RAIL IN TRUE POSITION


RACE 1: MAIDEN PLATE – 1250 Metres – 14 Starters

DORIAN (D Crossland) was slow to begin.

CADENCE (L Nelson) and SIR ARCHIE (J Stanley) jumped away awkwardly.

DORIAN (D Crossland) made the 1000 metre turn awkwardly.

Leaving the 800 metres LOOK FOR PEACE (I Toward) improved up onto the heels of CADENCE (L Nelson) and had to be steadied.

D Crossland rider of DORIAN was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that near the 400 metres he did allow his mount to shift in when not clear of SIR ARCHIE (J Stanley) resulting in that horse having to be checked. D Crossland’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period covered by 4 North Queensland meetings to commence at midnight Saturday the 11th of September 2004 up to and including the 21st of September 2004.

Approaching the 200 metres SIR ARCHIE (J Stanley) shifted out to obtain clear running and made contact with LOOK FOR PEACE (I Toward). As a result of this contact SIR ARCHIE (J Stanley) became unbalanced and shifted in making contact with ON THE FAIRWAY (J Stopps) which in turn shifted in and tightened the running of CASTLE TOWERS (G Kliese).

G Kliese rider of CASTLE TOWERS was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out to the finishing line.


RACE 2: CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1400 Metres – 14 Starters

The racebook incorrectly advertised this event as a CLASS 2 Handicap, when in fact it is a CLASS 1 Handicap.

BE IMPRESSIVE (NZ) (M Bennett) which broke through the barrier stalls prior to the start was inspected by the club veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

GET SALTY (J Stanley) raced in restricted for a short distance rounding the 1000 metres turn.

Approaching the 800 metres SELLING STRIDES (D Crossland) improved up onto the heels of (STARDINI) and had to be steadied




Approaching the winning post GET SALTY (J Stanley) had to steadied when tightened for room between POLONIUS (P Cullen) and SELLING STRIDES (D Crossland) both of which shifted ground. P Cullen rider of POLONIUS and D Crossland rider of SELLING STRIDES were both advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

TARA BRIGHT (S Shield) was obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages of the event.


RACE 3: CLASS 3 HANDICAP - 1250 Metres - 12 Starters

Apprentice Leanne Buckingham the rider of TAY EXPRESS incorrectly claimed a 2kg allowance in this event, believing the race meeting to be a Country classification. Accordingly the Stewards ordered that TAY EXPRESS be returned to the enclosure and the rider re-weighed to claim her 3kg allowance that she is entitled to at Provincial race meetings.

GLASSHOUSE (W Kenning) was slow to begin.

KING COCKY (D Dean) over raced in the middle stages of the event.

Near the 200 metres VITEGIC (D Crossland) shifted in and made contact with CERAUNO (G Kliese)

Approaching the 100 metres VITEGIC (D Crossland) and BLITZ (P Cullen) made contact. As a result of this contact BLITZ (P Cullen) became unbalanced and shifted out abruptly.

RACE 4: CLASS 4 HANDICAP - 1400 Metres - 13 Starters

ENDING (S Shield) jumped in at the start and made contact with LEICA FERRARI (M Elliot) which shifted in placing I’M A WARRIOR (J Taylor) and IN THE WINGS in restricted room. ENDING (S Shield) continued to shift in resulting in further tightening to LEICA FERRARI (M Elliot), I’M A WARRIOR (J Taylor) and IN THE WINGS (P Cullen). As a result of this tightening I’M A WARRIOR (J Taylor) and IN THE WINGS had to be checked. S Shield rider of ENDING was severely reprimanded and advised that he must make more effort to keep his mounts straight in future.

Leaving the 1100 metres ENDING (S Shield) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of
GIVE AND TELL (G Kliese) which shifted in.

Approaching the 1000 metres LEICA FERRARI (M Elliot) shifted in despite the efforts of its rider resulting in IN THE WINGS (P Cullen) having to be checked to avoid that horses heels.

ENDING (S Shield) made the 1000 metre turn awkwardly and shifted out and had to be steadied off the heels of ELASTICITY (F Edwards).

RACE 5: OPEN HANDICAP - 1400 Metres - 14 Starters

The race book incorrectly advertised the first place prize money for this event as $26 900, when in fact it was $24 900.

Apprentices could not claim in this event, as per the official programme, this was not listed in the race
book.

EYES AND TEES (J Taylor) raced ungenerously in the early stages of the event.

Approaching the 700 metres EL QABOW (I Toward) which was over racing clipped the heels of EYES AND TEES

Leaving the 200 metres RAISE ‘N’ WIN (R Mules) shifted in resulting in SHAMROCKS (W Kenning) having to be steadied and alter course to avoid that horses heels. R Mules rider of RAISE ‘N’ WIN was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances

RACE 6: OPEN HANDICAP - 2100 Metres - 13 Starters

Apprentices could not claim in this event, as per the official programme, this was not listed in the racebook.

Near the 400 metres A THOUSAND DEGREES (I Toward) had to be steadied when tightened for room between QUESTWIN (M Carson) which shifted out slightly and CAUTIOUS SPIRIT (J Stopps) which shifted in. J Stopps rider of CAUTIOUS SPIRIT was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in the future.

WANDDINI (E.Kowald) hung inwards when rounding the 1400mtr turn.


RACE 7: CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1000 Metres - 12 Starters

The race book incorrectly advertised this event as a CLASS 5 Handicap, when in fact it is a CLASS 2 Handicap.

As Jockey R.Bellert was indisposed, Stewards permitted Jockey M.Carson to be the replacement rider for ZEDAFFAIRS.

As Jockey K.Brady was indisposed, Stewards permitted Jockey I.Toward to be the replacement rider for LET’S GROOVE.

As Jockey S.Shield became indisposed, Stewards permitted Jockey E.Kowald to be the replacement rider for ANOTHER TWINKLE.

As ZEDAFFAIRS and CAPE MYSTERY were presented with the wrong saddlecloth numbers, stewards ordered both saddles be removed and riders of both horses be reweighed.

At a subsequent inquiry it was revealed that jockey D Green rider of CAPE MYSTERY and M Carson rider of ZEDAFFAIRS were advised wrongly by the clerk of scales in relation to their number cloths.

As Jockey S.Shield became indisposed, Stewards permitted Jockey E.Kowald to be the replacement rider for ANOTHER TWINKLE.

ANOTHER TWINKLE (E.Kowald) and YONG CHEE (J.Taylor) both knuckled when leaving the barriers.

At approximately the 100mtr mark WISHFUL MISS (D.Crossland) commenced to lay outwards under pressure.

Just prior to the winning post OUR MATISSE (P.Cullen) ducked inwards abruptly, which caused Jockey Cullen to stop riding and straighten his mount. This shift resulted in BABINDA HALF (G.Kliese) being momentarily hampered.
