CLIFTON JOCKEY CLUB STEWARDS REPORT 4TH MAY 2002

STEWARDS PANEL: J Williamson (Chairman), J Ross, L Eagle, T Harding

WEATHER – FINE TRACK – GOOD


RACE 1: CLUB HOTEL MAIDEN H'CAP – 800M.

J Bryant replaced B Calkin as the rider of BOLD ANTICIPATION after he was lost on the way to the course.
As C Spry had been stood down by his master he was replaced as the rider of BRAJASSI by P Spry.
A protest was lodged by W Cook the rider of the 2nd placegetter NOBLE JACKPOT against the 1st placegetter SLASHING LOOKS for alleged interference at the 600m. After hearing evidence from both riders the protest was dismissed and correct weight was given on the semaphored numbers.
ST. EUGENE jumped out at the start hampering FAIR COP, which was slow to begin.
Jockey B Appo was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in at the 600m forcing NOBLE JACKPOTs’ rider to shift out to avoid that geldings heels.
SLASHING LOOKS shifted out making the home turn and again over the concluding stages forcing NOBLE JACKPOT wider on the track.

RACE 2: CLIFTON ARMS CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1100M.

SCARLET ASTRON over raced from the 800m to leaving the 600m
Jockey J Bryant the rider of RAVEN BEAUTY was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that approaching the 200m she elected to shift out taking the running of KILLED THE CAT forcing that mare across the heels of GOLD SONIC causing it to take heels and be checked. Jockey J Bryant was suspended for a period of 6 meetings to commence midnight 5th May 2002 and to conclude midnight 15th May 2002.
KILLED THE CAT shifted in over the concluding stages slightly hampering RAVEN BEAUTY.

RACE 3: RUDD’S PUB MAIDEN H'CAP – 1100M.

JESSIE’S SISTER shifted out on jumping making heavy contact with SHONER’S LAD, almost dislodging K Yoshida, in turn SHONER’S LAD made contact with ROSEBERTH ROAD which was forced onto STEEL GHOST which then forced TELLY’S GANG to take the heels of MIGHTY CUTE and blunder in doing so hampering WHY NOT WAG which had reared at the start.
KING’S BISHOP was slow to begin.
Making the home turn both ROSEBERTH ROAD and HE’S A BROTHER were tightened for room between the fence and the tiring SHONER’S LAD which shifted in.




RACE 4: SETTLERS SERIES CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1000M.

HEROIC PRINCE was slow to begin.
OELAND had to be checked over the concluding stages when tightened for room between CREDENTIALS which shifted out slightly and MRS. LEDDEN which shifted in jockey P Moodie rider of MRS. LEDDEN was reprimanded in this incident.

RACE 5: JIM FLYNN MEMORIAL CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1400M.

Leaving the 200m, the tiring ROYAL CARTOOSH had to be eased when tightened for room between HYDRO’S BOY and GREAT EXPECTATIONS both of which shifted ground. Jockey M Dorrington was reminded of his obligations when his horse is shifting ground.

RACE 6: KING’S HOTEL MAIDEN H'CAP – 1580M.

MONTEAL BEAU and SPLICER’S DREAM were both slow to begin.
B Calkin the rider of DIAMOND FIRE lost his near side iron on jumping, placing him at a disadvantage until he regained it again at the 800m.


ALL WINNERS WERE SWABBED.
