SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS
Jockey S. Galloway was fined $100 for weighing in in excess of half a kilogram overweight in Race 5 at the Eagle Farm meeting on Sunday, 15.5.2005.
Race 1: QRSE Air New Zealand Gunsynd Quality 3yo H'cap - 1200m.
1st - All Bar One 2nd - A Little Naughty 3rd - Any Suggestion 4th - Sharp Aunty
BECKS (B. Shinn) and MAN OF ILLUSION (A. Pattillo) came together on jumping away.
TRANSMUTATION (J. Ford) was slow to begin.
SHARP AUNTY (D. Beadman) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with ROUTE SIXTY SIX (S. Seamer).
A LITTLE NAUGHTY (J. Byrne) shifted out at the start, making contact with DOONAN (H. Bowman).
Approaching the 800m., MAN OF ILLUSION (A. Pattillo), which was inclined to lay out, had to be steadied off the heels of A LITTLE NAUGHTY (J. Byrne).
At the 800m., ENCIERRO (C. Whiteley) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ANY SUGGESTION (S. Katsidis), which shifted in.
STEP RIGHT IN (M. Pelling) was inclined to lay out rounding the first turn.
In the early stages of the straight, ANY SUGGESTION was inclined to lay in.
Near the 150m., SHARP AUNTY (D. Beadman) shifted out to improve and brushed BECKS (B. Shinn).
TIVOLI DANCER (Z. Purton) was forced to raced wide throughout.
A veterinary examination of DOONAN (H. Bowman), which performed below expectations, revealed no abnormality. Jockey H. Bowman could not offer any tangible explanation for the horse's performance, and trainer Mrs H. Page was of the opinion that the horse may not have backed up since its last start 6 days ago.
Race 2: Network 1MW Last Year H'cap - 1200m.
1st - Weaishe 2nd - Charmview 3rd - Royal Mask 4th - Late For Tea
Shortly after the start, ROYAL MASK (S. Galloway) had to be steadied when tightened for room between SOUND THE ALARM (J. Byrne) and GILDED YOUTH (B. Shinn), which was inclined to shift in away from TREASURE THE KWILA (S. Katsidis).
SOUND THE ALARM commenced to overrace approaching the 1000m. and the horse raced fiercely for some distance until allowed to stride forward to the lead. SOUND THE ALARM then compounded over the concluding stages. When questioned, trainer S. Dwyer agreed that the horse was disappointing and he would experiment with gear changes in an endeavour to have the horse race more truly. A veterinary examination of SOUND THE ALARM failed to reveal any abnormality.
Leaving the 800m., JAZZ FUND (S. Seamer) was inclined to hang out, taking TREASURE THE KWILA (S. Katsidis) wider on the track. TREASURE THE KWILA was then obliged to race wide throughout.
Approaching the 700m. SOLID AS A ROCK (D. Beasley) had to be steadied after improving on to the heels of STAR GROOM (G. Palmer).
On straightening, SOLID AS A ROCK (D. Beasley) became held up behind APPLICANT (G. McKeon) and approaching the 200m., D. Beasley attempted to take a run to the inside of APPLICANT (G. McKeon), however to avoid causing interference to ALGORITHM (A. Pattillo), he elected to steady SOLID AS A ROCK and the horse then was unable to obtain clear running for the remainder of the race.
ROYAL MASK (S. Galloway) and LATE FOR TEA were both held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.
Near the 300m., KING'S COUP (J. Sharp) shifted in and made contact with the hind quarters of TREASURE THE KWILA (S. Katsidis).
Near the 100m., GILDED YOUTH (B. Shinn) attempted to take a run between STAR GROOM (G. Palmer) and APPLICANT (G. McKeon) where there was not fully sufficient room and in doing so made contact with APPLICANT.
Race 3: Glenlogan Park F & M Stakes - 1350m.
1st - Beautiful Gem 2nd - Pentelikon 3rd - Wasimah 4th - Tui Song
Correct weight was delayed to allow B. Shinn, rider of the 2nd placegetter, PENTELIKON, to exercise his right to view the video. After viewing the film, he did not proceed with a protest.
AU CHOCOLAT (M. Pelling) blundered on jumping away.
At the start, NAVARRO (G. Scimone) and WITH MY (Z. Purton) were tightened between JUST POLITE (H. Bowman) and TUI SONG (D. Beasley), which shifted out.
WASIMAH (J. Byrne) jumped inwards at the start, making contact with SILK AND MONEY (D. Spriggs).
Approaching the 400m., BEAUTIFUL GEM (D. Beadman) shifted out to improve and made contact with SILK AND HONEY.
TUI SONG was held up in the early stages of the straight.
