WEATHER: O’CAST TRACK: GOOD RAIL: TRUE

RACE 1: At the start Zeal (R Goltz) jumped outwards coming into contact with Mayne La Tipsy (L Roberts) which then shifted out abruptly. Todouz (P Marion) jumped outwards and across the running of Hugh Imposter (K Sawyers) which had lost ground by jumping in the air as the gates opened. Pisani Bay (S Nolen) jumped outwards at the start. Zeal was inclined to lay out rounding the home turn. Hugh Imposter was reluctant to take a run between Pisani Bay and Elphin Bay (G Geran) over the concluding stages. When questioned why he retired his mount from the race after going 200 metres Jockey P Marion stated that he was of the opinion that his mount had broken down as the filly was very short in her action. A subsequent Veterinary inspection of Todquoz revealed that the filly was very shin sore. Trainer I Keys advised stewards that the filly would be sent for a spell. Time off 12.51 pm.

RACE 2: At the start Budgie Longhorn (C Kearney) was crowded between What Will Be (S Shield) which jumped outwards and Mighty Tsar (P Marion) which jumped inwards. Near the 200 metres Myendetta (S Nolen) which shifted out coming into minor contact with Loch’s Myth (K Mahoney), shifted back in shortly after. Time off 1.28 pm.

RACE 3: Natural Image (J Baker) jumped outwards and across the running of Sound Garden (R Kerwin) which was slowly away. Denial (A Lane) jumped outwards coming into contact with Curley’s Pride (C Kearney). Bidyadanga (G Baker) which jumped outwards hung out throughout, also dipped on the home turn. Sound Garden got her head up when being eased near the 5oo metres. Royal jewels (P Marion) which was slowly away got her head up for some distance leaving the 600 metes when being eased from Derail (K Banks). In the early stages of the home straight Denial was crowded for room when racing between Curley’s Pride and Bidyadanga which was taken outwards by Parton (J Pollard). Jockey S Shield (Bronze Phoenix) was reprimanded for failing to ride his mount right to the finish. S Shield was advised by Stewards that if his mount had not held on to win by a head he would have had a much more severe penalty imposed. Time off 2.02 pm.

RACE 4: Count Arrow (G Geran) which was slowly away was checked off the heels of Our little Star (S Shield) after passing the post. Misty’s Model (D Tarrant) jumped outwards at the start. Dellicose (A Lane) laid in over the concluding stages. Time off 2.38 pm.

RACE 5: Chrome Tip which sustained a minor laceration to a nostril in the tie up stalls was cleared to start after under going a Veterinary examination. Full Toddy (D Griffin) which was slowly away got her head up near the 900 metres when being eased from Always Opera (M Lister). Alolido (S Shield) was slowly away. Big Saddles (R Kerwin) which jumped outwards at the start shifted out near the 600 metres coming into contact with the hindquarters of Alolido. Veiling (G Lynch) got it’s head up when being eased near the 800 metres and 1000 metres. Navarra Jellybean (A Lane) and Samanarchie (S Nolen) both raced ungenerously leaving the 1000 metres. Trounce (R Goltz) which was held up for some distance approaching the home turn shifted out near the 350 metres crowding Randolph (G Baker) which raced ungenerously throughout. Always Opera shifted out under pressure near the 150 metres. Time off 3.16 pm.

RACE 6: Jockey T Dalton who was indisposed was replaced by P Wolfgram (Quick Return). St. Rautai (G Baker) and Turramurra (R Goltz) were slowly away. Stand To Attention (S Nolen) which hung out throughout shifted out over the concluding stages. Near the 150 metres Milton Magic (G Geran) shifted out coming into contact with Battle Tactics (R Kerwin). Time off 3.52 pm.

RACE 7: Credit Queen (S Shield) was slowly away. Shortly after the start I Was There (S Nolen) shifted in coming into contact with Credit Queen. Near the 100 metres I Was There and Mayne Le Sober (S Killen) made contact. Near the 200 metres A Lane (Lightly She Goes) dropped his whip and near side reign when accidentally struck across the hand by the whip of Jockey S Killen Time off 4.28 pm.

RACE 8: At the start Temping Touch (G Lynch) made heavy contact with Hypo (L Roberts) when taken outwards by New Leaf (C Maund) which jumped outwards.. Coal Blue Bay (R Kerwin) jumped outwards and across the running of Jag The Nick (J Baker) which was slowly away. After passing the winning post Irish Flash (P Wolfgram) was severely hampered by Coal Blue Bay which shifted out abruptly. Time Off 5.08 pm.

All winners were swabbed.

An inquiry was conducted into the Analyst’s findings of a urine sample provided by registered Stablehand Gary Lefoe after riding track work at Clifford Park racecourse on the morning of 15th February1999.

G Lefoe pleaded guilty to a breach of AR81 A (ii) the breach being that a urine sample supplied by him on 15th February 1999 which upon analysis was positive to the prohibited drug Cannabis.

G Lefoe was suspended from riding track work for a period of 12 months commencing on 18th February 1999, the day in which he was stood down from riding track work and to expire on 18th February 2000. In terms of LR 36 (h) Stewards suspended 6 months of this period on the condition that he does not breach the same rule within the period of suspension.
