Race 1: Play On Promotions F & M Maiden H'cap - 1110m.
1st - Chickchat 2nd - Chelseann 3rd - Michigan Avenue 4th - Arid Miss
MICHIGAN AVENUE jumped inwards at the start, making contact with EYES A COMIN.
LIBRE PISTE and ORANGE MARMALADE brushed on jumping away.
STEORRA raced ungenerously in the early stages and was then forced to race wide for the remainder of the event.
Approaching the first turn, LIBRE PISTE was inclined to overrace and had to be steadied off the heels of DUPLICITY.
Nearing the 200m., when attempting to take a narrow run between DUPLICITY and HABITUE, LIBRE PISTE, had to be steadied when HABITUE was taken out slightly by CHELSEANN, which shifted out to improve. In this incident, LIBRE PISTE shifted out and made contact with the hind quarters of DUPLICITY.
GOOD ASSOCIATION was inclined to lay out over the concluding stages.
EYES A COMIN and FIRST INTAKE were forced to race 3 wide throughout.
J. Powell pleaded guilty under AR145, in that he weighed in in excess of half a kilogram overweight on ORANGE MARMALADE. J. Powell was fined the sum of $50.
Race 2: Serco Sodexho Defence Services C & G Maiden H'cap - 1110m.
1st - Little Rautai 2nd - Calculated Guess 3rd - Defend The Hill 4th - Regal Event
GUN CARRIAGE and A SECRET KEPT bumped on jumping away.
DEFEND THE HILL was inclined to overrace in the early stages.
Near the 500m., OLYMPIC SUNRISE had to be steadied when placed in restricted room between DEFEND THE HILL and REGAL EVENT, both of which shifted ground slightly.
GUN CARRIAGE was inclined to lay out rounding the home turn.
Approaching the 150m., after being struck with the whip, LITTLE RAUTAI became unbalanced.
Race 3: Call care Oz 3yo Class 1 H'cap - 1030m.
1st - Gumnuts 2nd - Next Time 3rd - Chasin' Tail 4th - Chamber Of Secrets
CHASIN' TAIL jumped outwards at the start, making contact with GUMNUTS, which in turn shifted out and made contact with MISS HAVERSHAM.
After passing the 800m. when the pace eased, CHAMBER OF SECRETS had to be steadied off the heels of FLEETING ECHO.
NEXT SIZE UP was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
After passing the 200m., CHAMBER OF SECRETS was impeded for a run to the inside of FANCY FLIRT, which shifted in when weakening.
GUMNUTS raced 3 wide throughout the event.
Race 4: Golden Circle Class 3 H'cap - 1030m.
1st - Kid Charlemagne 2nd - Crown Regatta 3rd - King Coles 4th - Little Missie
Passing the 600m., THRONG shifted out and had to be steadied off the heels of KING COLES.
Approaching the 600m., ALECO ran up on to the heels of KING COLES and had to be steadied and shifted out abruptly.
When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of NICEOSS, S. Katsidis stated that the gelding travelled well in the early and middle stages but when placed under pressure the gelding failed to respond to his riding. Trainer R. Kirwan was at a loss to explain the gelding's performance, adding that NICEOSS had trialled well in Toowoomba prior to today's event, and the only excuse he could offer was that the NICEOSS had lost its off for plate in running. R. Kirwan undertook to inform stewards of anything that may come to his notice in the following days that may have had an effect on the horse's performance. A post-race veterinary examination of NICEOSS failed to reveal any abnormality, other than NICEOSS had lost its off fore plate in running.
Race 5: Golden Cockerel Class 2 H'cap - 1640m.
1st - Star Strike 2nd - Call Me Victor 3rd - Regal Corinto 4th - Calm Action
STAR STRIKE was tightened for room on jumping away between DANERIN and UMALORD, which was taken in by ROLL YOUR OWN, which jumped away awkwardly.
MR KISEKI raced 3 wide in the early stages.
Near the 500m., REGAL CORINTO became unbalanced was placed in restricted room to the inside of UMALORD, which was laying in.
REGAL CORINTO were held up for clear running approaching the 400m..
Approaching the 200m., MR KISEKI, which was weakening, shifted out and made contact with UMALORD and became unbalanced.
UMALORD was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight.
Jockey B. Stewart reported that UMALORD was inclined to lay in throughout the event.
When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of STAR STRIKE, trainer J. Livingstone stated that the gelding had worked well leading up to today's event, and in his opinion was suited by the 1640m.. He further added that STAR STRIKE performs best when racing to the outside of other runners, which was the case today. The comments were noted.
Race 6: Thyssenkrupp Elevators Class 5 H'cap - 1350m.
1st - Superstar Leo 2nd - Stonecrusher 3rd - Volkman 4th - Monte Cavallo
JUSTATRICE was tightened for room on jumping away between NIP OF SPIRIT and THESPIAN PRINCE., which was taken out by THUNDER HAWK.
Approaching the 800m., LE CHASSEUR commenced to overrace and shifted out, taking SUPERSTAR LEO wider on the track, and nearing the 600m., LE CHASSEUR had to be steadied to avoid the heels of STONECRUSHER after being taken back in by SUPERSTAR LEO. S. Katsidis was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
MONTE CAVALLO and NIP OF SPIRIT brushed near the 200m.
Race 7: IPG Print Class 3 H'cap - 2040m.
1st - Star Clang 2nd - Makin Love 3rd - Endowment 4th - Look Here Tay
As T. Triechel failed to arrive on course to fulfil his engagement, C. Eaton was substituted as the rider of KAZAKH STAN.
ENDOWMENT was slow to begin.
INITIAL STAR and MAKIN LOVE came together on jumping away.
After passing the winning post on the first occasion, BRITISH STORM, which was inclined to lay out, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of INITIAL STAR.
When the pace steadied approaching the 1200m., FASCINATIONS had to be steadied off the heels of BRITISH STORM and shifted out, forcing LUNALANA wider on the track.
MARIGOLD was inclined to race wide in the early and middle stages.
Near the 600m., FASCINATIONS shifted in and made contact with BRITISH STORM, which became unbalanced.
A veterinary examination of STAR CLANG revealed the gelding had sustained a laceration to the outside of the off fore cannon.
Race 8: Pine Rivers Memorial Bowls Club 1 H'cap - 1350m.

Trainer B. Miller was fined $50 for presenting ANGEL EYE to the enclosure without blinkers.
SAN DEL AQUILA, which reared over in the barriers, was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 4.45 p.m.. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on SAN DEL AWUILA were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 19 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 16 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets, applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the withdrawal time. Trainer B. Baldwin was advised he must provide a further barrier test certificate for the colt prior to its next race start.
PRANG jumped away awkwardly.
Near the 1100m., DOONESBURY improved up on to the heels of ELYSIAN FIELD and had to be steadied.
LADY OF COURAGE was inclined to lay out rounding the home turn and shortly after entering the straight had to be steadied off the heels of SUMMER OF LOVE.
After passing the 300m., DOONESBURY had to be steadied when disappointed for a run between PRANG and ELYSIAN FIELD, which shifted out slightly.
PRANG and THE POSTMASTER were forced to race wide throughout.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ELYSIAN FIELD, S. Katsidis stated that the horse was off the bit near the 1200m. and, in his opinion, was under pressure shortly after passing the 1000m.. Trainer K. Schweida stated that the horse was stepping up in distance today and had to work harder than anticipated in the early stages after drawing wide. He was unable to offer any other explanation and undertook to inform stewards of anything that may come to his notice in the following days that may have had an effect on the horse's performance. A veterinary examination of ELYSIAN FIELD failed to reveal any abnormality.
