Supplementary Reports
Warwick 1 June 2013
Stewards recommenced an inquiry into J. Kehoe’s riding of ETERNO in race 3, in particular the reasons for him racing in an extremely wide position throughout the race. J. Kehoe stated that he rode forward in accordance with his instructions however was not able to clear runners to his inside in the early stages. He added that when attempting to ride forward approaching the 900m, inside runners shifted out and due to being committed to going forward, he was forced to race wide for the remainder of the event. Trainer B. Robinson confirmed the instructions, adding that the horse does possess good early gate speed. After considering all evidence, stewards advised J. Kehoe that he had misjudged the early pace of the race, in that when he was unable to cross runners to his inside, he continued to attempt to ride forward to obtain a position near the lead, when he could have explored an opportunity to come back and obtain cover. Stewards while being mindful of the circumstances of the race, informed J. Kehoe that a rider of his experience would be expected to show greater judgment than he had done on this occasion and that his ride would be kept for future reference.

SHAKES (L Tilley) moved out on jumping away bumping GRAIN TRADER (S Apthorpe)
A protest was entered by the connections of the 4th placed GRAIN TRADER against 3rd placed FEAR NO OTHER (D McMaster) on the grounds of tightening approaching the winning post. After taking statements from the parties concerned and reviewing the patrol footage the objection was dismissed and the placings stood. Stewards believed that the tightening was just prior to the finishing line and the inconvenience to GRAIN TRADER was not sufficient to warrant upholding the protest.
Approaching the 220m ANCHOR BOLT (L McCOY) attempted to take a run between FEAR NO OTHER to its inside and SHAKES (L Tilley) to its outside. At the 180m FEAR NO OTHER shifted out and SHAKES moved inwards at the same time closing the run to ANCHOR BOLT.
