SHORTY’S CHOICE (J. Rudd) and RAVISSANTE FILLE (T. Hill) raced wide in the early and middle stages.
PERSPECTIVE (R. Sue-San) shifted wider under pressure rounding the home turn.
When questioned as to the disappointing performance of LOST EVERYTHING, Jockey C. Gilby stated that LOST EVERYTHING began well and was easily able to take up a leading position. Jockey Gilby added that the LOST EVERYTHING travelled well until the 400 metres were he placed the gelding under pressure at which point it responded only fairly and failed to finish the race off as expected. Trainer G. Tipping agreed with the comments of jockey Gilby but added that this was the gelding’s second start in a race and was of the opinion that LOST EVERYTHING would improve with further racing. A post-race veterinary examination of LOST EVERYTHING failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. The explanations were noted.
Race 2: Wi8les Road Services QTIS Class 2 Handicap – 1000 metres:
1st – ZAHA’S GEM 2nd – BARBIZON - VIVIR 4th – READY TO BURN
MANHATTAN LAD (M. Cummings) knuckled at the start and as a consequence lost ground.
DOUBLE LINES (T. Hill) was slow to muster any early speed.
SIR SISTER (J. Rudd), VIVIR (R. Sue-San) and RAPT IN RHYTHM (J. Esser) all of which raced wide throughout the event.
Returning to scale Jockey M. Cummings reported that after MANHATTAN LAD knuckled at the start he was forced to race at the tail of the field. Jockey Cummings added that MANHATTAN LAD travelled well through the event and when he placed the gelding under pressure near the 400 metres responded to his riding. Jockey Cummings further stated that MANHATTAN LAD, which was first up from a spell may have peaked on its run over the concluding stages and would take benefit from today’s performance.
When questioned as to the performance of READY TO BURN which performed below market expectations, Jockey D. Ballard stated that READY TO BURN began fairly and had to be ridden hard to take up a forward position in the early stages. Jockey Ballard added that he placed the gelding under pressure leaving the 600 metres at which point it responded only fairly and failed to finish of the race as expected. Trainer J. Morris agreed with the comments of Jockey Ballard, and in his opinion READY TO BURN which was having its first start for the stable may prefer racing over further distance. Mr Morris noted his intention to step the gelding up in distance at its next race start. The explanations where noted.

1st – GLOBAL 2nd – SUDDENLY SWEET 3rd – FRANGELA 4th – SUNTRICE

SUDDENLY SWEET (K. Ballard) raced wide in the early stages of the event.
When questioned as to the seemingly disappointing performance of SUNTRICE, Jockey C. Gilby stated that SUNTRICE began well and travelled comfortably throughout the event. However, Jockey Gilby was of the view that SUNTRICE failed to see out the 1200 metres of today’s event. Trainer G. Tipping agreed with the comments of jockey Gilby and added that SUNTRICE may be better suited to races over as evidence by its last two race starts. Tipping also felt that SUNTRICE may perform better when given more time to recover between runs. The explanations where noted.
When questioned as to the performance of STROM BLEU, Jockey R. Sue-San stated after beginning awkwardly at the start STROM BLEU raced only fairly in the early stages before improving into the race in the middle stages. Jockey Sue-San added that he placed the gelding under pressure near the 600 metres at which point it began to respond to his riding however peaked on its run over the concluding stages and finished the race off only fairly. Trainer P. Inwood advised that he intended on stepping STROM BLUE up in distance at the gelding’s next start. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. When questioned as to the performance of PREMIXA, Jockey D. Ballard stated PREMIXA failed to muster any early speed and as such he was forced to pressure the gelding for the majority of the event. Jockey Ballard added that near the 400 metres where he was able to ride the gelding vigorously it began to respond to his riding and finished off the race well. Jockey Ballard added that PREMIXA had dropped in distance from its most previous start and in his belief would benefit from races over further distance. Trainer J. Morris agreed with the comments of Jockey Ballard and indicated that if he was able to find suitable races he would step the gelding up in distance. The explanations where noted.
