Race 1: WATPAC 0MW LY H’CAP – 2100M
1st – King Latarmiss 2nd – Outside The Flags 3rd – The Real Rokocoko 4th – Marscay’s Image
MIDNIGHT AVENUE (C. Spry) and HOPESON (M. Price) were tightened on jumping away between KING LARARMISS (S. Scriven) and THE REAL ROKOCOKO (R. McMahon), both of which shifted ground at the start.
YOSSARIAN (R. Plumb) and RICCOLO (K. Forrester) were slow to jump.
LEGAL BRIEF (L. Morrison) knuckled on jumping away.
YOSSARIAN was caught three wide after the start and raced three wide for the entire event.
L. Morrison, the rider of LEGAL BRIEF, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a), the careless riding being that near the 2000m she permitted her mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of DREAM GAL (J. Byrne), resulting in DREAM GAL having to be checked by its rider. L. Morrison’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Thursday, 2 November, and expire at midnight on Wednesday, 15 November 2006.
KING LATARMISS was cramped for room near the 200m between MARSCAY’S IMAGE (B. El-Issa) and OUTSIDE THE FLAGS (M. Cahill) which shifted in.
Race 2: JOHNSON CONTROLS STARLET QTIS H’CAP – 1010M
1st – Carry On Kosa 2nd - Anabarbarian 3rd – Atomic Huss 4th - Falvalea
As J. Bowditch was unable to arrive on course on time due to traffic difficulties, K. Forrester was substituted as the rider of ONE FOR THE GIRLS.
ATOMIC HUSS reared behind the barriers, dislodging S. Scriven. A veterinary examination of ATOMIC HUSS revealed the horse was clear to race. S. Scriven was also cleared to ride. A warning was issued to the connections of ATOMIC HUSS for its behaviour at the barriers.
ONE FOR THE GIRLS (K. Forrester) jumped outwards at the start and made contact with ATOMIC HUSS (S. Scriven). MARTINI PRINCESS (T. Pannell) had to be checked in this incident when tightened between ATOMIC HUSS and GOLD OMEGA (J. Byrne) which shifted inwards away from BEGUILING STAR (R. Plumb).
GOLD OMEGA was obliged to race wide for the majority of the event.
ATOMIC HUSS, which had been held up behind the heels of CARRY ON KOSA (K. Banks) from near the 100m, shifted out to improve near the 50m, making contact with FALVALEA (M. Cahill).
Race 3: AUSTRALIAN EQUINE GENETICS RESEARCH CENTRE IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE FACULTY OF BIOLOGICAL & CHEMICAL SCIENCES H’CAP – 1615M
1st – Finder Page 2nd – Guerrouj 3rd - Pentup 4th - Cearnaigh
As S. Galloway did not arrive on course on time due to traffic difficulties, B. El-Issa was substituted as the rider of BARITONE.
MIGHTY ICON (M. Radecker) and OUR JANGLES (S. Scriven) jumped away awkwardly.
COCKTAIL SHAKER (K. Pope) got its head up and raced ungenerously rounding the first turn.
ANCIENT KING (J. Byrne) overraced rounding the first turn and continued to pull hard for some distance before tiring over the latter stages. A veterinary examination of ANCIENT KING failed to reveal any abnormalities. Ms Paroz, representing trainer M. Nolan, indicated that the horse may be coming to the end of its preparation and may well be spelled after today’s race.
Race 4: ABIGROUP 1MW H’CAP – 1350M
1st – My Song 2nd – Point Made 3rd – Cane Cutter 4th – Down To Earth
Trainer D. Smith was fined $100 under LR. 70 for failing to declare B. Stewart as the rider of SIMPLY VIV by the prescribed time.
POINT MADE (S. Seamer) and CRAIGLEA WARRIOR (J. Byrne) raced wide throughout.
