Connection of HEAVENLY HOPE advised prior to the race that jockey S Kaya had been advised to limit his use of the whip on the mare. Connections also advised that these instructions would be issued to the jockey in the mares future races.

KELLIE BE GOOD [N Bin Yadi] was very fractious in the barriers.

ELAINE’S REWARD [I Toward] was slow to begin.

Approaching the 250m mark, MILITANT [M Elliott] eased across the heels of KELLIE BE GOOD [N Bin Yadi] to gain clear running.

Apprentice B Swaffer reported that his mount LUCKY VEIL raced greenly in the early stages of the race.

Race 3: Piccone’s Shopping Village Class 6 Plate 960m

VILLAGE COMMAND [I Toward] and HITTAMAHOTTAMUS [S Pawsey] were slow to begin.

At the start, MISS RUBINSTEIN [S Kaya] jumped out and bumped PHYSICS [M Elliott], who in turn inconvenienced LADY LESIA [B Swaffer].

Approaching the 20m mark, LEGAL POSITION [F Edwards], had a tendency to hang in and had to be eased off the heels of CARVELON [R Ryan].

Stewards questioned jockeys M Elliott and F Edwards regarding an incident at the 400m mark where jockey Elliott had to ease PHYSICS off the heels of LEGAL POSITION, when it shifted in. After hearing evidence from the riders concerned and viewing the film stewards informed jockey Edwards that his riding was bordering on carelessness and he was issued with a severe reprimand for allowing his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of PHYSICS [M Elliott].

Apprentice B Swaffer reported that his mount LADY LESIA wanted to hang in for the length of the straight.

Race 4: PFD Foodservices and Pantacchini’s Class 2 Handicap 1400m
1st: Twentysixbe 2nd: Clues 3rd: No Wonder 4th: On The Rocks

At approximately the 800m mark, MISS HONAHLEE [N Bin Yadi] had to ease off the heels of ON THE ROCKS [F Edwards] due to the pace easing, which resulted in MISS HONAHLEE [N Bin Yadi] racing ungenerously for 50m.

CLUES [B Swaffer] was unable to obtain clear running over the concluding stages of the race until the 100m mark.

Race 5: Melbourne Cup At Cannon Park Class 1 Handicap 1250m
1st: Mendez 2nd: Kandee Queen 3rd: Heavenly View 4th: So Dotti

FORWARD SCOUT [S Pawsey] was slow to begin.

The explanation was noted.
