SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

As S. Katsidis was ill, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.

Race 1: QRSE Freestyle Pools Gold Coast NMW F&M H'cap - 1350m.
1st - Cha Cha D'Amour 2nd - Discord 3rd - Lion Queen 4th - Gypsy Minx

At the start, YODELLING DIXIE (M. Cahill) jumped awkwardly, brushing the outside gate.

LION QUEEN (B. Rawiller) was slow to move when the gates were released, losing ground, and then was held up for a clear passage from the 400m. until near the 200m..

Near the 850m., SUNLADY (M. Pelling) shifted in slightly, tightening SANTA AURELIA (D. McLellan) on to CHA CHA D'AMOUR (S. Galloway), which eased. LION QUEEN, which was racing behind, also eased. Jockey M. Pelling, rider of SUNLADY, was advised to exercise greater care in future.

Near the 500m., MUSHOOD (A. Best) shifted out, causing SUNLADY to ease.

Approaching the 70m., SUNLADY shifted in, brushing MUSHOOD.

GYPSY MINX was held up for a clear passage from the 400m. until the 100m..





Race 2: QRSE Richmond Grove Watervale Riesling CG&E NMW H'cap - 1350m.
1st - Doonan Dancer 2nd - Mr Hornblower 3rd - Arrowsweep 4th - Power Express

JADE CITY was a late scratching at 2.47 p.m. after the gelding refused to enter the barriers. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on JADE CITY were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 6 cents in the dollar of the face value of win bets, 7 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets. Trainer B. McLachlan was advised that they would have to provide a barrier certificate for JADE CITY prior to its next race start.

Near the 800m., KID TREASURE (G. Palmer) threw its head in the air when overracing.

Approaching the 750m., O'MEE BOY (M. Cahill), when racing greenly, brushed the running rail, becoming unbalanced.

Near the 500m., MR HORNBLOWER (C. Spry) eased from the heels of POWER EXPRESS (D. Beasley).

A post-race veterinary examination of MR HORNBLOWER revealed the gelding had sustained a laceration to the front of the near fore coronet.


Race 3: Richmond Grove Barossa Shiraz Class 6 H'cap - 1615m.
1st - Zauberei 2nd - Ra Ra Rulenza 3rd - Mr Lister 4th - Strong Suit

On jumping away RA RA RULENZA (C. Munce) knuckled.

STRONG SUIT (M. Pelling) blundered on jumping away.

An inquiry was opened into interference suffered by RA RA RULENZA (C. Munce) near the 1400m.. It was established that ZAUBEREI (J. Byrne) shifted in, tightening STRONG SUIT on to RA RA RULENZA (C. Munce), which checked, losing ground. J. Byrne, rider of ZAUBEREI, was issued with a severe reprimand and told to give riders on his inside more room in future.

LEICA LAUNCH (Z. Purton) travelled wide in the middle stages.

Near the 250m., RA RA RULENZA was held up for a short distance between YIASOU SYDNEY (C. Karakatsanis) and STRONG SUIT (M. Pelling).

At the same stage, MR LISTER (S. Seamer) was buffeted when attempting to secure a run between MY CHINESE KING (M. Cahill) and TINYBOW (K. Pope).


Race 4: Richmond Grove Padthaway Chardonnay Golden Stakes 2yo Stakes QTIS - 1200m.
1st - Foolish 2nd - Katsidis 3rd - Aristocracy 4th - My Son Day

At the start, KATSIDIS (J. Ford) jumped outwards.

MY SON DAY (G. Palmer) was slow to move when the gates were released, losing ground, and between the 500m. and 400m. was held up for a clear passage.


Approaching the 800m., KATSIDIS and STREETS OF FIRE (B. Rawiller) brushed, resulting in STREETS OF FIRE shifting outwards around the turn.

Near the 800m., FOOLISH (G. Lynch) threw its head in the air when eased to avoid the heels of BLOOMIN LOVELY (M. Usher).

Near the 500m., KATSIDIS and MY SON DAY bumped.

Approaching the 350m, ARISTOCRACY (S. Galloway) shifted out, bumping VICARAGE GATE (Z. Purton), and shortly afterwards ARISTOCRACY and VOCALIC (S. King) brushed.

From its wide barrier, UPILIO was forced to cover extra ground for the entire journey.

The club's veterinary surgeon reported that UPILIO was slightly shin sore in the off foreleg following the event. Trainer L. Birchley was advised he would have to produce a veterinary certificate of fitness before the colt's next race start.


Race 5: Richmond Grove Lord Mayor's Cup Group 3 - 2020m.
1st - Tickle 2nd - Platinum Scissors 3rd - Raw Instinct 4th - Regal Punch

JEREMIAD was incorrectly shown in the racebook as wearing blinkers. It was confirmed that the gelding does not carry such gear, nor has it at its last 2 starts. A public announcement was made to this effect.

At the start, TOULOUSE LAUTREC (S. Galloway) lost ground when tightened between LAWLER (Z. Purton) and WE CAN'T SAY THAT (M. Cahill).

