CENTRAL WARREGO RACE CLUB STEWARDS REPORT 18th MAY 2002

STEWARDS PANEL: J Williamson (Chairman), A Jones, C Baker

WEATHER – FINE TRACK – SAND


RACE 1: POWER FUELS QUILPIE MAIDEN H'CAP – 1200M.

INCLEMEN jumped in at the start hampering CAPRICIOUS RIVER which was slow to begin
SECRET OBSESSION was slow to begin.

RACE 2: SOUTH WEST FORD CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1400M.

CHIEF SALIERI shifted out at the 1300m making contact with CHIEF DAHAR which in turn shifted out making contact with ASMADAS.
CHIEF SALIERI again shifted out at the 800m making contact with ASMADAS.

RACE 3: SHELL ROADHOUSE SUPER QRIS CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1000M.

IL PALIO was slow to begin.
When passing the 400m, P Thureson the rider of JACKSONS BANKROLL, shifted out to avoid the heels of the tiring CHADLIN. P Thureson then continued to shift out and in doing so has tightened the running of THE KNACK, SURE AND CERTAIN and WHAT A FIGHTER, which shifted out and hampered IL PALIO. P Thureson was cautioned in this incident.
Jockey P Thureson was further cautioned in that when shifting out to obtain clear running, approaching the 300m, he has caused THE KNACK to be tightened for room and be eased.
Prior to correct weight being given a protest was lodged by R Tilley the rider of the second placegetter ALESSI against ZACSAWAY being placed first, alleging interference in the home straight. After hearing evidence from both parties the stewards found that the ground lost in the incident was in excess of the winning margin and subsequently the protest was upheld and the placing reversed.
At a subsequent inquiry Jockey A Morrison was reminded of his obligations when his mount is shifting ground.
When pulling up, R McMaster rider of BONNECAY was dislodged when his iron broke. As a consequence he injured his right knee and was stood down by the clubs ambulance officer. Due to there being no other riders available jockey McMasters remaining mounts were declared late scratching at 2:55pm.

RACE 4: SHELL DRIVEWAY CLASS 3 H'CAP – 1200M.

Apprentice J Tong’s, rider of SMARTLY, saddle slipped at the 800m placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event
SMARTLY shifted out at the 700m hampering MONT VUE DAWN.
SMARTLY again shifted out leaving the 200m hampering MONT VUE DAWN.

RACE 5: POWER FUELS CHARLEVILLE NEWMARKET H'CAP – 1200M.

Shortly after the start GRAEME’S CHOICE, HE’S A KWILA and POETIC BARON were all tightened for room and lost ground between HAIL ROCKET and PALACE GRANT which shifted in.
Jockey A Morrison pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that at approximately the 900m he allowed his mount MARCELO to shift in when not sufficiently clear of ACE RULE causing that horse to take heels, blunder and lose considerable ground. In this incident PALACE GRANT and JACKHAMMER, which were following, were also hampered. Jockey A Morrisons’ license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 meetings to commence midnight 18th May 2002 and to conclude midnight 2nd June 2002.
Over the concluding stages GRAEME’S CHOICE was forced to shift out off the heels of the tiring ACE RULE.

RACE 6: LES AND BETTY WADE MEMORIAL CLASS 5 H'CAP – 800M.

DOUBLE RUN was tightened for room at the start between VELETTA BELLE, which shifted out and PRAY LATER, which shifted in.
CABALLO MISS hung out rounding the turn and continued to do so for the remainder of the event. Trainer R Beck was advised that the mare would be required to barrier trial prior to its next start.


ALL WINNERS WERE SWABBED.
