SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Stewards were advised by Trainer Mr W. Baker’s stable representative Ms Jessica Brand that Mr Baker would not be present at today’s meeting and that she would be in charge of his horses at todays meeting. Stewards will speak with Mr Baker at a later date in relation to his failure to provide a letter of authority placing Ms Brand in charge of his runners.
Race 1: MURRAWONDAH &COBAN POLL MERINO STUD QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1000M
BERTS LEGACY- Presented with Blinkers to the mounting yard, and raced in this gear under the assurance of Trainer Mr B. Waldron that the horse carries blinkers despite this not being reflected on the official gear sheet. Stewards advised Mr Waldron they would make further inquiries in relation to this matter with the Trainers Service Centre.
VALDA was a late scratching at 1.26 pm due to its failure to load into the barriers. Trainer Mr Pat Richardson was advised that VALDA will be required participate in a barrier trial before its next start.
The following deductions applied: - 1st- 0 cents the win- Place- 12c
2nd- 10c the place-
3rd-12cents the place.
JIMNA- Dipped at the start.
SEEKING LOUIE- Travelled wide from the 300m.
WAY OUT- Jumped out and made contact with another runner shortly after the start.
IM A CAPTAIN- Jumped in at the start and travelled wide over the final 200m of the race.
BERTS LEGACY- Was tightened for room between runners at the start.
BLINKIN HASTY shifted out and travelled wide during the early and middle stages of the event.
Stewards amended the starting times for races 2 through to 6 due to the deteriorating weather conditions. Race 6 was run at approximately 4.15 pm.
Race 2: WARREGO HOTEL MOTEL BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1000M
Apprentice Jockey J. King was permitted to ride ARNHEM LAND ½ kilogram overweight.
ARNHEM LAND was wide throughout.
LITTLE FOU shifted in and made contact with another runner soon after the start.
Jockey C. Bryen was reprimanded by Stewards for failing to weigh in for fifth placing.
Race 3: OIGLE COLEMAN & STEVE HIGGINS BM 70 HANDICAP 1000M
Apprentice Jockey J. King was overweight he was replaced by B Richardson at the rider of EDWARDSCISSORHANDS.
LA CLOISONNE- Veered out shortly after the start and travelled wide during the early stages of the event.
Stewards spoke to Apprentice Jockey Ms N. Morton and Trainer Mr J. Patterson’s representative Mr M Patterson in relation to the riding tactics on LA CLOISONNE. After hearing submissions from by both parties Stewards noted the explanation.
RUNNING WILD began awkwardly.
EDWARDSCISSORHANDS- Travelled wide from the 300m and hung out over the concluding stages.
Race 4: WARREGO HOTEL/MOTEL CLASS3 PLATE 1200M
WARCRUSHER- Began awkwardly and began to hang in under pressure approaching the 1000m. Jockey Ms R. Kerwin reported to Stewards that her mount stumbled at the 900m and lost some ground.
ROYAL REWARD- Jumped out soon after the start.
Apprentice Ms B. Richardson was reprimanded by Stewards for failing to weigh in for fifth placing.
Race 5: BURRENBILLA CUP HANDICAP 1400M.
Apprentice Jockey J. King was permitted to ride RED CENTURION 1/2kg overweight.
AQUATORIAL- Was slow to begin and failed to go the early speed drifting well back in the early stages. Shifted ground marginally when entering the turn into the straight. The gelding finished strongly over the concluding stages of the event.
Race 6: ANN DUFF MEMORIAL CLASS B HANDICAP 1400M
Apprentice Jockey J King was overweight he was permitted to ride GRACE AND WILF 1/2kg overweight as there were no other suitable riders available.
LOUPPY BEND- Knuckled over at the start and was tightened for room between runners soon after beginning.
KIRKHEATON- Jumped out soon after the start and made contact with another runner.
AINT GOING DOWN- Jumped in the air at the start.
CALL A TRUCE- Barrier failed to open with the remainder of the field and lost considerable ground. Raced wide over the final 400M of the event. After hearing submissions from Apprentice Jockey D. Evans and Ms Jessica Brand, acting on behalf of Trainer Mr W Baker, Stewards declared CALL A TRUCE a non-runner on the grounds of being denied a fair start. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on CALL A TRUCE be refunded with the following deductions to apply.
1st- 0 cents the win and 9cents the place
2nd- 7 cents the place
3rd- 9 cents the place.
HILDESHEIM- Jumped out at the start.
ETERNO-Stewards sought comment from Jockey/ Trainer D Rewald in relation to the improved performance. Mr Rewald stated the horse had been racing well at recent starts however without luck in its races. He added that the horse had been working well in preparation for today’s event. Stewards accepted Mr Rewalds explanation and noted his comments.
Stewards held an enquiry into the matter whereby, Apprentice J. King was overweight on four of his rides and subsequently unable to claim any of his allowance on those rides at today’s meeting. Trainer Mr T. Elmes was representing Apprentice Jockey King during the enquiry. After considering the evidence and all submissions Apprentice King was subsequently fined $300.
