SEQUENJAR (M. Cahill) missed the start.

JUNGLE SONG (K. Purdy) jumped away awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with REGINA DESERT (G. Colless).

JUNGLE SONG was inclined to get its head up and race ungenerously rounding the first turn.

CUDLEE CREEK (M. Morris) was obliged to race wide for the majority of the event.

Approaching the 800m ONYAMARQUE (S. Drake) improved inside the heels of MODERN GLAMOUR (M. Rice), where there was insufficient room, when MODERN GLAMOUR shifted out slightly. S. Drake was cautioned for improving into a tight run where there was not fully surfficient room when MODERN GLAMOUR rolled out slightly.

ONYAMARQUE was held up for clear running until after leaving the 200m.

When questioned as to the somewhat disappointing performance of REGINA DESERT, G. Colless could offer no explanation other than that the horse’s best form appears to have been on rain-affected tracks. Trainer P. Duff agreed that the horse’s recent form has been on rain-affected tracks at the Sunshine Coast and could offer no other excuse for the performance today.

Race 2: ALBERT VALLEY PROPERTIES 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1350M
1st – Screen Siren 2nd - Junas 3rd – Thunder Beach 4th – Grand Laddie

SCREEN SIREN (G. Colless) was a little slow to jump.

Leaving the 1200m LION’S PRIDE (R. Plumb) was inclined to race ungenerously.

GRAND LADDIE (B. Stewart) was also inclined to race ungenerously after leaving the 1200m and near the 900m shifted in forcing LION’S PRIDE on the rails.

Near the 600m THUNDER BEACH (M. Radecker) shifted out off the heels of ATILLAS DANE (K. Wharton) and brushed GRAND LADDIE.

JUNAS (S. Seamer) hung out under pressure on straightening.

Near the 900m SEATTLE SWEEP (B. Stewart) shifted in and bumped the hind quarters of SOUTHERN SISTER (J. Holder). LIONOVA (S. Drake), which was following, got its head up and raced ungenerously for some distance.

DANLASS (T. Pannell) was also inclined to overrace rounding the first turn.

SEATTLE SWEEP was inclined to hang out after leaving the 700m.

FIELDING (K. Wharton) became unbalanced leaving the 600m when DANLASS shifted out to improve.

Approaching the 250m CUVEE KISS shifted out and made contact with FIELDING.

Race 4: INSIGHT GROUP CLASS 4 H’CAP – 2050M

IT’S THE VIBE (R. Plumb) missed the start.

Race 5: WORK DIRECTIONS AUSTRALIA F&M CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1200M
1st - Nepro 2nd - Sequablue 3rd - Framboise 4th - Unswerving

SHINKICKIN COWGIRL (M. Radecker) jumped away awkwardly and missed the start.

LESMARTRE (D. Green) was also a little slow to jump.

Approaching the 800m SOLITAIRE GEM (L. Morrison) shifted in, making heavy contact with EXCEPTIONS (M. Price), causing that horse to become momentarily unbalanced.

Near the 700m LESMARTRE had to be checked when racing to the inside of UNSWERVING (R. McMahon), which was tightened for room by EXCEPTIONS when that horse had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SOLITAIRE GEM which shifted in slightly. L. Morrison, the rider of SOLITAIRE GEM, was severely reprimanded under AR. 137(a) and instructed to exercise more care in similar circumstances. In this incident CRÈME BRULEE (S. Drake) was slightly inconvenienced.

SHINKICKIN COWGIRL was held up in the early stages of the straight and near the 200m, when attempting to gain clear running, shifted in abruptly, making contact with the running rail.

Following the race, EXCEPTIONS was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon who reported that the horse was exhibiting an abnormal respiratory noise.

Race 6: DAVBRIDGE CONSTRUCTIONS H’CAP – 1110M
1st – Northern Game 2nd – Sun Spinner 3rd – Mighty Victory 4th – Solid As A Rock

As C. Spry was indisposed P. Wolfgram was substituted as the rider of KING’S VALOUR.

Apprentice L. Fyfe, the rider of 4th placegetter AMBER LODGE, was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts right to the finish of the race.

Following the running of this event, the track was downgraded to DEAD.

Race 8: DKM GROUP C,G&E CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1200M
1st - Junk Bond 2nd – Defend The Hill 3rd - Beecadd 4th – Mardi Magrar

On return to scale, a protest was lodged by A. Pattillo, the rider of 4th placegetter MARDI MAGRAR, against BEECADD (R. McMahon) being declared 3rd on the grounds of interference near the 600m and again near the 500m. Whilst stewards found that near the 600m MARDI MAGRAR, which was inclined to lay out, was hampered by BEECADD which shifted in momentarily, and near the 500m that MARDI MAGRAR was momentarily cramped when racing in restricted room inside BEECADD, taking into account the margin of three-quarters of a length which separated both horses at the finish and the degree of interference suffered, the protest was dismissed and A. Pattillo was subsequently fined $100 under AR. 165(3) for lodging a frivolous protest.

Near the 400m DEFEND THE HILL (R. Plumb) became unbalanced and shifted in abruptly tightening LEARNED LEO (N. Thomas), causing that horse to strike the running rail.
