STEWARDS REPORT BIRDSVILLE RACE CLUB SATURDAY 4th SEPTEMBER 2004

Weather : Fine Track: Good
Race 1:Maiden Plate 1200 metres
HOT SADDLES was inclined to lay out from after passing the 1000 metres until shortly after straightening.
Race 2 :Class 6 Plate 1400 metres
CHIEF BRAVEHEART was forced to race wide in the early and middle stages.
After passing the 400 metres FLASH TOUCH shifted out and made contact with CHIEF BRAVEHEART.
Near the 300 metres CASH ‘N’ CARRY was hampered between FRENCH WATERS which shifted out slightly and FLASH TOUCH which was taken in by LITTLE MISS CINDY which was taken in by FINAL PUG. Both M Cummings the rider of FRENCH WATERS and K Ballard the rider of FINAL PUG were advised to exercise more care in future.
Race 3 :Open Handicap 1200 metres
The clubs ambulance officer stood down M Cummings, the following replacements were approved, GIBBERISH race 3, J Burgess, OSHABERI race 4, B Calkin, VAIN JOE race 5, L Critoph.
TIERWAY blundered on jumping.
GIBBERISH laid out rounding the first turn forcing TIERWAY and PASSER PASSION wider on the track.
FLEET MASTER raced wide throughout the event.
Race 4 : QTIS Class 2 Handicap 1200 metres
On returning to scale a protest was lodged by M Dale the rider of the 3rd horse AIRGUN against the winner MARENA LAD alleging interference shortly after the start, and also against the 2nd horse FRED WILL KNOW alleging interference rounding the home turn. After taking evidence and viewing the Stewards patrol film, Stewards were on the opinion that the objection against the winner be dismissed, and in considering the second objection the Stewards believed the FRED WILL KNOW did lay out rounding the home turn taking FATHER’S FOLLY and AIRGUN wider, but were not satisfied the interference and the margin at the finish warranted a reversal of the placings and therefore that protest was also dismissed. Correct weight was declared on the judge’s placings 7-4-1-2.
Race 5 : Open Handicap 1600 metres
The saddle on COLONEL FLYER shifted to the near side approaching the 700 metres placing its rider M Dale at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.
LITTLE BIT LIVELY hung out rounding the first turn taking UPHOLD wider on the track.
CHADING was impeded for a run near the 300 metres. CHADING was then inclined to lay in under pressure for the remainder on the event.
A post race Veterinary examination of OELAND revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore fetlock.
Race 6 : Class 3 Handicap 1000 metres
No Racing incidents.
All winners were swabbed.
