DUPLICITY was slow to begin.

TILKE OF WALES, MACHI and FOXIE EM all jumped away awkwardly.

Approaching the 900m, LESTIAL shifted in causing MIFFIE MAE to be eased when tightened for room. P Wolfgram, the rider of LESTIAL, was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear.

Approaching the 450m, MIFFIE MAE, which raced greenly throughout, shifted in tightening the running of THE LOLLIPOP LADY, which resulted in that horse losing ground and also TILKE OF WALES, which was following, being hampered.

FOXIE EM raced wide throughout.

K Banks, the rider of THE LOLLIPOP LADY, when questioned regarding that filly’s disappointing performance, stated that the filly had travelled fairly until receiving a bump at the 450m and from that point had failed to run on. Trainer F Adams stated that he was extremely disappointed with the performance and could only offer the months break between runs, which was due to a minor illness, as a possible explanation for the poor showing. He further stated that it would be his intention to trial the horse prior to its next start and that he would inform stewards of any irregularities in the coming days. A post race vet examination of THE LOLLIPOP LADY failed to reveal any abnormalities.
