CAIRNS AMATEUR TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT 14/09/2002

STEWARDS PANEL: R Doyle (Chairman) S Railton, D Griffiths, B Gray, S Abell, K Smith

WEATHER – FINE TRACK – GOOD RAIL – TRUE

RACE 1: GULF H'CAP - 1250M

As M CULLEN was indisposed, D Canny was substituted as the rider of ARCH DUKE.

A Veterinary examination of DESERT CROWN, which was slow into stride and tailed off throughout the event, revealed that the gelding was lame in the near hind leg. Trainer R BRADSHAW was advised that DESERT CROWN must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to its next race start. He was also advised that he would be required to produce a veterinary certificate prior to its next race start.

L ABBOTT lost her right iron when her mount REAL ASSET and ARCH BUKE made heavy contact at the 900m

RECEIVING STATION made the 900m turn awkwardly shifting out. At the same time CANADIAN PRINCE which was travelling on the outside of RECEIVING STATION had to be steadied.

BIKINI LOVE shifted in at the 200m resulting in MADISON AVENUE to be steadied to avoid the heels of BIKINI LOVE. L FITZSIMMONS, the rider of BIKINI LOVE was reprimanded.


RACE 2: SPRING CREEK H'CAP – 1000M

SMYTZER’S OFFICER reared at the start losing ground.

ARDRITZ was inclined to lay in over concluding stages of race.


RACE 3: STANBROKE DIAMANTINA BRACELET H'CAP - 1250M

MELLING received a 2kg penalty for its win on Friday 13 September 2002 and carried 59kgs.

BIG DIAMOND jumped in at the start crowding LET’S RAW.

LET’S RAW. Was held up for clear running until leaving the 200m

SEA SERENADE had to be steadied at the 1000m to avoid the heels of STARNOTION, which shifted in.






RACE 4: MACARTHUR COAL H'CAP – 1400M

CASTELOZOS was a late scratching at 8:40am. Trainer G PURDY was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to its next race start.

COOLANGATTA tended to over race at the 900m


RACE 5: AAMI CLASSIC H'CAP – 1400M

D CANNY the rider of MONGKE, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that near the 150m he allowed his mount to shifted in when not clear of GOLD KARAM, resulting in GOLD KARAM being crowded on to HARLEY, causing both horses to be checked. D CANNY was suspended for a period of 3 meetings, to commence at midnight on Saturday, 14 September 2002, and expires at midnight on Friday, 27 September 2002

KOSICE pulled up lame in the near fore fetlock. Trainer M LEE was advised that he would require a veterinary certificate prior to its next race start.


RACE 6: CARLTON DRAUGHT AMATEUR H'CAP – 2100M

CLOSING TIME was slow in to stride, then when leaving the 1500m tended to over race.


RACE 7: LIFE MEMBERS H'CAP – 900M

Leaving the 400m KEPPEL LAIR had to be steadied to avoid the heels of JESTARELLA BOY which shifted in. N PAINE, the rider of JESTARELLA BOY, was severely reprimanded.

D CANNY, the rider of SKY NYMPH, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that near the 200m he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of KEPPEL LAIR, resulting in KEPPEL LAIR hitting the fence and being checked. D CANNY was suspended from riding in races for a period of 5 meeting to be served concurrently with a suspension imposed in race 5 with the penalty to expire at midnight on Saturday 5 October 2002.
