Race 1: FGF Bitumen QTIS Two-Year Old Maiden Handicap – 950 metres:
1st – RYLEE’S SAGA 2nd – NIC’S DRAGON 3rd – ALL OUT ATTACK 4th – ALL BAR LILY
Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer T Rowe for the late declaration of apprentice N Yadi as the rider of TURN UP THE VOLUME.
VERSIFY – Began awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with another runner.
TURN UP THE VOLUME – Was tightened for room at the start.
RYLEE’S SAGA – Was tightened for room at the start.
ALL OUT ATTACK – Hung out rounding the home turn.
ALL BAR LILLY – When questioned apprentice R Johnston-Bell stated that approaching the crossing near the 700m his mount blundered resulting in him becoming unbalanced and the saddle shifting to the near side which placed him at a disadvantage. Shortly after this he said his mount then commenced to hang out and was awkwardly placed on heels rounding the home turn and had to be steadied. He added that after becoming awkward on heels and whilst being unbalanced in the saddle he lost use of his irons which placed him at distinct disadvantage for the remainder of the race.
Race 2: Fowlers Group Benchmark 55 Handicap – 1250 metres:
1st – CASHED UP BULLY 2nd – FASCIA 3rd – PENTHOUSE POPPY 4th – SHYCHENKA
SPECIAL TALE – Began awkwardly.
LITTLE MISS EVA – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
Race 3: Piccones Shopping Village Maiden Handicap – 1250 metres:
1st – I’M MARIAH 2nd – SILVER STAR 3rd – JUMBO RUMBO 4th – WHISPERS
I’M MARIAH – Prior to the running of the race connection advised stewards that it was their intention to ride the mare in a rearward position. The mare was ridden accordingly.
SEMI SWEET – Slow to begin.
JUMBO RUMBO – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
SILVER STAR – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
Race 4: Bugeja Earthmoving Benchmark 75 Handicap – 1180 metres:
1st – BO ROSSA 2nd – BOOM SHA LA 3rd – RATTUS CONATUS 4th – DOYADEAL
BO ROSSA – Reared as the start was effected and lost considerable ground (4L).
CARAVAN SANG – Tightened for room at the start. Raced wide throughout the early and middle stages.
LIDEEM – Bumped shortly after the start.
GLADIUS – Slow to muster.
STIEG – When questioned regarding the poor performance jockey S Pawsey explained that his mount began awkwardly then travelled well throughout however when placed under pressure near the 400 metres the gelding responded only fairly. He added that the heavy impost of 62kgs was also to the detriment of the gelding’s performance.
Race 5: Book Your XMAS Party Benchmark 60 Handicap – 1500 metres:
1st – KATTER 2nd – DASH OF BLACK 3rd – BANDIDAS 4th – SAVE THE PLANET
SAVE THE PLANET – When the pace steadied near the 700 metres gelding commenced to overrace and had to be steadied away from heels.
BANDIDAS – Was inclined to lay in in the home straight.
