RACE 1: JUSTIN STANLEY H'CAP - 1350M.

As apprentice jockey J. Baker was to be overweight, and as no other apprentice rider was available, senior rider A. Pattillo was permitted to be substituted as the rider of WATAGAN LASS.


RACE 2: GLEN COLLESS H'CAP - 1350M.

JUST GUS got its head up and raced ungenerously in the early stages.

ENGLAND raced greenly and shifted in under pressure in the straight.


RACE 3:JOHN HAWKES H'CAP - 1350M.

ROCKEFELLER was withdrawn at 1.28 p.m. on the advice of the club's veterinary surgeon that the gelding was lame in the near foreleg. On the announcement of correct weight, all monies invested on ROCKEFELLER were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 17 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 15 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets, applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the withdrawal time.

YALLAH STINGER jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

Approaching the 1000m., RAINBOW RIBBONS had to be steadied off the heels of SWAPAN, which shifted in.


RACE 4: BTC QUEENSLAND AND HORSE OF THE YEAR H'CAP - 1640M.

J. Marshall, rider of the winner, MOUGI, was cautioned for allowing his mount to shift in under pressure approaching the winning post, resulting in MR. BRANNIGAN being inconvenienced.


RACE 5: ADRENALIN SPORTS BAR H'CAP - 2040M.

Trainer M. Campbell was fined $50 for failing to declare a rider for TARANTULA by the prescribed time.

THE WOODIES jumped inwards at the start, hampering SUN SCREEN.

Passing the 100m., COUNTERSHOT was inconvenienced by SUPERSTEAM, which hung in under extreme pressure over the final 200m..
A veterinary examination of THE WOODIES, which compounded badly from the 600m., revealed the gelding to be suffering from a wind infirmity. Trainer M. Lakey was advised that he must provide a veterinary clearance for THE WOODIES prior to its next race start, including the results of an endoscopic examination.

The club's veterinary surgeon reported SUPERSTEAM had been galloped on on the off hock.


RACE 6: THE COURIER-MAIL'S NEW 'LIFE' H'CAP - 1110M.

Trainers B. Brown and D. Graham were each fined the sum of $50 for late declaration of riders for SCORSESE and MARINER'S REACH respectively.

The start was delayed when BLUE PHARAOH proved difficulty to load. Trainer Mr M. Tremble, deputising for trainer Mr D. J. Hall, was advised that a warning was being placed on that gelding.

RIVER AFFAIR was slow to begin.

Soon after the start, KAMINKA shifted in, hampering BLUE PHARAOH.

HABITATIS had some difficulty obtaining clear running prior to the 200m..



RACE 7: BREAKFAST CREEK HOTEL SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1110M.

REPSHOT lost ground at the start after jumping away awkwardly and making contact with OH BLUE ANGEL.

When racing fiercely, WINNING BLIND shifted out at the 700m., inconveniencing BREAK AND ENTER, which also had a tendency to race very greenly.

When questioned regarding the performance of JEDI KNIGHT, M. Cahill stated that in adhering to instructions he was obliged to ride the colt vigorously to assume the lead, however the horse was at that stage not entirely comfortable in the going. He added that in the middle stages he allowed JEDI KNIGHT to shift to a position wider on the track and it travelled well for a short distance, however when placed under pressure prior to the home turn, the colt again appeared to lose its footing in the soft ground. A veterinary examination of JEDI KNIGHT failed to reveal any abnormality.


RACE 8: BRISBANE CLUB MANAGERS ASSOCIATION H'CAP - 1200M.

Trainer R. Heathcote was fined $25 for presenting REAL FORCE to the enclosure without a tongue tie.

N. Tomizawa was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in approaching the 800m. when not clear of ZUKA, resulting in ZUKA being taken in on to AGGRAVATION, which in turn tightened REGAL CLASS.

ON VENTURA HIWAY ran up onto the heels of REGAL CLASS at the 700m. and had to be checked.

Approaching the finish line, REGAL CLASS had to be steadied after receiving contact from KENCONCARNE, which shifted in under pressure. S. Katsidis, rider of KENCONCARNE, was reprimanded and advised to make more effort to keep his mounts on true course.

A veterinary examination of REAL FORCE revealed the mare to be sore in the off foreleg.





ALL WINNERS AND REGAL CLASS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
