SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS
Stewards today concluded an adjourned inquiry into the running and handling of Pedro’s Amaizing during the Craiglea Stud/Marr’s Furniture Removals Downs Series Class 6 Plate 1400m at the Dalby & Northern Downs Jockey Club on the 5th November 2005.
After taking further evidence from both Trainer Andrew Donnelly and Jockey Leanne McCoy and perusal of Pedro’s Amaizings’ previous starts, Jockey L McCoy was found guilty of a charge under AR135(b)&(c) in that as the rider of Pedro’s Amaizing she failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to win or finish in the best possible position.
The particulars of the charge being that she failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures by way of the fact that she failed to ride her horse forward during the first 200m to take up a forward position as is the horses regular racing pattern.
Furthermore, she failed to push to retain a position to the inside of Red Mountain from the 1200m until the 1100m when it was both reasonable and permissible to do so.
She then failed also to push to retain her position behind Red Mountain and to the inside of Rip ‘N’ Beauty, between the 1100m until the 800m, at which point she allowed Rip ‘n’ Beauty to cross to the fence, when it was both reasonable and permissible to retain that position.
She then, when losing ground, failed also to place her horse under pressure from the 800m until the 700m when it was both reasonable and permissible to do so.
Jockey L McCoy’s’ license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 3 months to commence midnight 17th November 2005 and to conclude midnight 17th February 2006. Stewards ruled that this suspension is to be served cumulatively with a careless riding suspension incurred at the Dalby meeting on the 5th November, which concludes 17th November 2005.
