For some distance approaching the 100m., RACER'S SUCCESS was held up at the heels of SEND A SUB, which had a tendency to shift out under pressure. Nearing the 100m., C. Reith, rider of RACER'S SUCCESS, was obliged to alter course back to the inside of SEND A SUB to obtain clear running.

RACE 2: OUTRIGGER HOTELS & RESORTS QTIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1200M.

As M. Gray was to be overweight, D. Tanti was substituted as the rider of PLATINIUM HUSSY. M. Gray was fined $100.

LA QUALITY was very slow to begin.

RED MILE was also slow to begin.

Near the 750m., when racing greenly, PLATINUM HUSSY shifted out on to the heels of CAMBOOYA and as a consequence lost ground abruptly. PLATINUM HUSSY continued to race greenly and compounded badly in the straight. A veterinary examination of PLATINUM HUSSY subsequent to the event revealed the filly to be slightly shin sore in both forelegs.

At the 600m., FLYING ALICE had to be checked off the heels of HIALEAH STAR, which was prevented from shifting out behind YO KIDOKI by WATERFORD ROYALE, which raced tight to its outside. STAR CLANG, which was following, had to be steadied, which in turn caused hampering to LA QUALITY.

LUST FOR VICTORY lost its near hind plate in running.

RACE 3: HOTEL GEORGE WILLIAMS QTIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1615M.

SHE'S ALL GOLD jumped outwards at the start and made contact with DYNAMIC FLAME.

RACE 4: SURF REGENCY H'CAP - 2100M.

Due to the slow pace, FUJI BELLE had to be restrained off the heels of TOP PLUME at the 1400m.. Upon return to the enclosure it was noted that TOP PLUME had sustained abrasions to the off hind leg.

For a short distance approaching the 200m., NEW CHAPTER was held up behind WALMAC.

Trainer H. Wilson reported that SUPER BELLE got its tongue over the bit during the event.

Trainer R. Heathcote reported that after FREESPINS had been returned to his stable, the horse was sore across the chest. Mr Heathcote further advised that FREESPINS would be sent for an immediate spell.

Following the event, the track rating was upgraded to good.

RACE 5: HOTEL LAGUNA H'CAP - 1350M.

MAS FINA, which was kicked on the near stifle whilst parading behind the barriers, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

Upon jumping, GO SANDY was buffetted between OPAL RAINBOW and GALACTIC GIRL.

G. Lynch, rider of PENNY LONG LASHES, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, the careless riding being that he allowed his mount to shift in approaching the 1100m. when not clear of BOLD MOLLY, resulting in BOLD MOLLY being taken in on to OPAL RAINBOW, which in turn was severely tightened on to SPRUCED UP, which in turn tightened COOCHEN JENNY WREN on to the running rail. As a consequence, COOCHEN JENNY WREN had to be severely checked and lost considerable ground.G. Lynch was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 12 meetings, to commence at midnight, 9 March 2003 and to expire at midnight, 26 March 2003.

Soon after straightening, GALACTIC GIRL was disappointed for a run between WICKED WOMAN and VOWORANA. When GALACTIC GIRL shifted back to the inside of the heels of WICKED WOMAN to obtain clear running, GO SANDY suffered some inconvenience.

VOWORANA was inclined to lay out under pressure in the straight.

RACE 6: MARK . . . THE LISA LAWSON H'CAP - 1110M.

Passing the 500m., ILLUMINAR shifted in, momentarily cramping PRINCE CLANG for racing room.

When held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight, VIVID MISS had to be checked off the heels of HERMIT when that horse commenced to weaken.

CAPICE was unable to obtain clear running from the entrance to the straight until after passing the 100m..

NETAZI was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.

When taking a narrow run between ILLUMINAR and PRINCE CLANG at the 200m, NETAZI was accidentally struck across the nose by the whip of M. Rodd, rider of PRINCE CLANG.

RACE 7: SUNLOVER CRUISES H'CAP - 1350M.

Soon after the start, REGAL TYCOON attempted to buck and lost ground.

After travelling a short distance, CHENAR was inclined to lay in, resulting in THONG AND PUSHBIKE being tightened on to FOREST JIM, which was hampered.

For a short distance inside the 100m., REGAL TYCOON was impeded when taking a narrow run inside VAIN HALO.

When questioned regarding the tactics adopted today on CHENAR, trainer R. Heathcote indicated that he had instructed C. Reith to go forward on CHENAR in today's event depending on the manner in which the mare jumped away. C. Reith advised that at its most recent start at Eagle Farm on 1 March, the mare fired up and pulled hard in the lead when driven from the barriers. He indicated that whilst he was again instructed to race prominently in today's race, he did not ride the mare from the barriers with any aggression as he was concerned the mare may have again overraced. He further added that today CHENAR did not show any natural speed, and that on each occasion that he attempted to shift in and obtain a position closer to the fence, runners to the inside kicked up, which forced him to ease back even further to avoid being caught wide. He concluded by saying that as a consequence, CHENAR settled much further back in the field than was intended. Trainer R. Heathcote advised that CHENAR, which also suffered a cut to its mouth, would be sent for a spell in light of today's performance.

RACE 8: WHALESONG CRUISES H'CAP - 1200M.

Trainer S.Jones was fined $50 for failing to declare a rider for ON THE LIST by the prescribed time.

Trainer J. McCarter was also fined $50 failing to declare a rider for DANEWIN BEAUTY by the prescribed time.

CANADIAN COURTING, DANEWIN BEAUTY and GUILTY JOKER were all obliged to race wide during the event.

K. Mahoney reported that the saddle on DARK DESIRE slipped in the middle stages, which placed him at some disadvantage.

Leaving the 300m., ICE PATROL, which was angling for a run to the outside of THE WRECK, had to be steadied when THE WRECK shifted out to improve.

TYPIFY was momentarily held up for clear running inside the 200m..

SADDLE BOY was untested over the final 100m.. Stewards will interview its rider D. Craven regarding this matter.

When questioned, J. Powell stated that ON THE LIST was inclined to hang in during the event when racing prominently. He also added that the horse, which proved most disappointing, did not appear to stretch out fully. A veterinary examination of ON THE LIST subsequent to the event revealed the gelding to be mildly distressed.

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
