WEATHER - FINE TRACK - FAST RAIL - In true position

Late Riding changes:

As Apprentice L. Attard was unavailable due to illness, the following substitutions were made: Race 3, J. C. Esser to ride SLICK SLOT; Race 4, W. J. Cook to ride NEAT 'N' TIDY. Apprentice Attard will be required to furnish a medical clearance before being permitted to ride again.

RACE 1: CLASS 4 HANDICAP - 1000 METRES

The connections of CONNICK advised stewards that they would be instructing Jockey M. Campbell to refrain from using the whip on the horse as in its previous starts it had shown a resentment to its use. A public announcement was made to this effect.

The starting time of the race was delayed 10 minutes because of the late arrival of the ambulance on course.

SAM'S GOLD and KWILA'S IMAGE were slow to begin and lost ground.

RACE 2: CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1000 METRES

There were no racing incidents.

RACE 3: CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1000 METRES

After being placed in the barriers LITTLE BULLA SPUR became fractious and kicked out, striking the internal partition of its stall. LITTLE BULLA SPUR was examined by the Club veterinary surgeon and acting on his advice that the horse had sustained a deep laceration to the near hind cannon, stewards ordered the withdrawal of LITTLE BULLA SPUR at 3.02 p.m. Subsequently they ordered that all bets made on LITTLE BULLA SPUR be refunded in full and that all bets made with bookmakers prior to the withdrawal of LITTLE BULLA SPUR be paid less the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of tickets: win 31¢; place 21¢.

There were no racing incidents in running.

RACE 4: CLASS PLATE - 1200 METRES

Rounding the home turn NEAT 'N' TIDY hung out and slightly hampered PERSIAN SPY.
