WEATHER - FINE TRACK - HEAVY/SLOW AFTER RACE 1, DEAD AFTER RACE 6
RAIL - 4.5M. ALL TRACK
RACE 1: JOBWIRE H'CAP - 1350M.
Near the 500m., THE TREE had to be checked to avoid the heels of the tiring SUPER SUDDEN.
Approaching the home turn, LEICA WINNER was inclined to hang out.
Following this event, the track rating was upgraded to slow.
RACE 2: SITA RECYCLING H'CAP - 2040M.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, PEDRO'S POWER was tightened for room by CONFLICTING, which was taken in slightly by AGITATOR. WINNING FRIENDS, which was following, had to be checked off the heels of PEDRO'S POWER in this incident.
Near the crossing at the 1600m., SCOOTERS had to be checked when tightened for room by PEDRO'S POWER, which was taken in by CONFLICTING. Whilst stewards accepted that Y. Yamazaki, rider of CONFLICTING, had initially been placed in that position, he was nonetheless severely reprimanded for failing to relieve the tightening to the 2 riders to his inside.
After passing the 800m., CAPITALIZE shifted out to improve, forcing WINNING FRIENDS wider on the track. In this incident, S. Seamer steadied WINNING FRIENDS in order not to be forced further wider on the track.
J. Powell was questioned as to the tactics he adopted on KOHNRAY STAR, in particular after leaving the 700m.. J. Powell explained at that stage of the event he elected to come one off to allow himself room to move to the outside of the heels of THE GREY TIGER, and when attempting to shift out near the 600m. he was unable to do so due to CAPITALIZE moving quickly to his outside and forcing him in behind that runner. As a result, KOHNRAY STAR raced in restricted room from that point until approaching the home turn due to PEDRO'S POWER shifting out from the inside.
RACE 3: EAGERS HOLDEN NEWSTEAD H'CAP - 1630.
No incidents.
RACE 4: MCCULLOUGH REBERTSON LAWYERS H'CAP - 1020M.
A. Best, rider of SEQUALITY, accidentally dropped his whip approaching the 200m..
After leaving the 200m., IN THE JUNGLE shifted out to improve and made contact with DEFEND.
Over the concluding stages, SEQUALITY shifted out under pressure, resulting in IN THE JUNGLE being further hampered when taken out on to DEFEND.
RACE 5: VISY RECYCLING H'CAP - 1020M.
STRICTLY SMART reared as the gates opened and lost ground.
Jockey C. Whiteley reported that SUNDIAL dipped on several occasions in the straight and as a result he eased SUNDIAL out of the event. Trainer S. Jones indicated he would advise the owner to retire the gelding. A veterinary examination of SUNDIAL revealed the gelding to be short in its action in front. A swab sample was taken from SUNDIAL.
RACE 6: SANTAL QTIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1350M.
Shortly after the start, MILADY MATTY shifted in and made contact with EXPRESS BALL. MILADY MATTY continued to shift in, which resulted in EXPRESS BALL being taken in on to LION ERROR, which had to be steadied after leaving the 1200m.. A. Best, rider of MILADY MATTY, was cautioned and advised to allow sufficient room for runners to his inside.
Over the concluding stages, POWER AND GOLD shifted out under pressure, slightly inconveniencing SCOTCH ROCKS.
A veterinary examination of EXPRESS BALL following the event revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg, and had sustained lacerations to the off hind coronet.
Following the event, the track rating was amended to dead.
RACE 7: SITA ENVIRONMENTAL SOLUTIONS H'CAP - 1350M.
CONSULAR and SCENIC WELLS were slow to begin.
KEEP THE ACE pulled hard in the early stages and then was obliged to race wide for the remainder of the event.
RACE 8: BEAUREPAIRES H'CAP - 1350M.
AFLAC was held up for clear running from the entrance to the straight until after passing the 200m..
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
