RACE 1 SWICKERS MAIDEN HANDICAP – 800M
SILVERLEIGH LASS was declared a late scratching at 1.10 pm by order of the Stewards after that filly was unable to be loaded in the barrier. Trainer P. Edwards was advised that a further barrier certificate must be provided prior to its next race start. All monies invested on SILVERLEIGH LASS were ordered to be refunded in full, with deductions made in accordance with the Racing and Betting Act i.e. 12 cents in the dollar on the face value of the winning tickets and 11 cents in the dollar on the face value of the place ticket.
SHIFTY POST was slow to begin and lost considerable ground.
Approaching the home turn, JUBILEE KING commenced to hang out taking ZALZALLA wider on the track.
RACE 2 ANZ BANK/KEN MILLS CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1000M
MANDA PANDA and ROCKET BE GOOD made contact on jumping.
Shortly after the start LOTUS BIRD shifted out making contact with CROWN MAID which had to be steadied.
Approaching the 200 metres, SPLENDID BABY shifted out to improve which resulted in the tiring MANDA PANDA being taken across the heels of SLASHING LOOKS and having to be steadied. J. Hoopert, rider of SPLENDID BABY was reprimanded and advised that he must be sufficiently clear when shifting ground.
Approaching the winning post, SPLENDID BABY shifted in again hampering SLASHING LOOKS.
RACE 3 CARROLLE & XXXX SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1200M
PICASSO and RHYTHM STAR made contact on jumping.
Approaching the 800 metres WELSH TART shifted in and TWILIGHT BLUE which was racing to that runners inside, raced in restricted room for some distance. Approaching the home turn, WELSH TART commenced to hang out.
Jockey C. Kearney reported that MISTER NEWS which raced disappointingly in his opinion, never was comfortable on the track and failed to stretch out in any stage of the event. The club veterinary surgeon reported no abnormalities.
RACE 4 JIMBOUR WINES CLASS 6 HANDICAP – 1200M
CANNONBALL JACK was slow to jump. On jumping, DOOLIN shifted out and made contact with SILVER VALLEY.
Approaching the 400 metres when SILVER VALLEY commenced to yield ground, ZEUS THUNDER BOLT, which was following, had to be checked and in doing so clipped the heels of SILVER VALLEY and fell. TYCOON’S GIFT which was following, had to be checked to avoid the fallen SILVER VALLEY and as a result lost considerable ground.
RACE 5 BGA & SYGENTA PETRO FUEL HANDICAP – 1600M
Prior to the running of the race, jockey D. Rewald was examined by the club ambulance officer and was passed to fulfil his engagements.
ACE OF FRANCE was slow to jump. RED INTRO jumped out at the start and made contact with ARC BURN.
KWILA STAR made the 1st turn awkwardly and shifted out taking TSAR RULER wider on the track. For some distance inside the 200 metres, TSAR RULER raced in restricted room to the inside of RAGNAR.
RACE 6 BOOKMAKERS CLASS 3 HANDICAP – 1400M
GARGOYLE was slow to jump. STAR GAMBLER jumped away awkwardly and shifted in and made contact with WIMBLEDON HERO.
After leaving the 1000 metres, GARGOYLE struck the running rail and shifted out making contact with STEEL STARS.
Three winners were swabbed ZALZALLA, PICASSO and RAGNAR.
