical clearance prior to resuming riding.

Race 3: HAACK GROUP C,G&E MAIDEN H’CAP – 1050M

After being reluctant to proceed to the barriers, NEVER IGNORE (A. Fancourt) dislodged its rider during the preliminary, resulting in apprentice Fancourt taking a seemingly harmless fall. The start was further delayed when NEVER IGNORE proved difficult to load. Trainer M. Frappell was advised that NEVER IGNORE must officially trial prior to being permitted to race again.

TREVLYN’S COL (S. Drake) was fractious in the barriers prior to the start.

BIZARRE ROCK (R. Ride) was slow to begin.

MAHRAJAAN (Michael Palmer) jumped in the air at the start and lost ground.

NEVER IGNORE, which began very awkwardly, was then further inconvenienced by BLUE PRINCE (P. Holmes), which shifted out, and lost considerable ground.

Near the 600m TREVLYN’S COL was crowded for room when racing between GO YOU GOOD THING (V. Venkaya) and CRAIGLEA ART (A. Butler).

Leaving the 300m GO YOU GOOD THING shifted out, made contact with CRAIGLEA ART and blundered, resulting in jockey Venkaya (GO YOU GOOD THING) losing his nearside iron, placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race.

Leaving the 100 TREVLYN’S COL, which was racing greenly, shifted in and away from MAHRAJAAN, which shifted in slightly, and then became awkward on the heels of NATURAL SIGN (L. Williams), which shifted out slightly under pressure, resulting in TREVLYN’S COL having to be steadied.

Race 4: EVERGREEN TURF F&M MAIDEN H’CAP – 1050M

MOON CANDY was a late scratching at 1.20 pm on veterinary advice after being injured in transit to the course. Trainer M. Lakey was advised that he must produce a veterinary clearance for MOON CANDY prior to its next start.

AIR SPEED was declared a late scratching at 1.47 pm by order of stewards as the horse was ineligible to compete due to an existing bar.

Correct weight was delayed to allow stewards the opportunity of viewing the patrol footage to ascertain whether there were grounds for the 2nd placegetter GREY TIGHTS (M. Gray) to lodge an objection against the winner KERRICAIT (L. Williams) regarding an incident leaving the 800m. After viewing the video, stewards were not satisfied grounds existed for an objection and correct weight was declared on the numbers semaphored.

ASIAN SKY (B. Ainsworth) began very awkwardly, shifted out making contact with the outside barrier gate and lost considerable ground.

GREY TIGHTS and SAY ONE FOR ME (M. Hellyer) began awkwardly.

Shortly after the start SAY ONE FOR ME shifted out, making contact with MOKKIE MAGIC (B. El-Issa).

A short distance after the start GREY TIGHTS shifted out, making contact with SAY ONE FOR ME, which in turn shifted out making contact with the hind quarters of MOKKIE MAGIC, which became unbalanced.

EXTRA CREDIT (V. Venkaya) raced wide for the majority of the event and became unbalanced rounding the home turn, shifting wider on the track.

Leaving the 800m GREY TIGHTS, which was overracing, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of KERRICAIT, which shifted in. GREY TIGHTS then overraced for a short distance thereafter. L. Williams (KERRICAIT) was severely reprimanded and advised to give riders more clearance when shifting ground.

ASIAN SKY hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

Race 5: JOHN WYATT ELECTRICAL CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1200M

STREET ROSE (A. Allen) began awkwardly and was slow to begin.

DAILY PLANET (B. Ainsworth) was slow to begin.

MANCHEBO (C. Schmidt) jumped outwards at the start, making contact with KING’S SHILLING (R. Goltz), which shifted out, brushing RIP RIP WOODCHIP (S. Drake).

RIP RIP WOODCHIP raced wide for the majority of the event.

Near the 800m DAILY PLANET overraced and had to be restrained off the heels of BELGRANDO.

MISHANI ACE (A. Pattillo) raced wide in the middle stages.

