GENERAL:
Race 1: QTIS Maiden Plate Plate – 800 metres:
1st – ALTAHLEE 2nd – TOP DECISION 3rd – TRANSFUSION 4th – DAZZLING MAGIC
When Jockey M. Elliott was indisposed, Jockey A. Dykes was substituted as the rider of RISKY PROPOSITION.
DAZZLING MAGIC was difficult to load into the barriers. Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that a warning will be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
On jumping TRANSFUSION (T. Chambers) and DAZZLING MAGIC (T. Bannon) came together.
At the start BARELY THERE (F. Edwards) shifted out and made contact with TOP DECISION (J. Felix), and as a consequence was then taken in and made contact with GULF PRINCESS (G. Cullen).
BARELY THERE and TOP DECISION raced wide throughout.
Near the 450 metres GULF PRINCESS was taken wider by OUR MOVE (P. Cullen) which shifted out.
Race 2: Class 2 Handicap – 1000 metres:
1st – SHADOWS OF SIN 2nd – COURT ACTION 3rd – CARE TO SHARE 4th – IT’S JUST LAGO
PUBLIC AFFAIR (F. Edwards) began very awkwardly, shifted in and had to be checked off the heels of IT’S JUST LAGO (T. Chambers), resulting in PUBLIC AFFAIR losing ground.
Near the 850 metres CARE TO SHARE (G. Cullen) had to be steadied when racing in restricted room between COURT ACTION (P. Cullen) and SHADOWS OF SIN (G. Kliese). As a result CARE TO SHARE lost ground.
TALCUM (A. Dykes) and PUBLIC AFFAIR raced wide throughout.
IT’S JUST LAGO raced wide rounding the home turn and then had a tendency to lay out throughout the home straight.
Race 3: Open Handicap – 1000 metres:
1st – PEOPLE’S CHOICE 2nd – COOINDA 3rd – SURPASSER 4th – RETRIAL
Trainer Ms T. Parry was questioned as to the reason for the scratching of EXCEED ALL LIMITS. Ms Parry stated that on Friday last after monitoring the gelding she had discovered that EXCEED ALL LIMITS had a bad case of seedy toe and consequently she notified the withdrawal of the gelding. Stewards advised Ms Parry that she must furnish a veterinary clearance prior to EXCEED ALL LIMITS being permitted to race again.
COOINDA (T. Bannon) raced wide throughout.
A post-race veterinary examination of SURPASSER (App. E. Ljung) revealed that the gelding was displaying a mild case of heat exhaustion.
Race 4: Class B Handicap – 1200 metres:
1st – MARK ME OLEE 2nd – HAILING 3rd – ZOZUQUALO 4th – RATSTAN
As no suitable rider was available at the weight, stewards permitted Jockey T. Chambers to ride GARRULOUS 2.5 kg over its allotted weight.
At the start MARK ME OLEE (G. Kliese) and GARRULOUS came together, taking MARK ME OLEE in onto STILTSKIN (App. E. Ljung).
Near the 1000 metres MARK ME OLEE was forced to race in restricted room between WILLIE CLANG (f. Edwards) and ZOZUQUALO.
In the early and middle stages GARRULOUS and HAILING (G. Cullen) raced wide.
Near the 900 metres RATSTAN (P. Cullen) had a tendency to lay in and in doing so had to be steadied off the heels of ZOZUQUALO (J. Felix).
Race 5: Class 4 Hadicap – 1200 metres
1st – MILITARY TIME 2nd – MIO MONDO 3rd – SCIROCCO SAN 4th – SHADOW LINE
SHADOW LINE (G. Cullen) was slow into stride.
FELTHAM (D. Simmons) was slow to begin.
SCIROCCO SAN (P. Cullen) and MILITARY TIME (G. Kliese) raced wide in the early and middle stages.
