Race 1 CATTLE CAMP HOTEL MAIDEN HCP – 1100M:

MYTH PRINT – Bumped by another runner at the start. Apprentice J. King was fined the sum of $300 for weighing in in excess of a half a kilogram over his allotted riding weight.

PAT’S WORLD – Bumped another runner on jumping away.

ROAR ABLIBERTY – Bumped another runner on jumping away.

FABLED DOMAIN – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.

PAT’S WORLD – Rider J. Geppert stated that his mount raced greenly throughout and resented the kick back from the track. He added that the horse did not respond to his riding at any stage.

Race 2 CHARLEVILLE TYRE SERVICE/CHARLEVILLE CONCRETE BMK 70 HCP – 1100M:

MYOR OF CLONMEL – When questioned with regards to the riding of the gelding in the early and middle stages, apprentice Q. Krogh stated that his instructions were to obtain a trailing position at the rear of the field as the horse finishes off its races better when ridden this way. He further stated that his mount did get further back in the early stages than he had anticipated before he placed his mount under pressure from the 600m and finished the race off well. Trainer T. Austin confirmed the instructions. Stewards advised apprentice Krogh that he had made an error in judgment in not making a greater effort to improve his position between the 900 and the 600m, however considering his relative inexperience did not take any further action other than to bring his riding to the attention of Racing Queensland Training Department.

Race 3 BERNADETTE DOYLE ACCOUNTING/CHARLEVILLE PHARMACY BMK 60 HCP – 1400M:

CASTLEDALE LAD – Knuckled on jumping away and lost ground.

RUBIS – Began awkwardly. Overraced in the early stages.

Race 4 FRANK CAVANOUGH MEMORIAL QTIS BMK 55 HCP – 1200M:

As there were no riders available, stewards declared MIRFAK and EVERYTHING TO GAIN late withdrawals at 3.00 pm.

DASHING CONQUERER – Knuckled at the start. Shifted in near the 850m despite the efforts of rider causing tightening to other runners.

WARCRUSHER – Raced wide throughout the event. When questioned, jockey J. Rudd stated that he was instructed not to position his mount inside runners as it resents racing this way and will not put in a genuine effort. He added for this reason he raced wide where the horse was comfortable. Trainer B. Waldron confirmed the instructions. Stewards noted the explanation.

ASTRO NASCENTE – Checked when tightened for room near the 850m and lost ground.

TRANSPIRE – Slow to begin and then bumped by another runner at the start.

COUNTY GOLD - Hung out rounding the home turn.

AIN’T GOING DOWN - Tightened for room near the 850m.

GIANT CRUSHER – Began awkwardly and bumped another runner.

Race 5 WOOLLAMS CONSTRUCTION CHARLEVILLE CUP OPEN HCP – 1620M:

OFORAWESOME – Began awkwardly and was then slow into stride.

MANFRED THE MAN – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg. Trainer E. Johnson was advised that he would be required to provide a veterinary clearance before the horse starts again. Trainer E. Jonson pleaded guilty to a charge under AR140 (a) for failing to notify an occurrence which may have affected the horse’s performance in the race, namely that it had struck its off hind leg in the tie up stalls prior to the race. After taking into account Mr Johnson’s good record and his forthright evidence, stewards fined Mr Johnson $200.

PREACHER BOY - Following a complaint from trainer S. Iverson with regards to jockey J. Geppert’s riding of PREACHER BOY, stewards adjourned the inquiry to a date and time to be fixed so stewards can review the previous runs of that gelding. A post-race veterinary examination of PREACHER BOY revealed the gelding to be sore in the near fore fetlock. Trainer S. Iverson was advised that he would be required to provide a veterinary clearance before the horse races again.
