SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS

Toowoomba Stewards Offices

From Warwick 6-1-10

Jockey P Wolfgram today pleaded guilty to a charge under Ar137A(5)(a)ii in that as the rider of BLARE in the running of race 3 at Warwick he did use his whip in the forehand manner on 9 occasions prior to the 100m of the event. Jockey Wolfgram’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings commencing 10-2-10 and to expire midnight 19-2-10. Stewards ordered that this period of suspension be served concurrently with his suspension from Toowoomba (6-1-10) for a breach of the same rule. Stewards also imposed a fine of $300.

Stewards questions Jockey C Bumstead as to the reasons why she failed to fulfil her engagement at the Toowoomba race meeting on 6-1-10 as the rider of La Majeur. After considering the matter Stewards found that due to a misunderstanding jockey Bumstead was not confirmed as the mare’s rider and as such no action was taken.

As J Cook as injured and not riding at the meeting he was replaced as the rider of KISS THE KING by C Spry.

Near the 350m DIAMOND DEL (B Thomson) shifted out to obtain clear running resulting in XENA’S LAST ACT being forced wider on the track.

XENA’S LAST ACT (S Bogenhuber) which was slow to begin shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages of the event.

WILLSEEYOU (S Guymer) raced wide for the majority of the event.

RACE 2: DES BURNS MEMORIAL MAIDEN PLATE 1200M-
1ST-Ramani 2nd-Golden Ideal 3rd-Alerts 4th-Northbank

S Richardson replaced W Cook as the rider of EMELIANENKO.

EMELIANENKO (S Richardson) was declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 2:05pm after the gelding refused to load in the barriers. Upon the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies invested on EMELIANENKO be refunded with deductions of 9 cents the win and 10cents the place to apply. Stewards advised trainer T Dougall that EMELIANENKO would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to next racing.

LADY ARIAH (S Apthorpe) which was slow to begin was further hampered at the start by TYCOON MADAME (G Geran) which jumped in.

A TOUTE (S Bogenhuber) was hampered at the start by GOLDEN IDEAL (C Maund) which jumped out. A short distance later MONEY IN HAND (R Cox) shifted in making heavy contact with A TOUTE which lost ground.

TYCOON MADAME raced wide throughout.

RAJHUSSAR (C Spry) raced wide for the majority of the event.

RACE 3: DALBY ENGINE REBUILDERS QTIS 600 TWO YEAR OLD PLATE 1000M-
1ST-Dulacca Jet 2nd-Lambert 3rd-True Blue Angel 4th-Manahide

Trainer K Kemp was fined $50 for the late declaration of rider for IT’S THIRSTY WORK. G Geran was engaged to ride that gelding.

KESTHIN (N Evans), TESTA RENAYA (R Hinricks), TRUE BLUE ANGEL (C Maund), DULACCA JET (J Warrington) and WHISPRIAN (C Spry) were all severely tightened for room at the start between IT’S THRISTY WORK (G Geran) and SIEANNA ROYAL (S Apthorpe) which jumped out. As a result SIEANNA ROYAL and KESTHIN both lost ground.

Near the 400m, MARGANI (S Bogenhuber) became awkward of its own accord losing ground. A post race Veterinary Inspection of MARGANI failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Stewards questioned jockey C Maund and trainer L Fraser regarding the performance of TRUE BLUE ANGEL which performed below market expectations. Jockey Maund stated that filly received a heavy bump at the start which resulted in him being further back in the field then he anticipated. Jockey Maund further stated that he was always pressuring the filly throughout the run which he attributed the fast pace of the race today over 1000m compared to its most recent run over 1200m at Doomben. Mr Fraser stated that whilst he had freshened the filly since in previous run he was of the opinion that the filly failed to muster the necessary speed to be a winning chance today and further advised that they filly in his opinion would be better suited over 1200m. A post race Veterinary Inspection of TRUE BLUE ANGEL failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards advised Mr Fraser to inform the Stewards in the coming days if anything comes to light which may have affected the horse’s performance.

Stewards questioned Trainer K Kemp and Jockey G Geran regarding the disappointing performance of IT’S THRISTY WORK. Jockey Geran stated that the gelding never felt entirely comfortable throughout the race and in his opinion may have been shin sore. Mr Kemp stated that on face value the run was disappointing. Mr Kemp further advised Stewards that he may apply a tongue tie to the gelding for its next start. A post Race Veterinary Inspection of IT’S THIRSTY WORK failed to reveal any abnormalities. Mr Kemp undertook to advise Stewards in the coming days if anything comes to light which may have affected the gelding performance.

MINI MAIZING (S Guymer) was slow to begin.

BURMAK (D McWhinney), SILVER DANE (C Bumstead) and THE PLATE (R Cox) were all tightened for room at the start between TENNESSEE BLUE which jumped in and I DARED (J Warrington) which jumped out. As a result of this incident BURMAK lost ground.

Approaching the 800m, BURMAK improved to the inside of PICWORTH (S Apthorpe) where there was doubtful room resulting in MONTE PRIMO (C Kearney) and ALL STELLAR (A Smith) who were racing to the inside of BURMAK having to race in restricted room for a short distance.

Approaching the 450m, ALL STELLAR shifted out tightening the running of MONTE PRIMO which was forced to shift out taking BURMAK out and across the heels of PICWORTH. A Smith was reprimanded and advised to make greater effort to keep her mounts straight for future reference as a result of this incident.
