29th April 1999: Stewards completed an inquiry that was adjourned from Toowoomba race meeting on 24th April. Jockey B Powell was subsequently reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in on the home turn when insufficiently clear of Piquet’s Revenge (P Wolfgram) resulting in Piquet’s Revenge having to be eased.

Jockey M Callaghan was fined the sum of $50 for failing to fulfil his engagement at the Dalby meeting on 22nd April 1999.

RACE 1: Sloop and Bay Of Time were slowly away. At the start Kellina Portrait (W Cook) jumped outwards coming into heavy contact with Kenny Kwok (A Erhart). Kellina Portrait continued to race very erratic in the early stages coming into contact with Sally’s Intent and Kenny Kwok on a number of occasions. Bay of Time was also hampered on a number of occasions. Trainer G Postle was advised that Kellina Portrait was required to Barrier Trial in Toowoomba prior to the gelding being permitted to start again. Approaching the 1000 metres Bay Of Time was eased from the heels of Kenny Kwok. Near the 1000 metres Samanarchie (S Katsidis) shifted Inwards coming into contact with Always Opera (D Tarrant). Shortly after Always Opera shifted out coming into contact with Samanarchie. Approaching the 800 metres Kenny Kwok was hampered between Sloop (M Paget) which shifted out and Gala Lady (P Spry) which was inclined to lay in when being eased from the heels of Samanarchie which was racing greenly. Samanarchie, which was racing between Sally’s Intent and Always Opera, raced in restricted room for some distance leaving the 600 metres. S Nolen was subsequently reprimanded and advised to give more room to the riders on his inside. There was a delay to correct weight being declared when the judges semaphored the incorrect numbers for 3rd and 4th. After consultation with the judge the placings were amended. Time off 1.35 pm.

RACE 2: Toss A Penny (S Shield) and Scarlet Horizon (M Babb) made contact on jumping. Near the 700 metres Mulkuddi (P Gesler) was eased from the heels of Loch’s Myth (A Erhart). Near the 100 metres Scarlet Horizon shifted in coming into contact with Kingdom Edge (P Spry). Dusty’s Shout (L Roberts) shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. Time Off 2.12 pm.

RACE 3: Go For Hearts (M Paget) which hit the parade gate was inspected by the Vet and cleared to start. RACE 6: Acenco (G Geran) dipped near the 500 metres. Passion For Polo (R Kerwin) hung out from the 600 metres. When questioned about the disappointing performance of Electrical Storm Jockey W Cook stated that the gelding felt lame returning to scale. A subsequent Veterinary inspection of the gelding revealed that he was lame in the near fore. Trainer D Burns was advised a Veterinary certificate was required for the gelding prior to his next start. Time off 4.40 pm