Approaching the 200m., OUR SWEET MOSS (S. Katsidis) was inclined to lay in behind the heels of MARDI GRAS (S. Galloway) and when attempting to take a run between MARDI GRAS and BEAUTIFUL GEM (D. Beadman), OUR SWEET MOSS became unbalanced when racing in restricted room between both horses which shifted ground.
At the 150m., TUI SONG, which had been held up, shifted out to improve, taking SILK AND
HONEY out on JUST POLITE.
LIL ELSA (J. Ford) was unable to obtain clear running at any stage in the straight and the horse went to the line untested.
Race 4: City Pacific Finance Champagne Classic QTIS 2yo Group 3 - 1200m.
1st - Virage De Fortune 2nd - Kincharm 3rd - Well Noted 4th - Just The Star
ENCHELLE was a late scratching at 1.54 p.m. when the horse was unable to be loaded. The connections of ENCHELLE were advised that a barrier certificate would be required before the horse again races. Following the late withdrawal, all monies invested on ENCHELLE were ordered to be refunded in full and no deductions applied.
BOLD SEQUALO (S. Galloway) jumped out at the start, forcing LOW PROFILE (G. McKeon) out on to MANILLA BOY (H. Bowman).
Shortly after the start, ACCELERATION (B. Shinn) shifted in and made heavy contact with MANILLA BOY.
Approaching the 800m., COCCOLARE (D. Spriggs) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of JUST THE STAR (S. Seamer), which shifted in.
MANILLA BOY was forced to race wide throughout.
Race 5: Brisbane Riverview Doomben Roses 3yo QTIS Group 3 - 2020m.
1st - Cinque Cento 2nd - Ponte Piccolo 3rd - Fiery Sunset 4th - Vitesse Dane
GLEN SHIAN (S. King) was slow to begin.
CINQUE CENTO (J. Sheehan) and FIERY SUNSET (J. Ford) jumped away awkwardly.
Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, PONTE PICCOLO (S. Seamer) steadied to avoid the heels of DON'T TELL CLANG (J. Byrne), which shifted in.
J. Byrne, rider of DON'T TELL CLANG (J. Byrne) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that passing the winning post on the first occasion, he permitted his mount to shift in, causing AMBER LODGE (S. Katsidis) to be checked and as a result shifted out, taking PONTE PICCOLO (S. Seamer) out on to ROSE OF DESTINY, which when being checked blundered, dislodging M. Pelling. As a result of this incident, the following horses were checked to varying degrees: SERENOTE, CINCINNATI GAL, COMMAND DECISION and JADE FLYER (J. Sharp). J. Byrne was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by one calendar month, to commence at midnight, Wednesday, 25 May and to expire at midnight, Saturday, 25 June 2005.
AFRAH (D. Beasley) was caught wide in the early stages.
Approaching the 1400m., SERENOTE (Z. Purton) got its head up and was inclined to race ungenerously.
When the pace steadied leaving the 1200m., VITESSE DANE (H. Bowman) shifted out, inconveniencing GLEN SHIAN (S. King).
Near the 900m., AFRAAH, which raced in restricted room between MOSS MANIA (D. Nikolic) and the riderless horse, and then at the 850m. had to be checked to avoid the heels of the riderless horse.
At the 400m., VITESSE DANE (H. Bowman) had to be checked off the heels of the tiring MOSS MANIA (D. Nikolic).
At the 350m., SERENOTE (Z. Purton), which was travelling strongly, ran up on to the heels of CINQUE CENTO (J. Sheehan) and then had to be checked, shifted out abruptly, forcing CINCINNATI GAL (B. Shinn) out on to COMMAND DECISION (S. Galloway), which became unbalanced when bumped heavily on its hind quarters.
J. Sheehan, rider of CINQUE CENTO, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that approaching the 150m. he permitted his mount to shift in under riding, which resulted in DON'T TELL CLANG having to be checked. J. Sheehan was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 9 meetings, to commence at midnight, 21 May, and to expire at midnight, 9 June 2005. J. Sheehan was also fined the sum of $2000.
J. Sheehan, rider of CINQUE CENTO, was reprimanded for making a celebratory gesture prior to the finish line.
Race 6: Lyndhurst Stud Doomben Classic QTIS 3yo Group 3 - 1615m.
1st - Saxon 2nd - Willy Leica 3rd - Western Beau 4th - Legendary Man
Approaching the 1400m., ANWAAR (D. Beasley) shifted out slightly, inconveniencing CATECLIPSE (S. Katsidis).
VILLA BLED (G. Schimone) was caught wide rounding the first turn and raced wide throughout.
