After exercising his right to view the stewards patrol footage, D Evans rider of the second placegetter QUESTWIN lodged an objection against VARMINT (D Crossland) being declared the winner, alleging interference inside the final 100 metres.

Whilst it was established that near the 50 metres VARMINT did shift out towards QUESTWIN and may have made slight contact, stewards were of the opinion, that such contact was not of a degree to cost QUESTWIN ground and therefore dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the numbers semaphored.

When questioned regarding the performance of COMMAND THE WIND, rider G Kliese stated that COMMAND THE WIND had travelled well throughout the event and improved well approaching the home turn, however failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the straight and in his opinion was disappointing.
