LATE RIDING CHANGES:

As K. Rockett, the declared rider for WHATSATWATONILLE in Race 2 and FRAME WORK in Race 3, was to be overweight, the following substitutions were made: Race 2, I. Toward to ride WHATSATWATONVILLE; Race 3, D. Philpot to ride FRAME WORK. K. Rockett was fined $75 in respect of each breach of A.R. 120(b), a total of $150.

When S. Katsidis was overweight, the following substitutions were made: Race 4, P. Cullen to ride SPOT OF TROUBLE; Race 5, G. Cullen to ride TAY EXPRESS; Race 8, I. Toward to ride LE COUP. S. Katsidis was fined $250 in respect of each breach of A.R. 120(b), a total of $750.

Race 1: Life Member Maiden Handicap - 1000 metres
1st - ALPHA ROMEO GEORGE 2nd - DESERT STAR 3rd - DESERT NORTH 4th - LIL’ MISS INNOCENT

Stewards considered an objection lodged by Apprentice D. D’Addona, the rider of LIL’ MISS INNOCENT which finished fourth, against ALPHA ROMEO GEORGE (D. Philpot) being declared the winner, alleging interference at about the 500 metres. After viewing the official films and taking evidence from the parties involved, stewards found that any interference caused by ALPHA ROMEO GEORGE to LIL’ MISS INNOCENT did not materially affect the respective placings of the two horses. Therefore the protest was dismissed and the placings ordered to stand.

At the start DESERT NORTH (F. Edwards) shifted out and brushed ALPHA ROMEO GEORGE (D. Philpot).

On jumping TACTICAL STAR (A. Cox) and LITTLE CUTIE (G. Cullen) came together.

Near the 500 metres AL FAIQ (Apprentice R. Plumb) shifted in and inconvenienced TACTICAL STAR (A. Cox), which commenced to hang out after being restrained.

At about the 450 metres YUMIKO (J. Stopps) was disappointed for a run between STRENGTH AND HONOUR (G. Kliese), which shifted out, and LOCK OUT (D. Green), which shifted in slightly.

Approaching the home turn YUMIKO (J. Stopps) had to be eased to avoid the heels of STRENGTH AND HONOUR (G. Kliese).

Jockey D. Philpot, the rider of ALPHA ROMEO GEORGE, was severely reprimanded for permitting her mount to shift out from the home turn to the winning post and inconvenience AL FAIQ (Apprentice R. Plumb), which in turn shifted out and took DESERT STAR (P. Cullen) wider.

Race 2: Babinda Electrics Class 1 Handicap - 1250 metres
1st - PYRAMID RAIDER 2nd - JAZZOOM 3rd - IN NEW YORK 4th - BRINY WAG

ESTELITO (D. Crossland) proved difficult to load into the barriers. Trainer Mr R. Chillemi was advised that ESTELITO was barred from competing at licensed meetings until such time as it performs to the satisfaction of stewards in an official

Jockey S. Katsidis, the rider of PYRAMID RAIDER, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under A.R. 137(a), in that soon after the start he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting inwards when insufficiently clear of WHATSATWATONVILLE (I. Toward), resulting in that horse being hampered and dictated inwards, interfering with the running of IN NEW YORK (D. Philpot), which was checked and taken inwards, taking the running of NEBULA (P. Cullen), which checked severely, blundered and lost its position in the field. S. Katsidis was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence at midnight on Wednesday, 14th September 2005, up to and including Sunday, 25th September 2005 (8 SEQ meetings). Following this incident NEBULA broke down and was retired from the event by its rider.

Near the 1000 metres EUSTON FLYER (A. Cox), which was racing ungenerously, shifted out, taking RED CHINA DOLL (D. Green) wider. EUSTON FLYER then continued to race ungenerously and near the 600 shifted out badly and hampered IN NEW YORK (D. Philpot).

Race 3: Queensland Rail Traveltrain Bangle Class 2 Handicap - 1400 metres
1st - WOODIDIERE 2nd - ARLINGTON HALL 3rd - LUBERON 4th - STAR REVUNDO

ARLINGTON HALL (S. Katsidis) and FINAL COUNTY (L. Buckingham) came together at the start.

OUR ACE (D. Green) was slow to begin.

In the early and middle stages SIN PENSARLO (M. Bennett) overraced and was reluctant to settle.

Near the 900 metres SHANACHIE (I. Toward) commenced to hang out.

Race 4: Cairns Post Class 4 Handicap - 1000 metres
1st - SLICK SCORE 2nd - CHAIN OF THOUGHT 3rd - JEWEL OF DAINTREE 4th - SPOT OF TROUBLE

As S. Katsidis was overweight, P. Cullen was substituted as the rider of SPOT OF TROUBLE

At the start JEWEL OF DAINTREE (Apprentice R. Plumb) shifted out, taking MISS PENNYWEIGHT (F. Edwards) out onto CHAIN OF THOUGHT (G. Kliese) and resulting in SLICK SCORE (W. Kenning) being hampered.

Near the 500 metres JEWEL OF DAINTREE (Apprentice R. Plumb) shifted in and brushed the running rail.