Approaching the 1000m LA BELLE VITESSE (J. Bowditch) shifted in and made contact with DOWN TO EARTH (G. Colless) on several occasions. J. Bowditch was instructed to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Race 5: JOHN BARNES LOCKSMITHS QTIS H’CAP – 1200M
1st – Wesley Manor 2nd – Cocktail Supreme 3rd - Moglich 4th - Elanet
CARRY TO GLORY was a late scratching at 12.30 p.m. on veterinary advice.
DIVINITY DASH (J. Bowditch) was caught wide rounding the first turn and raced wide throughout.
WINAURA (M. Radecker) got its head up and refused to settle rounding the first turn.
Race 6: AAPT 1MW LY H’CAP – 1110M
1st – Single Rose 2nd - Myagi 3rd – Triple Pe 4th – Forever Amen
STARS O’ GOLD (T. Pannell) was slow to begin.
When the pace slowed leaving the 900m GULLCATCHER (M. Cahill) had to be steadied off the heels of SHE’S ALL GREEK (M. Morris) and FOREVER AMEN (M. Price) had to be steadied off the heels of MYAGI (J. Sharp). FOREVER AMEN then attempted to move away from the rails and made heavy contact with GULLCATCHER, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced and racing ungenerously for some distance.
FOREVER AMEN was accidentally galloped on by SPINARDO (J. Cook) near the 700m. A veterinary examination confirmed that FOREVER AMEN sustained a laceration inside the off hind cannon and on the hock.
DESKTOP MAGIC (S. Seamer) raced wide throughout.
Race 7: QRSE NEC IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE FACULTY OF SOCIAL & BEHAVIOURAL SCIENCES – 1350M
1st - Damigos 2nd – Shepishir 3rd – Countess Bathory 4th – Enthusiast
ABU SIMBEL (J. Taylor) and GAME ON (S. Galloway) were both a little slow to jump.
GRAB THE PHONE (B. El-Issa) blundered badly on jumping away, almost dislodging its rider.
SERENOTE (R. Plumb) was caught wide after the start and raced wide throughout.
Near the 1200m ENTHUSIAST (S. Scriven) shifted in making heavy contact with DOONAN DANCER (K. Forrester), forcing that horse on to the rails.
Near the 200m GRAB THE PHONE had to be steadied off the heels of SERENOTE (R. Plumb).
Near the 150m MAGIC MARVO (S. Seamer) shifted out abruptly off the heels of DOONAN DANCER.
DIAMONDSONDINSIDE (J. Byrne) had to be steadied close to the finishing line after improving quickly on to the heels of COUNTESS BATHORY (M. Palmer).
Race 8: UNI QUEST PLATE – 1200M
1st – Mr Hornblower 2nd – Clevergaze 3rd – Testimonial 4th – Oh Ruby
Passing the 900m OH RUBY (J. Cook) was tightened for room by COCCOLARE (J. Byrne) which improved inside the heels of MYNDOS (K. Banks).
Apprentice R. Plumb, the rider of TORNADIC SKY, was cautioned for permitting his mount to shift in near the 1100m which resulted in ROTARIAN (M. Palmer) being taken inwards.
Apprentice R. Plumb, the rider of TORNADIC SKY, was reprimanded under AR. 137(a) for permitting his mount to shift in approaching the 800m resulting in MIGHTY VICTORY (J. Bowditch) being tightened for room and LUKE’S TURN (R. McMahon) becoming unbalanced and contacting the running rail.
CLEVERGAZE (S. Seamer) was caught wide rounding the first turn and raced wide for the entire event.
T. Pannell, the rider of TESTIMONIAL, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a), the careless riding being that near the 300m he permitted his mount to shift out when not sufficiently clear of CHOSEN GODDESS (N. Thomas), resulting in CHOSEN GODDESS having to be checked. T. Pannell’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Wednesday, 1 November, and expire at midnight on Sunday, 12 November 2006.
COCCOLARE (J. Byrne) had difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight.
Approaching the 100m AIM SO HIGH (S. Katsidis) raced in restricted room between ROTARIAN (M. Palmer), which shifted in, and MIGHTY VICTORY (J. Bowditch). Apprentice M. Palmer was cautioned and advised to take greater measures to keep his mounts straight.