ARENA VALADORA (D. Beasley) jumped in at the start, brushing KOHNRAY STAR (J. Ford) on to TICKLE (S. Seamer), which in turn shifted inwards, brushing SHADY BRADY (G. Palmer).

LAWLER (Z. Purton) pulled hard in the early and middle stages.

Near the 1400m., TOULOUSE LAUTREC, which was pulling hard, was checked from the heels of LAWLER (Z. Purton).

Near the 800m., TOULOUSE LAUTREC was forced wide when LAWLER shifted outwards.

Approaching the 600m., ARENA VALADORA (D. Beasley) blundered and was eased out of the race. A veterinary examination of ARENA VALADORA revealed the gelding had pulled up lame in the off foreleg. Trainer J. Everson was advised that he would have to provide a veterinary certificate of soundness for the horse prior to its next race start.

Leaving the 600m., RAW INSTINCT (J. Byrne) shifted out to improve its position, forcing TOULOUSE LAUTREC wider on the track, which was then forced to race extremely wide until after making the home turn.

RAW INSTINCT (J. Byrne), LAWLER and WE CAN'T SAY THAT (M. Cahill) raced wide rounding the home turn.

Specimens were also taken from PLATINUM SCISSORS and RAW INSTINCT.

Race 6: Richmond Grove BTC Classic QTIS Group 3 3yo - 1350m.
1st - Gumnuts 2nd - Rich Megadale 3rd - Aqua D'Amore 4th - Star Shiraz

AQUA D'AMORE was examined at the barriers after becoming fractious and passed fit to start.

At the start, SON OF DANE (N. Jolly) jumped in, tightening VERTICE (D McLellan).

DOONAN (M. Pelling) jumped out at the start, bumping COME IN SPANNER, which was forced outwards in checking to avoid the heels of ANKARET (D. Beadman).

Approaching the 900m., AQUA D'AMORE (C. Munce) shifted in, causing GUMNUTS (J. Byrne) to ease, resulting in DOONAN (M. Pelling) easing and shift inwards, tightening HIT THE ROAD (B. Rawiller), which became unbalanced, striking the rail. C. Munce was told to exercise more care in future.

C. Munce, rider of AQUA D'AMORE, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a), in that approaching the 800m., he allowed his mount to shift in applying undue pressure to ANKARET (D. Beadman), which checked and shifted in, tightening SHILO (S. Galloway), which became unbalanced, striking the running rail. C. Munce was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 9 meetings, to commence at midnight, 14 May at the expiration of a previously incurred suspension in New South Wales, and to expire at midnight, 29 May 2005. C. Munce was also fined the sum of $3000.

Leaving the 900m., WAGER (D. Beasley) steadied from the heels of SON OF DANE, which shifted inwards.

Near the 100m., HIT THE ROAD shifted in, bumping GARTH (S. Seamer).

HIT THE ROAD (B. Rawiller) was held up for a clear passage in the straight.

Specimens were also taken from RICH MEGADALE and AQUA D'AMORE

Race 7: Richmond Grove BTC Cup Group 2 - 1200m.
1st - Spark Of Life 2nd - St. Basil 3rd - Regimental Gal 4th - Takeover Target

SIR BREAKFAST (M. Pelling) jumped outwards at the start, bumping ONLY WORDS (S. Galloway) on to PUBLIC OPINION (S. Seamer).

SHOW BIZ KID (D. Beasley) jumped awkwardly and shortly after bumped ST. BASIL (M. Cahill).

After passing the 1100m., DANE SHADOW (B. Stewart) shifted in and steadied from the heels of ONLY WORDS (S. Galloway).

At the top of the straight when eased out to obtain clear running, TAKEOVER TARGET (J. Ford) blundered and shifted out, bumping IMPALER (D. Spriggs).

HIDDEN DRAGON (S. King) had difficulty obtaining clear running from the 400m. and shifted out near the 150m., causing SHOW BIZ KID, which had also been held up for clear running, to ease.

Near the 300m., RED OOG (D. McLellan) steadied from the heels of SIR BREAKFAST (M. Pelling).

Approaching the winning post, SIR BREAKFAST (M. Pelling), SHOW BIZ KID and HIDDEN DRAGON (S. King) bumped.

Specimens were also taken from REGIMENTAL GAL and ST. BASIL.


Race 8: Richmond Grove Coonawarra Cabernet Class 6 H'cap - 1020m.
1st - Applicant 2nd - Lil Elsa 3rd - Save Me Some 4th - Carolina's Boy

Shortly after the start, NORTHERN GAME (N. Thomas) shifted in, causing ASIMBA (K. Cunningham) to ease.

Near the 850m., NORTHERN GAME, when racing fiercely, steadied from the heels of HELTER SKELTER (B. Hull), and near the 600m., shifted in, brushing the hind quarters of KATABATIC (M. Cahill).

Near the 300m., HELTER SKELTER shifted out, forcing CAROLINA'S BOY (A. Best) wider on the track.

Near the 150m., HELTER SKELTER shifted out under pressure, bumping CAROLINA'S BOY and slightly inconveniencing APPLICANT on its outside. B. Hull, rider of HELTER SKELTER, was forced to stop riding and straighten HELTER SKELTER.
