WEATHER – FINE TRACK - DEAD RAIL - OUT 2M ALL TRACK
GOOD (After Race 2)
RACE 1: ANSETT AUSTRALIA/AIR NEW ZEALAND H'CAP - 1200M
JOGGERAMA jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
Approaching the first turn JOGGERAMA and I CAN'T BELIEVE IT made contact on a number of occasions when racing in restricted room between MR. NEWSAGENCY and DUEL WITH ME which shifted in.
Passing the 800m I CAN'T BELIEVE IT had to be restrained to avoid the heels of DUEL WITH ME which shifted in.
RACE 2: ANSETT AUSTRALIA GOLDEN WING STARLET SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1010M
R McLeod substituted for A Morrison who was overweight. No penalty was issued against A Morrison, however he was directed that in future he was not to accept rides on horses weighted below 52½ kg unless he received special permission from the stewards.
GEE EYE JANE jumped outwards at the start, inconveniencing GROOVY MISS and LA FLICKA.
SOUTHEAST SHEILA and MISS DANCER both jumped away awkwardly.
COTTON BRAE bucked shortly after the start, dislodging G O'Sullivan. The Club's veterinary surgeon reported that COTTON BRAE sustained several lacerations to both hind legs and near foreleg. G O'Sullivan was examined by the Club's medical officer who advised that he had sustained an injury to his right hand and would be stood down from his commitment at the Gold Coast Turf Club later in the day. Trainer P Hulbert was advised that COTTON BRAE must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial before being permitted to start.
The track was upgraded to GOOD after the running of Race 2.
RACE 3: ANSETT AUSTRALIA GLOBAL REWARDS H'CAP - 1350M
Trainer R Heathcote was fined $50 for nominating FOSCAT for this event when ineligible.
Passing the 1000m MERRY DANCER had to be steadied off the heels of GRANLASSUE, which shifted in. S Galloway, the rider of GRANLASSUE, was cautioned and reminded of his responsibility to provide at least two lengths clearance when shifting ground.
RACE 4: ANSETT AUSTRALIA E-CHECK-IN H'CAP - 1350M
NO INCIDENTS
RACE 5: ANSETT INTERNATIONAL H'CAP - 1200M
MISTER CHAUVEL and DONLANI bumped heavily at the start which resulted in DONLANI becoming unbalanced.
At the 500m CHAMPAGNE JACK had to be restrained off the heels of TURF TIGER which lost ground after being brushed by SUDDEN TREASURE which shifted out.
At the 400m PUKEKO shifted out, causing TURF TIGER to be hampered. CHAMPAGNE JACK, which was racing to the heels of TURF TIGER, had to be checked at that stage. A Erhart, the rider of PUKEKO, was cautioned and urged to exercise more care when shifting ground.
RACE 6: ANSETT AUSTRALIA APPRENTICES' PLATE - 1350M
ROADINSKY jumped away awkwardly and shifted out tightening HICKEY PARK.
At the 1100m UNCANNY ran up on to the heels of BEST ASCENT and had to be checked.
EMINENT CHEVAL raced ungenerously in the early stages when restrained by its rider.
RACE 7: ANSETT AUSTRALIA LORD MAYOR'S CUP - 2020M
MASTER RAIDER, which was very slow to begin, will be required to pass a further barrier test prior to its next race start.
A Pattillo, the rider of FORGOTTEN HERO, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that he permitted his mount to shift in at the 1900m when not clear of MR. SMUGG, resulting in MR. SMUGG being tightened on to PEDRO'S GALLANTE which had to be checked. A Pattillo was suspended for a period of 8 meetings to commence at midnight on Wednesday, 8 November, and expire at midnight on Sunday, 19 November.
RACE 8: STAR ALLIANCE H'CAP - 1615M
After being fractious in the barriers SERGRIS was slow to begin.
EASTERN COURT also began awkwardly.
At the 1500m SERGRIS ran up on to the heels of STRONGARM and had to be checked. CREATIONS also had to be checked at the same stage. SERGRIS continued to race fiercely for some distance and had to be checked on a number of occasions.
STRONGARM also commenced to overrace after leaving the 1000m and ran up into a position between GLINT OF HEART and TITTLE TAT where there was insufficient room. This resulted in STRONGARM having to be checked.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
