RACE 1: SANDGATE RSL MEMORIAL CLUB H'CAP - 2020M.

After being loaded, both GRAPPELLI and ADRENALIN became fractious in the barriers. This resulted in MATTRAY and CELTIC REVENGE breaking through the front gates. Both horses however were quickly restrained, inspected by the club's veterinary officer and passed fit to start. Trainers P. Duff and T. Miller were advised that warnings were being placed on GRAPELI and ADRENALIN.

As the start was effected, GRAPPELLI reared and lost ground.

CAPE CREOLE was slow to begin.

STOLEN DIAMONDS shifted out at the 500m., forcing NOVA SERRURE wider on the track.

NAVA SERRURE and STOLEN DIAMONDS continued to make contact at the entrance to the straight, which resulted in both horses becoming unbalanced. Soon afterwards, NOVA SERRURE shifted in, taking STOLEN DIAMONDS in on to HEART'S TREASURE, which had to be checked. Given the circumstances and also that BEEN THERE'S BEST had contributed to some degree by shifting out slightly, no action was taken, however S. Katsidis was reprimanded for failing to make a greater effort to keep his mount on a true course.

NOVA SERRURE shifted in and bumped MR. IVAN just prior to the winning post.

RACE 3: CITY AUCTION GROUP H'CAP - 1200M.

Trainer P.K. Homann was fined $25 for presenting BLOOD RUBY to race with incorrect gear.

MISS SACHA was inspected by the club's veterinary surgeon at the barriers and found to have blood in its mouth as a result of a dislodged tooth cap. MISS SACHA was passed fit to start.

LADENDA jumped away awkwardly, losing ground.
BLOOD RUBY commenced to hang out approaching the first turn, forcing STRANGE AURA wider on the track. BLOOD RUBY continued to hang out throughout the middle stages. Trainer P. Homann was advised that BLOOD RUBY would be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to its next race start.

A veterinary examination of STRANGE AURA, which performed disappointingly, failed to reveal an abnormality.

RACE 4: VITALCALL H'CAP - 1350M.

On the first turn, GARNIER lost ground when reluctant to hold a position inside BENJI STORM. DANAJIVA, which was following, had to be checked off the heels of GARNIER. This in turn caused some inconvenience to BRIGHTER SCENE.

R. Griffiths, rider of OUR BANKER, was severely reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in at the 300m., resulting in FOREVER MISSED having to be steadied away from the heels of that horse. A veterinary examination of FOREVER MISSED, which compounded badly following this incident, failed to reveal any abnormality.

Soon after entering the straight, BRIGHTER SCENE had to be checked off the heels of GARNIER when held up behind that horse. BRIGHTER SCENE was then held up for clear running for some distance. RED STORM RISING, which improved to the inside of BRIGHTER SCENE, also suffered some inconvenience.

A veterinary examination of HAGAR THE HORRIBLE revealed the gelding to have sustained a laceration to the outside of the near hind fetlock. A swab sample was taken from HAGAR THE HORRIBLE.

J. Byrne was examined by the club's doctor following this event and advised to forego his remaining engagements. G. Palmer was substituted as the rider of VITA MAN in race 7, and B. Compton as the rider of CITY MISSION in race 8.
