RACE 1: MAJOR METALS QUEENSLAND F&M MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
1st – Gather 2nd – Leighet 3rd – Ice Brigade 4th – Cribb Island
SONG BIRD was slow to begin.
XAAROON jumped away awkwardly.
Near the 300m, CRIBB ISLAND was eased from the heels of LEIGHTET after being inclined to hang in.
Near the 200m, SONG BIRD was momentarily held up for clear running on the heels of the tiring GLAMAVALE.
LEIGHET shifted out abruptly under pressure over the concluding stages.
RACE 2: BLACK TOYOTA C&G MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
1st – Vettorious 2nd – Chinois 3rd – Tune Up Tuesday 4th – Mr Sequalo
Connections of ALSHIN’S HOPE, which was difficult to load, were advised that a warning would be placed on that geldings barrier manners.
CHINOIS, VETTORIOUS and TUNE UP TUESDAY were all slow to begin.
CHEEKY REBEL and PRETKIN were both tightened for room and lost ground between SAINT I AINT and HYSPUR, which shifted out at the start.
CHINOIS was eased from the heels of YOKOMOTO TAMAOGAWA when the pace slackened near the 800m.
Near the 700m, VETTORIOUS was forced to ease from the heels of MR SEQUALO (C Pye), which shifted in. Apprentice C Pye was reprimanded for this incident.
Approaching the 400m, TUNE UP TUESDAY shifted in and away from KINJIROCK, which shifted in, causing LUCERNEDALE PRIDE to be tightened for room and make contact with the rail.
R Goltz, the rider of YOKOMOTO TAMAOGAWA, which hung out from the 600m until leaving the 200m, was reprimanded for allowing that gelding to shift out when leaving the 200m causing TUNE UP TUESDAY, which had improved to the outside to be eased.
Connections of CHINOIS, which hung out from the 800m until near the 300m, were advised that a warning would be placed on that geldings’ racing manners.
Connections of HYSPUR, which raced greenly with its head in the air throughout the event, advised stewards of their intention to take the blinkers of prior to next start.
RACE 3: WAGNERS CLASS B H’CAP (DIV 1) – 1000M
1st – Dancing Gailo 2nd – Urban Lass 3rd – Laurie’s Lad 4th – French Venture
STIPULATION reared as the start was affected losing ground.
TAMARSHAK was tightened for room and lost ground at the start between STIMULUS LADY and LAURIE’S LAD, which shifted out.
Near the 700m, LAURIE’S LAD and STIMULUS LADY were both tightened for room when DREAM’S COMING was inclined to hang in.
Leaving the 700m, STIPULATION was forced to steady off the heels of JAMPOR DREAMER.
JAMPOR DREAMER hung out from the 600m until leaving the 300m forcing STIPULATION wider on the track, as a result STIPULATION made the home turn wide.
Near the 50m, FRENCH VENTURE was forced to ease from the heels of LAURIE’S LAD, which shifted in.
J Murphy (FRENCH VENTURE) was fined the sum of $100 for failing to weigh in for fourth.
RACE 4: WAGNERS CLASS B H’CAP (DIV 2) – 1000M
1st – Conchenka 2nd – Picawile 3rd – Cuvee Kiss 4th – Mehi Belle
Apprentice T Chambers was reprimanded for being engaged on both TAMARSHAK and STIPULATION.
ROCK THE NIGHT and JAB ‘N’ MOVE were both slow to begin.
MOLTAR jumped away awkwardly.
ROCK THE CLOCK was inclined to race greenly and hang in during the early stage until the 600m when the gelding improved onto heels and was forced to ease, the gelding then commenced to hang out and made the home turn awkwardly.
LA MONETA made the home turn wide.
Near the 100m, ROCK THE NIGHT was hampered by the tiring LUELLA GRACE, which shifted in.
CONCHENKA shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages hampering PICAWILE.
RACE 5: OSTWALD BROS. QTIS CLASS 5 H’CAP – 1000M
1st – Lion Awake 2nd – Edibles 3rd – Strategin 4th – I Dared
STRATEGIN shifted out at the start making contact with DEDICATED.
Leaving the 700m, STRATEGIN was forced to ease and lost its position when racing between TUSCAN JAZZ and DEDICATED, which was placed in restricted room to the inside of LION AWAKE, which was tightened for room by I DARED, which shifted in. J Sharp (DEDICATED) and S Apthorpe (I DARED) were both advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Near the 400m, DEDICATED and LION AWAKE were both tightened between I DARED and TUSCAN JAZZ, which hung out rounding the home turn.
RACE 6: AACO 1824 FLYING H’CAP – 1100M
1st – Mi Cielo 2nd – Tropiqualo 3rd – Midnight Silence 4th – I’m a Leader
TROPIQUALO was slow to begin.
LEATHER was tightened for room shortly after the start between REGAL EVENT and MI CIELO, which shifted in.
TROPIQUALO was severely held up for clear running from approaching the 600m until leaving the 300m.
MYAGI raced wide throughout.
RACE 7: CARLTON MID STRENGTH OPEN H’CAP – 1400M
1st – Jyi’s Prospect 2nd – Paradise Dancer 3rd – Add It Up 4th – Big Kea
On return to scale a protest was lodged by R Kerwin, rider of the 4th placegetter, ADD IT UP, against BIG KEA being declared 3rd and PARADISE DANCER being declared 2nd, alleging interference over the concluding stages. Stewards dismissed the object against PARADISE DANCER as it was found that PARADISE DANCER had little if any bearing on the interference suffered by ADD IT UP. Steward up held the objection against BIG KEA as it was found that BIG KEA shifted in under pressure causing ADD IT UP to be buffeted between PARADISE DANCER and BIG KEA. In upholding the protest, stewards ruled that the ground lost was sufficient to reverse the Short Neck margin. W Cook (BIG KEA) was subsequently reprimanded for this incident.
GOLD RIMU jumped away awkwardly.
LAST HUMAM and ADD IT UP were both slow to begin.
Near the 900m, ADD IT UP was forced to ease from the heels of BIG KEA.
Near the 600m, BIG KEA shifted out hampering ADD IT UP.
Approaching the 500m, BIG KEA shifted out forcing SILVERTHORNE wider on the track.
PARADISE DANCER hung out rounding the home turn.
MILADY CLANG was held up during the early stages of the straight.
Approaching the 200m, LAST HUMAM, which was tiring, was forced to check from the heels of THORPE, which improved to the outside of COSSANTE, which was taken out by GOLD RIMU, which shifted out under pressure. Apprentice M Speers (GOLD RIMU) was severely reprimanded for this incident, in assessing penalty stewards took into account Apprentice Speers’ relative inexperience
KANES CROSSING raced wide throughout.
RACE 8: CARMICHAEL BUILDERS PTY LTD CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1400M
1st – Moonlight Lily 2nd – Orient Express 3rd – Veils Double 4th – Shower Upon
FLARE UP was slow to begin.
VEILS DOUBLE was tightened for room at the start between BOOFHEAD and DENOMINATION, which shifted out.
DENMARK LANE raced wide during the early stages.
VEIL DOUBLE was held up for clear running leaving the 600m.
BOOFHEAD and DANGEROUS CENT were both held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
BIG BAZZA raced very wide throughout.
