Jockey F.Edwards was advised to show more care in the future after allowing his mount BLUEDANU to shift inwards at the 950mtr mark and hamper the running of SUSIE QUE (R.Ryan). Both at the 850 and the 500mtr marks of the event ALLEZ SLEW (J.Felix) had to be restrained after racing up onto the heels of REBEL ZIP (J.Cairns).

SUN QUEEN (F.Edwards) was slow into stride as the gates opened. LONDINE (D.Canny) jumped inwards as the start was effected. At the 600mtr mark of the event HIGH TRUMPS (S.Watkin) shifted inwards and struck the running rail, then hung out when rounding the home turn, Jockey Watkins could offer no explanation for the horse.

RACE THREE Maiden Handicap 1000 Metres 7 Starters
In the early to middle stages of the event BARON LAD (J.Lewis) raced very greenly and was inclined to hang off the track. When rounding the home turn SILVER REIN (I.Coombes) shifted in marginally which resulted in BARON LAD (J.Lewis) shifting out across that horses heels and take SUSANNE’S MUSIC (J.Cairns) wide on the track.

RACE FOUR Class 2 Handicap 1250 Metres 7 Starters
MOWBRAY PARK returned to the enclosure with blood in both nostrils and as such was declared a bleeder under the terms of Ar53A, Trainer T.Prior was advised that MOWBRAY PARK has now incurred a three month ban from racing. Stewards inquired into an incident which occurred at approximately the 100mtr mark, when MAXEVON (R.Ryan) shifted inwards and took STARSHO (S.Watkin) inwards which resulted in BISTRO (J.Cairns) being checked. After taking evidence from the riders involved the Stewards charge Jockey R.Ryan with careless riding under the terms of Ar137(a). Jockey Ryan was found guilty of the charge and subsequently suspended from riding in races from midnight 22nd May 2001 up to and including the 2nd June 2001, being a period covered by 2 race meetings.

RACE FIVE Class 3 Handicap 1400 Metres 9 Starters
Jockey J.Felix was the replacement rider for POLAR SNIP (D.Dean) when the declared rider failed to fulfill his engagement, the Stewards intend to interview Jockey D.Dean at a later date as to the reason for this. At approximately the 500mtr mark POLAR SNIP (J.Felix) shifted inwards marginally and hampered the running of APACHE GRIN (K.Rockett). Stewards questioned both Jockey I.Coombes and Trainer W.Massingham, as to the reason COOYONG was ridden up on the pace in this event, after taking evidence from both parties, Stewards advised Mr Massingham that the evidence would be noted for future reference, also that the Stewards expect the horse to be ridden in a consistent manner.

RACE SIX 2yo Handicap 1250 Metres 11 Starters
REGULATE was a scratching at 2.50pm by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice when it was reported that the horse was lame. Jockey K.Rockett was the replacement rider for MISS BUNGEE BROWN (P.Crich) when the declared rider was unable to make the weight, Jockey Crich was issued a reprimand and advised that a repeat would incur a stronger action being taken by the Stewards. At approximately the 400mtr mark of the event MISS BUNGEE BROWN (K.Rockett) shifted outwards marginally and made contact with the hind quarters of STRICTLY JACK (D.Philpot) which in turn made contact with AMARANTE (D.Canny). Jockey F.Edwards was advised to show more care in the future after allowing his mount to shift ground over the concluding stages of the event.
