Race 1: Woolworths Fresh Future NMW H'cap - 1350m.
1st - Umatrick 2nd - Amaizing Style 3rd - Aleco 4th - In Under There

Apprentice B. Dieckmann notified stewards he was ill, and as there was no apprentice available to ride AMAIZING STYLE, stewards acceded to a request to allow jockey B. Stewart to ride the horse. K. Cunningham replaced B. Dieckmann as the rider of MIGHTY ICON in race 8.

Y. Yamazaki was notified as the rider of NIP OF SPIRIT after declaration time, however following an explanation, no action was taken.

NIP OF SPIRIT (Y. Yamazaki) and IN UNDER THERE (A. Pattillo) brushed on jumping away and after travelling a short distance were tightened between THORPE (C. Spry) and TYCOON ROSE, which was taken in by ALTAO (M. Pelling), which was inclined to hang in shortly after the start.

UDDER BRILLIANCE (J. Byrne) was slow to begin.

UDDER BRILLIANCE commenced to overrace leaving the 1200m., and continued to overrace for some distance until after rounding the first turn.

THORPE was caught 3 wide rounding the first turn.

THORPE cast a hind plate near the 600m..


Race 2: Nestle QTIS 2yo H'cap - 1350m.
1st - Mr Barlow 2nd - Prince Of Yodells 3rd - Miss Innocence 4th - Boodini

As N. Jolly was to be overweight, S. Galloway was substituted as the rider of PRINCE OF YODELLS and S. Katsidis as the rider of AEROSOL in race 6. N. Jolly was fined the sum of $200.

WHYDINYA (K. Pope) was tightened for room at the start between MR BARLOW (J. Byrne) and EL ABANICO (S. Seamer), which was taken in by KARMA KING (M. Pelling), which jumped away awkwardly.

Shortly after jumping away, WHYDINYA (K. Pope) and EL ABANICO were tightened between MR BARLOW and KARMA KING, which shifted in.

A short distance later after being tightened at the start, WHYDINYA blundered when it accidentally clipped the heels of MR BARLOW.

EL ABANICO commenced to hang out approaching the 1000m. and the horse continued to hang out for the remainder of the race.

Leaving the 1000m. as the pace steadied, SPEED BUMP (B. Stewart) had to be eased off the heels of MR BARLOW.

Approaching the 600m., SPEED BUMP again improved on to the heels of MR BARLOW and had to be steadied and shifted in, cramping BOODINI (A. Pattillo).

SPEED BUMP shifted out to improve rounding the home turn, taking MISS INNOCENCE (S. Katsidis) wider on the track.

Near the 300m., EL ABANICO (S. Seamer), which had been inclined to hang out, shifted ground, taking MR BARLOW out on to SPEED BUMP, which had to be steadied. In this incident, MISS INNOCENCE was inconvenienced and made contact with SPEED BUMP.

Passing the 100m., KARMA KING was held up for clear running.

Approaching the 50m., MISTER MUSTANG (E. Dredge) shifted out under pressure and made contact with SILVER DANE (A. Best). E. Dredge was cautioned and advised to take greater measures to keep her mounts straight.


Race 3: Clover Hill QTIS Class 6 3yo H'cap - 1200m.
1st - Star Of Canada 2nd - Moonbi Nymph 3rd - Bunsen Honeydew 4th - Anabasca

ANABASCA was presented to race with blinkers. Trainer M. Nolan was reprimanded for presenting the horse with incorrect gear.

ANABASCA (M. Pelling) jumped outwards at the start and made heavy contact with SHE NAGS (J. Powell).

CAFFE FRANCAIS (Y. Yamazaki) jumped inwards at the start and had to be steadied off the heels of PICAFIGHT ((A. Pattillo))

Near the 200m., CAFFE FRANCAIS was inclined to lay in away from ANABASCA and made contact with SHE NAGS.

On return to scale, BUNSEN HONEYDEW had blood in its mouth and a veterinary examination revealed this was as a result of dislodging an incisor tooth cap.


Race 4: Inghams 2mw Last Year H'cap - 2020m.
1st - Concitare 2nd - Maizcay Magic 3rd - Bails 4th - Pistol Knight

CONCITARE (S. Seamer) and BAAL YABBA (J. Taylor) came together on jumping away.