B. El-Issa, the rider of CAMPIONESSA, reported to stewards that in his opinion the mare held its breath during the race and became unbalanced rounding the home turn and shifted off the fence, which allowed BELGRANDO (M. Hellyer) to improve to his inside. A post-race veterinary examination of CAMPIONESSA revealed the mare to be exhibiting an abnormal respiratory noise. Connections were advised that the results of an endoscopic examination must be provided to stewards prior to CAMPIONESSA being permitted to race again.

Race 6: BEAUDESERT SOFT DRINKS MAIDEN PLATE – 1650M

As D. Green was injured, P. Holmes was substituted as the rider of HASTE AWAY.

DR STRANGELOVE and JUST TAKE IT were declared late scratchings at 2.58 pm when both horses failed to arrive on course due to transport difficulties.

Both BANK JOB (B. Appo) and CROSSON (M. McKenzie) began awkwardly and shifted out.

HASTE AWAY (P. Holmes) began awkwardly.

SKYFALL (Michael Palmer) was slow to begin.

A short distance after the start BANK JOB commenced to hang out and shifted out making contact with CROSSON on a number of occasions. BANK JOB continued to hang out rounding the turn out of the straight on the first occasion and shifted wider for a short distance.

Near the 600m SKYFALL had to be steadied when tightened for room when racing to the inside of CROSSON, which hung in.

CASH CREEK (B. El-Issa) had to be steadied near the winning post when crowded for room between BANK JOB, which hung out under pressure, and JAVA BAY (C. Schmidt), which shifted in under pressure.

Apprentice M. McKenzie reported that CROSSON hung in for the majority of the event.

Trainer M. Grady was advised that EASY CONNECTION, which performed uncompetitively, would be ineligible to start at TAB meetings until it establishes improved country form. A post-race veterinary examination of EASY CONNECTION revealed no abnormalities.

RACE 7: QPS INVESTMENT GROUP COUNTRY QUEENSLAND SHOWCASE BM79 H’CAP – 1400M

Apprentice B. Ainsworth, the rider of KARANJA, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 1100m she permitted her mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of VIVAHEART (C. Small), resulting in that runner being taken in on to BLOODED (B. Appo), which in turn shifted in taking WHAT HAPPENEDHENRY (G. Colless) in on to the hind quarters of AFTER BARON (A. Pattillo), resulting in WHAT HAPPENEDHENRY shifting out and being further tightened between BLOODED and AFTER BARON and having to be checked. Apprentice Ainsworth’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Sunday 9 February and expire at midnight on Friday 21 February 2014.

Approaching the 300m MAGINNIS MAGEE (S. Fawke) improved on to the heels of ROYAL CONSORT (R. Jamieson) and had to be steadied.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of WHAT HAPPENEDHENRY, trainer K . Schweida said he was very disappointed with the performance and could offer no tangible explanation other than that he would discuss the horse’s current preparation with connections. Jockey G. Colless stated that the horse felt good in its action and he was unable to offer any explanation and felt the horse’s performance was disappointing.

RACE 8: BARRIER REEF POOLS CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1100M

IDAHLIA (C. Spry) jumped out at the start, making contact with POCILLO (J. Kokotajlo).

Shortly after the start POCILLO attempted to buck and tailed off as a result. Trainer D. Duryea was advised that POCILLO must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to being permitted to race again.

Shortly after the start EVERYTHING TO GAIN bucked, dislodging B. El-Issa, who took a seemingly harmless fall. Trainer M. Palmer was advised that EVERYTHING TO GAIN must officially trial prior to being permitted to race again. Subsequent to the event jockey El-Issa was examined by the ambulance officers and cleared of any apparent injury.

ROCKING EMPIRE (A. Allen) raced wide in the early stages.

DIAGNOSE (R. Ride) raced wide for the majority of the event.

Trainer D. Murphy was advised that AL JALILA (P. Holmes), which performed disappointingly, must perform satisfactorily in an official trial prior to being permitted to race again. A post-race veterinary examination of AL JALILA failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
