Race 6:
P. Cullen the ride of D’LORDSON pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137A5 (a)(2) in that he used his whip in a forehand manner on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. P. Cullen was fined the sum of $100.
Race 1: IGA FRESH MAIDEN PLATE 1250M
1st – BARAMUL BULLET 2nd – TRAWLER 3rd – COLUMBIA QUEEN 4th – IMADADTOO
SIANNAH’S JOY (J. Felix) was declared a late withdrawal at 1.17pm by order of Stewards, acting on veterinary advice, after the filly broke through the barriers and galloped for a considerable distance. On the announcement of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies invested on SIANNAH’S JOY be refunded in full and all successful wages made prior to 1.17pm be less the deductions of 7c in the dollar on the face value of the win ticket and 8c in the dollar on the face value of the place ticket. Trainer O. Cairns was advised that a further barrier certificate would be required prior to SIANNAH’S JOY racing again.
TAIMATU (J. Stopps) was slow to begin.
At the start, ELAINE’S REWARD (S. Morris) and LAWCOURT (G. Kliese) were both tightened for room between ON YOUR GUARD (F. Edwards) and PUDZIANOWSKI (M. Atkinson), both of which shifted ground.
BARAMUL BULLET (D. Crossland) raced wide during the early stages of the event.
TAIMATU (J. Stopps) raced wide throughout the event.
K. Rockett the rider of COLUMBIA QUEEN, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137A5 (a)(2) in that he used his whip in a forehand manner on 8 occasions prior to the 100m. K. Rockett was fined the sum of $400.
Race 2: PICCONES SUPA IGA CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1400M
1st – HAMATYM 2nd – PIZZICATO 3rd – BEAUTIFUL HAVANA 4th – NOVA NOIR
PRIVATE JAMES (J. Babarovich) was declared a late withdrawal at 1.58pm by order of Stewards, acting on veterinary advice, after the gelding broke away from its handler on entering the mounting enclosure and galloped for a considerable distance. On the announcement of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies invested on PRIVATE JAMES be refunded in full and all successful wages made prior to 1.58pm be less the deductions of 4c in the dollar on the face value of the win ticket and 5c in the dollar on the face value of the place ticket. Trainer F. Wieland was advised that PRIVATE JAMES must trial to the Stewards satisfaction prior to racing again.
BEAUTIFUL HAVANA (K. Rockett) was slow to begin.
At the start, CLIPSAL (J. Felix) was steadied when tightened for room between NOVA NOIR (M. Atkinson) and WINGEN LASS (M. Elliott), which shifted in.
Near the 700m, CLIPSAL (J. Felix) blundered of its own accord and became unbalanced. A short distance later CLIPSAL blundered badly of its own accord and lost considerable ground.
A post race veterinary advice of WINGEN LASS (M. Elliot) failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
Race 3: BUGEJA EARTHMOVING CLASS B HANDICAP 960M
1st – PALMERO PRINCE 2nd – TIBOOBURRA EMMA 3rd – MARLI’S MATE 4th – RASHEN ROULETTE
At the start, DISNA (J. Babarovich) was tightened for room between EZI GIRL (J. Stopps) and HIDDENA AFFAIR (App K. Cross), both of which shifted ground.
M. Atkinson the rider of TIBOOBURRA EMMA pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137 (a) in that near the 800m he permitted his mount to shift in when being insufficiently clear of SPECIAL WOMAN (G. Kliese) forcing that runner in across the running of VICE QUEEN (P. Cullen), resulting in SPECIAL WOMAN being checked and losing its rightful running. M. Atkinson’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period covered by 3 meetings to commence at midnight 15th May 2010 and to expire at midnight 29th May 2010.
S. Morris the rider of PALMERO PRINCE was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137 (a) in that near the 600m he permitted his mount to shift in when being insufficiently clear of TIBOOBURRA EMMA (M. Atkinson) causing that runner being tightened in onto HIDDEN AFFAIR (App K. Cross) which inturn was taken in and tightened DON’T BOW MATE (F. Edwards). In this incident both DON’T BOW MATE and HIDDEN AFFAIR were checked and lost their rightful running. S. Morris’ licence to ride in races was suspended for a period covered by 4 meetings to commence at midnight 15th May 2010 and to expire at midnight 3rd June 2010.
Race 4: SUPPLY PLUS QTIS 600 2YO HANDICAP 960M
1st – SHEZZA RICHES 2nd – HAM HOT DOG 3rd – GRAND ASSASAIN 4th – CRAFTY TRICK
On jumping away, S. Morris the rider of GRAND ASSASAIN lost the use of both stirrup irons and placed him at a severe disadvantage for the entire event.
At the start, UNIQUE BABY (P. Cullen) shifted in bumping LITTLE SHEILA (J. Babarovich).
Shortly after the start, LOU BRA (App K. Cross) shifted out making contact with GRAND ASSASAIN (S. Morris).
CRAFTY TRICK (D. Crossland) over raced during the early and middle stages of the event.
LITTLE SHEILA raced wide throughout the event.
Over the final 200m, CRAFTY TRICK shifted out when placed under pressure.
Race 5: JACKSON & JACKSON REFRIGERATION CLASS 4 HANDICAP 960M
1st – SCARE TACTIC 2ND – CANHEDANCE 3rd – ROSCO’S CIRCUS 4th – GENERAL VANDAL
As M. Atkinson was stood down due to illness, P. Cullen was substituted as the rider of BEAUTIFUL MOON. M. Atkinson was advised he must provide a medical clearance prior to riding again.
Shortly after the start, BEAUTIFUL MOON (P. Cullen) was tightened for room between GENERAL VANDAL (K. Rockett) and ROSCO’S CIRCUS (I. Toward), both of which shifted ground.
S. Morris the rider of CANHEDANCE pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that shortly after the start he permitted his mount to shift in when being insufficiently clear of GLOBAL SPIN (G. Kliese) resulting in GLOBAL SPIN, BIKKIE BARREL (S. Kaya) and DISCARDED BULLET (F. Edwards) all being tightened for room. In this incident both DISCARDED BULLET (F. Edwards) and GLOBAL SPIN (G. Kliese) both had to be checked. S. Morris’ licence to ride in races was suspended for a period covered by 5 meetings to commence at midnight 15th May 2010 and to expire at midnight 5th May 2010. Stewards ordered that this suspension be served concurrently with the suspension from Race 3.
Race 6: IGA CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1250M
1st – WAR EAGLE 2ND – MONTGRESIN 3rd – ALBERT’S IMAGE 4th – MIGHTY MITE
The start of this race was delayed due to ALBERT’S IMAGE having to be re plated behind the barriers.
XAARTRIK (J. Babarovich) was slow to begin.