Race 5: The Reef Hotel Casino Governor’s Trophy Handicap Class 5 Handicap - 1250 metres
1st - TRIP TO MANILA 2nd - SISTER CATHERINE 3rd - RELOADED 4th - WISE UP

As S. Katsidis was overweight, G. Cullen was substituted as the rider of TAY EXPRESS.

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow D. Green, the rider of RELOADED which was placed third by the Judge, to view the official photo finish
print. Subsequently correct weight was notified.

QUAYTMAN (J. Stopps) was slow to begin.

RELOADED (D. Green) dipped on jumping.

About the 1000 metres RELOADED (D. Green) shifted out slightly, taking CYMBALIST (M. Bennett) wider.

Leaving the 900 metres CYMBALIST (M. Bennett) had to be eased to avoid the heels of RELOADED (D. Green), which hung out.

At about the 800 metres TAY EXPRESS (G. Cullen) was checked when TRIP TO MANILA (D. Crossland) shifted in when not quite clear and the pace slowed. D. Crossland was severely reprimanded and reminded of the provisions of A.R. 137(d). G. Cullen was warned about the provisions of A.R. 175(g) relating to misleading evidence.

Near the 400 metres RELOADED (D. Green) and QUAYTMAN (J. Stopps) bumped.

Near the 250 metres RELOADED (D. Green) commenced to shift out, obliging its rider to stop riding and straighten his mount.

Race 6: Thiess “Sir Sydney Williams, OBE Trophy Open Handicap - 1000 metres
1st - BORROLOOLA LAD 2nd - DIDJANO 3rd - STOP WATCH 4th -

Stewards considered an objection lodged by L. Abbott, the rider of POCKETSFIL which finished fourth, against DIDJANO (D. Armstrong) being declared second, alleging interference over the final 100 metres. After taking evidence from the parties involved and viewing the official films, stewards dismissed the protest and ordered that the placings stand when they found that the interference suffered by POCKETSFIL did not materially affect the finishing places of the respective horses.

POCKETSFIL (L. Abbott) and RECORD TIME (M. Bennett) brushed at the start.

A post-race veterinary examination of VITEGIC (D. Crossland) revealed that the gelding had sustained a bowed off fore tendon.

Following the race the veterinary surgeon reported that HOT CYMBAL (J. P. Stanley) had been galloped on.

Race 7: Simon George & Sons Handicap Open Handicap - 1250 metres
1st - STRICTLY FAST 2nd - RUGGLES 3rd - KARAMAZOU 4th - OUR MATISSE

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow K. Rockett to view the patrol film of the straight. After viewing the film K. Rockett decided not to lodge an objection.

Approaching the 800 metres UNDENIED (D. Crossland) raced up onto the heels of SAHARA COVET (A. Merritt), which was overracing, and when eased shifted in and brushed the running rail. As a result, LITTLE MISS ARIES (M. Bennett) was eased to avoid the heels of SAHARA COVET.

Jockey A. Merritt (SAHARA COVET) accidentally dropped his whip at the 200 metres.

On the winning post KARAMAZOU (K. Rockett) shifted in and crowded OUR MATISSE (P. Cullen). Shortly after the winning post LE COUP (I. Toward) shifted in and took KARAMAZOU in onto OUT MATISSE (P. Cullen) which struck the running rail and became unbalanced, placing P. Cullen at a considerable disadvantage. Both K. Rockett and I,. Toward were severely admonished.

Race 8: Grant Burge Wines (QTIS Added Stakes) Class 6 Handicap - 1400 metres
1st - SECRET RAIN 2nd - LOS ALTOS 3rd - TROUBEAUT 4th - FUBUTU

When S. Katsidis was overweight, I. Toward was substituted as the rider of LE COUP.

SKYWAYS (M. Bennett) was fractious in the barriers.

After being placed in the barriers PALEFACE BEN (F. Edwards) became fractious, reared, dislodged its rider and became cast. PALEFACE BEN was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon and, acting on his advice that the gelding was unfit to start, stewards ordered the withdrawal of PALEFACE BEN at 5.12 p.m. Subsequently they ordered that all bets made on PALEFACE BEN be refunded in full and that all bets made prior to the withdrawal of PALEFACE BEN be paid less the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of successful tickets: win 9¢; place 10¢.Trainer Mr W. Massingham was advised that PALEFACE BEN was barred from competing at licensed meetings until it barrier trials to the satisfaction of stewards.

On jumping LOS ALTOS (J. P. Stanley) shifted in, taking CANNY CRUISE (D. Philpot) in onto LE COUP (I. Toward).

Approaching the 850 metres CANNY CRUISE (D. Philpot) raced up onto the heels of FINAL (Apprentice R. Plumb) and was eased and shifted out.

At about the 800 metres SKYWAYS (M. Bennett) raced up onto the heels of TROUBEAUT (D. Crossland), raced ungenerously, was checked and shifted out onto LE COUP (I. Toward), which was also checked.

Leaving the 400 metres FINAL (Apprentice R. Plumb) was eased to avoid the heels of LOS ALTOS (J. P. Stanley).
