Race 1: T & J Whitehouse & CHRC Open Handicap- 1000 metres
1st –DUMUZI 2nd – REV THE CHEV 3rd – RAHULA 4th- TROPIC GEM
TROPIC GEM (T. O’Hara) and FAIR EXPECTATION (S. McGovern) were slow to begin.
NOAH’S SMILE (I. Coombes) began awkwardly and raced wide throughout.
Race 2: Redx Mechanical Montrose Class B Handicap- 1000 metres
1st –ROSE OF MAYHEM 2nd – SPANNA 3rd – RYTARGA 4th – SASCHA’S SPIRIT
RYTARGA (A. Coome) was slow into stride.
DANE VICTORY (L. Dillon), which was a little slow to begin, raced back in the field. Jockey Dillon reported the gelding had resented the dust and he shifted wider near the 800 metres and raced wide for the remainder of the event.
CEDARSTAR (J. Stephens) raced wide throughout.
Race 3: Jeff Reid Earthmoving QTIS Maiden Plate- 1000 metres
1st – VIV’S CHARM 2nd – COPY THIS 3rd – GUARANTEES 4th – BENJI BULLET
An announcement was made that VIV’S CHARM had placed 11th of 14, beaten 12.9lengths at Rockhampton on Friday 4th October, 2013 in Maiden Handicap of 1050m. A pre-race veterinary inspection cleared the filly to take its place in the field. Stewards permitted Trainer C Garland to add Blinkers to the gear of VIV’S CHARM, given its performance when Blinkers were removed.
COPY THIS (A. Coome) was slow to begin.
VIV’S CHARM (S. McGovern) raced wide throughout.
A post-race veterinary inspection of HAYYLER’S DEVIL did not reveal any significant abnormalities.
Race 4: S.T Olive & Sons Dingo Cup BM 65 Handicap- 1200 metres
1st – PEE JAY QUE 2nd – GUILIETTA 3rd – COCO LOCO 4th – SUITE ANNIE
GREYWIN (D. Evans) and GUILIETTA (T. O’Hara) were slow to begin.
LEGAL DANCER (L. Dillon) was slow into stride.
BIG BERT (D. Hayse) was inclined to lay in during the middle stages.
Race 5: Bandana Energy Class 4 Handicap- 900 metres
1st –NINEDAYFORNIGHT 2nd – OTANGO 3rd – RAZOR GANG 4th – FRAHA
Jockey A. Coome reported that OTANGO was unable to muster speed in the early stages and unable to make ground rounding the home turn, however sprinted quickly when balanced up in the straight.
