T. Brummell rode MASTER OF REALITY.
T. Chambers rode MARUMUNGEE.
K. Ballard rode BANDIDAS (NZ).
LET IT LOOSE (T. Hill) jumped well as the gates opened however, was slow into stride. As this had also occurred at the mare’s previous start a warning was placed on its starting behaviour.
EVERYTHING’S SET (M. Hart) was slow into stride. Jockey Hart advised Stewards that the gelding was restless in the barrier and took a step backwards as the gates opened and he then rode aggressively with the whip early as he had been instructed to ride the gelding in a forward position. EVERYTHING’S SET also travelled wide rounding the 800 metre turn.
MASTER OF REALITY (T. Brummell) raced wide rounding the 800 metre and home turns.
LAREDO (A. Spradau) raced wide rounding the 800 metre turn.
BANDIDAS (NZ) (K. Ballard) raced wide rounding the home turn.
Race 2: JOE BAKHASH SENIOR MEMORIAL MAIDEN HANDICAP. (1000 METRES) ( 8 Starters).
1st - TAP IN BIRDIE 2nd - MAYBE MAYBE NOT 3rd - DOUBLE REJOICE 4th - KISSENGARNI
As no other suitable rider was available, Stewards allowed A. Spradau to ride MAD ACTION One and a half Kilograms overweight. .
T. Hill rode KISSENGARNI.
MAD ACTION was loaded into the barriers riderless. On being loaded, Jockey Spradau was experiencing trouble settling MAD ACTION and as a result it jumped into the air and then headed abruptly towards the inside rail. Jockey Spradau then gained control and MAD ACTION commenced racing after losing much ground. Starter and Jockey Spradau interviewed re incident and after hearing submissions from both parties no further action was taken.
Jockey K. Ballard the rider of GRACE ACE was interviewed re the mare’s apparent disappointing performance. Rider advised mare was awkward in the barriers immediately prior to jumping and threw its head into the air on jumping. It then resented the throwback and did not improve throughout the race and never appeared likely to fill a place. Explanation noted.
PETRONI (NZ) (J. Rudd) raced wide rounding the 800 metre and home turns.
KISSENGARNI (T. Hill) raced wide rounding the home turn.

A. Spradau rode SURPASSER.
K. Ballard rode GOLDEN PAPILLION.
J. Rudd rode PARIS ICON.
DEMI the DANCER (Ms T. Chambers), was restless in the gates prior to the start.
PARIS ICON (J. Rudd), jumped into the air and outwards as the gates opened, SURPASSER (A. Spradau) jumped inwards as gates opened, which resulted in DEMI the DANCER being tightened between those two runners.
GOLDEN PAPILLION (K. Ballard) and EXCEED ALL LIMITS (T. Hill) both raced wide rounding the 800 metre turn.

ABDICATED (D. Ballard) was slowly away.
LUCASAM (R. Faehr) was slow to go and raced wide rounding the home turn.
STELLAR SHOW (K. Ballard) raced wide rounding the home turn.
Jockey D. Ballard on being interviewed re the performance of ABDICATED described it as very disappointing. He added the horse was under pressure to stay midfield and was off the bit most of the event before finishing last.
Jockey A. Morrison who rode FASTER BUSTER on being interviewed re the performance of that gelding advised that when he attempted to go forward near the 700 metres the horse could not improve its position and finished eighth. He advised the gelding pulled up satisfactorily.
Jockey Ms T. Chambers who rode BOLTON which finished sixth, on being interviewed re the performance of that gelding advised it had jumped well and she intended riding the gelding midfield position as in her opinion the horse would race best when ridden in this mannor. She stated she believed the gelding had made some ground from the 600 metres and that it had pulled up satisfactorily, especially considering the high temperature today.
