Race 1: Maiden Plate – 800m
1st – Innocent Jane 2nd – Drover 3rd – Coastal Sand 4th - Swoops
HARD TIMES SALLY (K.Hutchins) and CRAIGLEA COWGIRL (C.Baker) were both slow to begin.
SWOOPS (D.Hutchins) blundered on jumping away.
At approximately the 600m DANSFREE (C.Bryen) shifted in slightly causing SWOOPS to ease.
CRAIGLEA COWGIRL hung out rounding the home turn and throughout the straight.
Race 2: Brett Moody Class B Handicap – 1400m
1st – Fuel ‘n’ Water 2nd – Dangerous Cent 3rd – Mondayitis 4th – Hello Clang
FUEL ‘N’ WATER (L.Fyfe) jumped away awkwardly.
DANGEROUS CENT (C.Bryen) jumped in at the start causing SIX LOVE (C.Baker) to ease.
PLACID LASS (C.Rogers) hung out from the 1200m until the 1000m.
LITTLE SKIPPER (W.Glass) over-raced from the 1000m until the 800m.
Leaving the 600m MONDAYITIS (K.Hutchins) eased from the heels of HELLO CLANG (S.Wright).
Race 3: Dick Leeds Class 6 Plate – 1000m
1st – Mirimba Bay 2nd - Geda Dee Jay 3rd – Fallguy 4th – Blue Cougar
TAIPAN RULER (C.Baker) stood in the barriers and failed to jump. Stewards ordered that TAIPAN RULER perform a jump-out to the steward’s satisfaction.
CALL ME VICTOR (F.Okawa) refused to jump and then refused to gallop for the first 200m of the event. Stewards ordered that the gelding must perform to the stewards satisfaction in an official barrier trial.
GEDA DEE JAY (S.Wright) shifted out under pressure in the straight.
Trainer T.Meade reported that RAQEEB (K.Hutchins) had been found to be lame upon returning to the saddling enclosure. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding confirmed that the horse had injured its off-fore tendon. Stewards directed that a veterinary certificate of fitness be produced before racing again.
Race 4: Shell Roadhouse QTIS Added Stakes Handicap Class 2 – 1000m
1st – Dance for Bindy 2nd – Strong Po 3rd – Bold Benny 4th – I’m a Sequalo
BRIDGINGTHEPLANETS (G.Clegg) jumped away awkwardly.
EAGLE OWL (L.Fyfe) jumped away awkwardly making contact with CRAIGLEA MUSIC (C.Baker).
Leaving the 600m EAGLE OWL had to be eased from the heels of OH MARTINA (C.Bryen).
Rounding the home turn the saddle slipped on CRAIGLEA MUSIC, causing Jockey C.Baker to lose her irons. The saddle continued to near the 100m and CRAIGLEA MUSIC has shifted out making heavy contact with OH MARTINA.
DANCE FOR BINDY was very wide rounding the home turn.
After reports from riders that the barriers had moved whilst the horses had been loaded, stewards took evidence from the starter R.King. On the evidence placed before stewards and the video footage available, stewards ordered that all horses had been afforded a fair start.
Race 5: Tower Hardware Open Handicap – 1400m
1st – King Jon Jon 2nd – Classicus 3rd – Just Different 4th – Flying Kwila
JUST DIFFERENT (L.Fyfe) jumped in at the start making contact QUADRANGLE (S.Wright).
POLISH WARRIOR (I. French) was slow to begin.
CLASSICUS (W.Glass) over-raced from the 1000m until the 800m.
