RACE 1: DALBY 100TH ANNIVERSARY DALBY PICNICS CLASS 1 H’CAP 1200M-
1st-Desert Lair 2nd-Le Max 3rd-Daads Order 4th-Raise The Bid

SOLFEGE (J Hoopert) which began awkwardly, was further hampered at the start by FINAGLE (R Ride) which jumped out.

Near the 900m, FINAGLE shifted in and away from RAISE THE BID (T Serjeant) and in doing so made contact with MORGAN MISS (N Tomizawa). A short distance later FINAGLE, shifted out resulting in DESERT LAIR (B Richardson) being inconvenienced when tightened for room.
RUNNING SOLO (D Robinson) and DAAD’S ORDER (J Brown) both raced wide throughout.

Near the 300m, SUHAILAH (N Yamada) and SKYIELD (A Smith) were both tightened for room between DAAD’S ORDER and LE MAX (I Coombes) which shifted out. Jockey Coombes was reprimanded as a result of this incident.
DESERT LAIR (B Richardson) shifted in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MORGAN MISS jockey N Tomizawa advised that the horse travelled well until a point near the 600m, where when placed under pressure it failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. Trainer P Kalinowski also expressed disappointment with the performance of MORGAN MISS which in her opinion may have attributed to the mare not handling the slow track. Stewards noted the explanation. Ms Kalinowski undertook to advise Stewards in the days subsequent to the meeting if anything comes to light which may have affected its performance.
App J Letherby advised that NOSHOWS felt short in its action over the concluding stages and as such did not fully test the mare in the run to the finish. A post-race Veterinary Inspection of NOSHOWS failed to reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 2: MARY’S COMMERCIAL HOTEL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200M-
1ST-Uno Joker 2nd-Billy Goat 3rd-Silver Flute 4th-General Baxter

FAST TRACK TO CASH (T Serjeant) and ZAFFINSKY (T Banks) made contact on jumping away. A short distance later both runners were tightened for room between UNO JOKER (K Yoshida) and SILVER FLUTE (A Fancourt) both of which shifted ground.

Near the 100m, EASY LAGER (S Bogenhuber) shifted in to obtain clear running and in doing so bumped ANCHOR BOLT (S Apthorpe).

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of KING OF THE KONGO jockey D Missen stated that after beginning fairly the gelding over raced during the early and middle stages. Jockey Missen added that when asked to improve from 600m the gelding failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. Jockey Missen added that in his opinion KING OF THE KONGO failed to handle the Slow 6 track conditions.

When questioned regarding the improved performance of KNEEL AND RAISE trainer T Dougall advised that the gelding was dropping considerably in class from its last two starts which included the Weetwood Handicap on 29-3-12. Mr Dougall further added that in today’s event KNEEL AND RAISE was able to dictate the race in front and was able to run slow sectionals during the middle stages of the event. Mr Dougall further added that the gelding had worked well in preparation for today’s event and expected a forward showing. Stewards noted the explanation.

RACE 5: SHELL LUBRICANT’S CLASS B H’CAP 1400M-

T Banks (CROWN NEWS) was reprimanded for striking his mount with the whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
