WEATHER - FINE TRACK - SLOW RAIL - TRUE POSITION
RACE 1: THE COURIER-MAIL SUPERFORM H'CAP - 1350M.
S. Katsidis, rider of GUY, accidentally dropped his whip near the 700m..
RACE 2: DES PARTRIDGE H'CAP - 1110M.
CHARMAE, which broke through the front gates prior to the start being effected, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
The club's veterinary surgeon also cleared ST. PLATO after that gelding became fractious in the barriers.
The start was delayed due to GOLDEN PEAK proving difficult to load.
Just prior to the winning post, OVERFOND had to be checked off the heels of ST. PLATO, which was taken in by BATON, which hung in under pressure over the concluding stages.
OVERFOND began awkwardly and made contact with MERRY DANCER.
RACE 3: THE COURIER MAIL SPORT H'CAP - 2020M.
No racing incidents.
RACE 4: BART SINCLAIR SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1350M.
ELITE AND POWER jumped awkwardly and made contact with SUGARS.
AULD HAT also began awkwardly.
BROWN DIRT COWBOY was slow to begin.
ERIC lost its off hind plate in running.
RACE 5: JOHN GREENE MEMORIAL BTC SPRINT - 1350M.
As B. Stewart was to be overweight, M. Paget was substituted as the rider of TYPHOON BARNEY. B. Stewart was fined the sum of $300.
Trainer B. J. McLachlan was fined $50 for failing to declare a rider for WEST EXPRESS by the prescribed time.
Following the event, the club's veterinary surgeon reported that BRIGHTER SCENE had suffered a bruise to the off shoulder.
RACE 6: EXPECT MORE H'CAP - 1350M.
CERES and MILLENNIAL were badly hampered on jumping away when crowded for room between MISKARIMA, which jumped outwards, and SEALINER, which was taken in by HILLBILLY EXPRESS.
RACE 7: THE COURIER MAIL CLASSIC SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES - 1350M.
Stewards interviewed the connections of ALPINE EXPRESS and STONY GROVE along with M. Paget and his manager, Mr C. Childs, in relation to M. Paget being dually engaged. Subsequently, stewards ruled that M. Paget ride STONY GOVE. K. Waller substituted on ALPINE EXPRESS. M. Paget was fined the sum of $100 for accepting 2 rides in this Group 3 event.
Trainer C. Conners was fined $50 for failing to present ALPINE EXPRESS on course by the prescribed time.
D. Walsh, rider of SPIRIT OF EQUUS, was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in soon after the start, resulting in FRENCH RAVEN and STONY GROVE being crowded.
After leaving the 1200m., AFLAC shifted in slightly, taking CENTRE FORCE in on to FRENCH RAVEN, which tightened the running of STONY GROVE and FRONT ROW. As a result of this tightening, both STONY GROVE and FRONT ROW lost their positions due to FRENCH RAVEN continuing to shift in and away from CENTRE FORCE. Stewards nonetheless reprimanded M. Carson, rider of AFLAC, for initially shifting in and causing the tightening.
SPIRIT OF EQUUS raced ungenerously approaching the first turn.
RACE 8: RUBY AND MYLES SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1615M.
BLESSED TYCOON was slow to begin.
Over the concluding stages, MISS CORTONA shifted out abruptly under pressure.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