Approaching the 200m., ACTIVATION (D. Nikolic) shifted out and attempted a tight run between ANWAAR and VILLA BLED. When doing so, ACTIVATION then shifted out and made contact with ROVING OWL (B. Shinn), forcing that horse to become unbalanced when making contact with the hind quarters of SHILO (S. Galloway). ACTIVATION was then held up for clear running and the horse went to the finish line untested.
Passing the 150m., VILLA BLED, which was tiring, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of CATECLIPSE (S. Katsidis), which shifted in under pressure.
Near the finish line, SPECIAL TIMES (Z. Purton) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SAXON (S. Seamer).
Race 7: Carlton Draught Doomben 10,000 Group 1 - 1350m.
1st - Red Oog 2nd - Our Egyptian Raine 3rd - Only Words 4th - Show Biz Kid
As M. Pelling was injured after riding in race 5, N. Harris was substituted as the rider of SHOW BIZ KID. As there was no other rider available to ride the horse at the weight, stewards approved C. Whiteley to ride RA RA RULENZA in race 8 1 kilogram overweight.
TAKEOVER TARGET was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon prior to this race and found to have sustained a small laceration to its tongue. TAKEOVER TARGET was passed to start.
Shortly after the start, SEDECREM (S. Katsidis) was tightened for room between YELL (A. Pattillo) and PROUDLY AGRO (G. Palmer), which shifted in slightly.
Passing the 1200m., SKY CUDDLE (B. Shinn) shifted in of its own accord and made heavy contact with the running rail. PATEZZA (D. Nikolic) was slightly inconvenienced in this incident.
PROUDLY AGRO (G. Palmer) commenced to hang out leaving the 800m. and continued to hang out for the remainder of the race, placing G. Palmer at a disadvantage. Trainer B. Bowditch was advised that a warning was being placed on PROUDLY AGRO regarding its racing manners.
CONSULAR (S. Arnold) was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
As a result of general movement from the inside, TOP MARC (C. Whiteley) had to be steadied when forced wider on the track on the home turn.
Approaching the 200m., SHOW BIZ KID (N. Harris) was held up for clear running.
Passing the 100m., SEDECREM (S. Katsidis) was cramped for room between OSCA WARRIOR (J. Sheehan) and SKY CUDDLE (B. Shinn), which shifted out.
Near the finish line, WAGER (D. Beasley) shifted ground under pressure, taking SKY CUDDLE out on to SEDECREM, which again had to be steadied inside OSCA WARRIOR.
On the finish line, SHOW BIZ KID (N. Harris) was tightened for room inside TAKEOVER TARGET, which shifted in.
ONLY WORDS (R. Quinn), REGIMENTAL GAL (J. Byrne) and TOP MARC (C. Whiteley) were all obliged to race wide throughout.
When questioned as to OSCA WARRIOR (J. Sheehan) settling back further in the field then anticipated, J. Sheehan stated that the horse did not have the pace to go with the better drawn horses on his inside.
Race 8: Sky Channel Chairman's H'cap Quality Group 3 - 2020m.
1st - Zingam 2nd - Classic Karla 3rd - Chinbok 4th - Natural Woman
A veterinary examination of ZINGAM prior to this event revealed the horse had sustained a minor laceration in the off nostril. ZINGAM was passed to start.
Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, PENITENTIARY (J. Byrne) ran up on to the heels of LACHLAN RIVER (G Scimone) and shifted out abruptly, making contact with JACKMAN (M. Cant).
Approaching the 1600m., SAILOR'S LARK (G. McKeon) had to be steadied off the heels of DESERT FLIGHT (B. Shinn), which when pulling hard, shifted in away from NATURAL WOMAN (Z. Purton).
After passing the 1600m., FOREST JIM (A. Pattillo) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of DESERT FLIGHT (B. Shinn), which was taken in slightly by NATURAL WOMAN (Z. Purton).
CHINBOK (A. Best) was forced to race wide in the early stages.
Approaching the 600m., DESERT FLIGHT ran up on to the heels of NATURAL WOMAN and had to be steadied.
Nearing the 400m. ON A HIGH (S. Katsidis) shifted out to improve and made contact with LACHLAN RIVER (G. Scimone).
Nearing the 300m., FILANTE ETOILE (S. Seamer) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of the tiring SAILOR'S LARK.
J. Ford, rider of VOLKSINI, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that he permitted his mount to shift out approaching the 100m. when not sufficiently clear of FILANTE ETOILE (S. Seamer), resulting in that horse being taken out on to FOREST JIM (A. Pattillo), which had to be checked and come into contact with SUNDAY SERVICE (D. Spriggs). J. Ford was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 21 May, and to expire at midnight, 8 June. J. Ford was also fined the sum of $1000.