When tiring leaving the 600m., THE KILDARE KID was tightened for room between MAIZCAY MAGIC (S. Katsidis) and SKI THE TIDE (A. Best), which shifted out to improve.

Passing the 200m., CONCITARE brushed BAAL YABBA when attempting to take a run in restricted room between PISTOL KNIGHT (J. Byrne) and BAAL YABBA.

THE KILDARE KID commenced to race under pressure leaving the 800m. and compounded over the concluding stages. A veterinary examination of THE KILDARE KID revealed the gelding to be exhibiting abnormal respiratory sounds. Trainer R. Heachcote advised stewards he would consider recommending to the owners that the horse be retired.


Race 5: Parmalat 1mw Last Year H'cap - 1010m.
1st - Winsome Dancer 2nd - Mot D'or 3rd - Steel Cap 4th - Seahawk Lass

NEGATE was declared a late scratching at 2.49 p.m. acting on veterinary advice when the horse was found to be lame in both front feet. Following the late withdrawal, all monies invested on NEGATE were ordered to be refunded in full, and deductions of 5 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 6 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets applied.

MOT D'OR (K. Pope) and SEAHAWK LASS (A. Best) both jumped away awkwardly and made heavy contact, resulting in both horses losing ground.

MELREBEM LAD (J. Stanley) jumped awkwardly.

Near the 800m., SLICK OPERATOR (K. Cunningham) had to be eased to avoid the heels of STEEL CAP (M. Rice), which shifted in.

Approaching the home turn, WINSOME DANCER (G. McKeon) shifted slightly away from the rails and brushed the hind quarters of SIR SUCCESS (S. Seamer).

On straightening, SIR SUCCESS attempted to force a run between MOT D'OR and the tiring VARGNA (S. Galloway), however when disappointed and unable to obtain the run, had to be checked and lost momentum when shifting around the heels of MOT D'OR to obtain clear running.


Race 6: Coca-Cola Class 6 H'cap - 1615m. .
1st - Hissy Fit 2nd - Prosecution 3rd - Aerosol 4th - Lindholme

As D. Craven was ill, M. Dorrington was substituted as the rider of MONTESANTOS SPIRIT.
A veterinary examination of MONTESANTOS SPIRIT behind the barriers cleared the horse to race.

FIL THE BILL (J. Powell) jumped outwards at the start and made contact with MONTESANTOS SPIRIT (M. Dorrington).

After travelling a short distance, LINDHOLME (M. Pelling) shifted out, taking FIL THE BILL out on to MONTESANTOS SPIRIT.

Near the 1100m., FIL THE BILL had to be checked and lost its position when racing inside of LINDHOLME and HISSY FIT (S. Galloway). At a subsequent inquiry, S. Galloway, rider of HISSY FIT, was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in, resulting in LINDHOLME shifting in and away and moving to the rails when not clear of FIL THE BILL.

GENERAL SAM (S. Seamer) had to be steadied near the 100m. when cramped for room by DEAD CAT BOUNCE, which shifted in away from AEROSOL (S. Katsidis)

Race 7: QRSE Moraitis Fresh Produce H'cap - 1350m.
1st - Sir Dan 2nd - Western Brace 3rd - Power Unit 4th - Diurnal

DIFFICULT (J. Taylor) and REGAL PUNCH (J. Byrne) made contact on jumping away.

DEVIL (B. Poulus) blundered on jumping away.

After travelling a short distance, WESTERN BRACE (G. McKeon) was inclined to lay in, cramping REGAL PUNCH and DIFFICULT (J. Taylor).

Leaving the 1200m., POWER HUNT (S. Katsidis) commenced to overrace, got its head up and raced ungenerously for some distance when caught 3 wide.

TELLEM (M. Pelling) was inclined to overrace rounding the first turn.

Race 8: QRSE Toll/QRX H'cap - 1200m.
1st - Picablu 2nd - Pure Octane 3rd - She's Decent 4th - Tornado Alley

MINER'S UNION (G. Colless) jumped awkwardly and lost ground at the start.

MIGHTY ICON (K. Cunningham) jumped awkwardly.

SPINARDO (M. Dorrington) also jumped awkwardly and shifted out abruptly.

KUTALO (G. McKeon) was trapped wide rounding the first turn and was forced to race wide for the majority of the race.

At the 300m., PICABLU (D. Browne) shifted out to improve and brushed PURE OCTANE (S. Galloway).
