RACE 1 DALBY HOSPITAL CANCER CARE ROOM MAIDEN PLATE 1300M.

A prerace test of the starting stalls showed that barrier 1 tended to open slowly and it was decided not to use that barrier throughout the day.

FAREWELL ANNA (I Coombes) was slow to jump and raced wide throughout.

LE BONX CHONX (R Goltz) scrambled out of the stalls and was slow into stride. LE BONX CHONX was sent for a post-race Veterinary inspection which revealed no injury or abnormality.

MISS ALEXANDRA (M Crawford) began to hang out approaching the home turn despite the efforts of the rider and took MONTO (B Stower) wider on the home turn.


RACE 2. BREAST CANCER BENCHMARK 70 HCP 1300M

CRAZY WAYS (J Hoopert) was slow to jump.

STEPHEN GOT EVEN (D McIntosh) did not stretch out in the early stages due to the hard track and lost momentum.

SEAZA (L Appo) drifted out on the home turn.


RACE 3. PINK RIBBON QTIS HCP 1200m

JET LARGO (L Appo) which was restless in the starting gates eventually rearing over dislodging jockey Appo who struck his left ankle. JET LARGO was withdrawn at 2-23pm by order of the stewards acting on Veterinary advice. The Veterinarian reported that JET LARGO had sustained some lacerations to the offside foreleg and was also favoring her near hind leg. A Veterinary Certificate is required prior to racing again. All monies invested on JET LARGO refunded and the following deductions applied:

Second STAND’n ‘STARE 7c place
THIRD KARZING 10c place

The trainer of JET LARGO M Goodwin was represented by C Aspinall who was told that the mare must undertake an official barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to further nomination.

CHILLDOWN (J Brown) was very slow to leave the starting gates.

Shortly after the start KARZING (J Hoopert) hung in badly without inconvenience to other runners.

STAND’N ‘STARE (B Newport) was held up rounding the home turn until the 100m.


RACE 4. SHARON COHRS MAIDEN HCP 1000m

MAJOR BLOT (B Newport) refused to load and was withdrawn at 3-06pm. All monies on MAJOR BLOT were refunded and the following deductions applied:

Trainer P Moncrieff was advised that MAJOR BLOT must undergo an official barrier trial prior to further nomination.

BILLIES GOLD (L Appo) jumped inwards at the start.


RACE 5 DALBY RURAL SUPPLIES CELEBRATION OPEN HCP 1000m

Apprentice F Elliot was examined by the Ambulance officers prior to the race as it had been reported that Apprentice Elliot had been dislodged at trackwork that morning. The Ambulance officers reported that all vital signs were normal and reaction to eye tests were also normal and passed Apprentice Elliot to ride.

Apprentice B Stower was charged under Rule AR 140 A in that she sent out the incorrect saddlecloth number for SEQUILLAN, resulting in the mare having to be re-saddled with the correct number. Apprentice Stower pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $100. Trainer T Sears was cautioned and advised to instruct his staff who saddled the horse to exercise more attention in future.

Stewards noticed that OLYMPIA’s FLAME (B Newport) which normally races in a forward position, settled well back in the field. Trainer P Webster’s representative W Webster told stewards that his instructions were to go forward and take up a close trailing position and he was surprised that the horse was so far back. Appr B Newport said that it was his intention to go forward as instructed however the mare threw her head up on several occasions causing her to be slow into stride and lose ground. Explanations were noted.


RACE 6 DALGRAINS CLASS3 PLATE 1000m

ELLO ELLO (R Johnston-Bell) was slow into stride.

RAISE THE BID (S Apthorpe) hung out throughout.

FAIR SWAP (B Newport) was very wide on the home turn.

DIAMOND HEIST (R Goltz) drifted out rounding the home turn.
