Race 1: CITY PACIFIC FINANCE SANDGATE 2YO H’CAP – 1110M
1st – Puss ‘N’ Boots 2nd – Falco Star 3rd - Jellicles 4th – Crypt

FALCO STAR (S. Scriven) jumped away awkwardly.

BROMS GIRL (G. Colless), which jumped away awkwardly, had to be steadied a short distance later when tightened for room between GIBRALTAR SHOW (R. Plumb) and JELLICLES (M. Cahill) ) which shifted out

CAJUN MOON (M. Radecker) was slow to begin.

Passing the 900m REVINDICATE (B. Stewart) had to be steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of CRYPT (S. Drake) which shifted in and away from FALCO STAR.

Passing the 800m CAJUN MOON had to be steadied to avoid the heels of MEGAPIKE (S. Seamer), which was overracing on the heels of REVINDICATE, shifted out. MEGAPIKE continued to shift out and near the 600m had to be steadied off the heels of AKOYA (J. Holder).

AKOYA, PELLTRO (P. Wolfgram), and BROMS GIRL were forced to race wide for the majority of the event.

Near the 400m FALCO STAR shifted out to improve and made contact with GIBRALTAR SHOW.

Shortly after straightening AKOYA had to be checked when attempting a narrow run between BOSCOBABE (M. Price), which shifted out slightly, and GIBRALTAR SHOW which, when racing greenly, shifted in slightly.

A post-race veterinary examination of REVINDICATE revealed the gelding to be shin sore in the off foreleg. Trainer G. Heinrich was advised that she must produce a veterinary clearance for REVINDICATE prior to its next start.

Race 2: CALL 13 62 55 H’CAP – 2020M
1st – Milady Clang 2nd – Diamondsondinside 3rd – My Chinese King 4th – Grand Lover

No racing incidents.

Race 3: WE MEAN BUSINESS H’CAP – 1350M
1st – Oh Ruby 2nd – Peaceful Honour 3rd – Hayil’s Magic 4th – Charlie Cheese

NALA was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon prior to the start and passed fit to race.

PEACEFUL HONOUR (B. El-Issa) was tightened on jumping away betwewen ACCELERATION (P. Wolfgram) and CHARLIE CHEESE (M. Price).

SO SPICY (M. Morris) jumped away awkwardly.

WELCOME SITE (S. Drake) overraced in the early stages and had to be steadied off the heels of CHARLIE CHEESE near the 900m.

LEA MARIS (S. Seamer) was forced to race wide throughout.

Near the 850m SEISMIC LADY (J. Holder) improved on to the heels of OH RUBY (J. Cook) and had to be steadied.

In the early stages of the straight PEACEFUL HONOUR had difficulty obtaining clear running and passing the 300m shifted out in an endeavour to improve and made contact with SEISMIC LADY.

WELCOME SITE had difficulty obtaining clear running for the majority of the straight.

Near the 200m PEACEFUL HONOUR was accidentally struck over the nose by the whip of S. Seamer (LEA MARIS).

Race 4: FINANCE TO GO 0MW LY H’CAP – 1615M
1st – Mining Silver 2nd – Prend 3rd – Motivate 4th – Danefull

MINING SILVER (A. Coome) was slow to begin.

Near the 1200m CASACO shifted in and made contact with the running rail of its own accord.

PEEL (R. McMahon) overraced in the early stages and passing the 1200m shifted out off the heels of CASACO (C. Spry), forcing MIGHTY ICON (M. Radecker) wider. PEEL then continued to race ungenerously on the heels of SNIPPETY SNIP (S. Scriven).

MIGHTY ICON and MOTIVATE (J. Byrne) were forced to race wide for the majority of the event.

Near the 1000m SNIPPETY SNIP (S. Scriven), which was overracing on the heels of PARTY EXPRESS (G. Colless), shifted in despite the efforts of its rider, tightening PREND (M. Cahill). PREND lost ground and as a result CASACO, which was following, also had to be steadied and shifted out and made contact with the hind quarters of PEEL. SNIPPETY SNIP then continued to overrace for a short distance.

Near the 700m JACKSON HILL (R. Plumb) shifted out and made contact with PARTY EXPRESS (G. Colless) on several occasions.

Approaching the 200m PEEL endeavoured to take a narrow run between PREND and PARTY EXPRESS, which was taken out by JACKSON HILL.

Race 5: CHRISTMAS CHEERS 3YO H’CAP – 1200M
1st – Grand Reve 2nd – Falconten 3rd – Cruskit 4th – Sequential Charm

IMA JOKER, which broke through the front gate and galloped a lap of the track, was a late scratching at 2:56 p.m. UNINTENTIONAL, which was fractious in the barriers, was also a late scratching at 2:56 p.m. by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice. On the announcement of correct weight, stewards ordered that all monies invested on IMA JOKER and UNINTENTIONAL be refunded, with deductions of 12 cents in the dollar on the face value of win tickets and 14 cents in the dollar on the face value of place tickets applicable.

CRUSKIT (M. Cahill) was slow to begin.

Passing the 1000m BEST OF CEEDEE (B. Stewart) improved where there was insufficient room between COCKTAIL SUPREME (S. Galloway) and INSISTENCE (G. Colless) and as a result had to be steadied. SEQUENTIAL CHARM (J. Holder), which was following, had to be steadied.

SWEET AS (S. Scriven) and BEST OF CEEDEE were forced to race wide for the majority of the event.

Near the 600m CRUSKIT improved on to the heels of FALCONTEN (M. Palmer) and had to be steadied.

Passing the 300m MISTER CELESTIAL (S. Seamer) became unbalanced of its own accord and shifted out.

When questioned regarding the performance of MISTER CELESTIAL, S. Seamer stated the gelding jumped well and obtained the lead easily, however when placed under pressure shortly after straightening failed to respond to his riding. A post-race veterinary examination of MISTER CELESTIAL failed to reveal any abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.

When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of COCKTAIL SUPREME, S. Galloway stated that the horse travelled well, however he was obliged to go forward wide at a point near the 500m when he placed the gelding into the race. He added that the horse was under pressure near the 200m and in his opinion the gelding struggled under today’s weight and may be at this stage of its preparation suited to races over a longer distance. A post-race veterinary examination of COCKTAIL SUPEME failed to reveal any abnormalities.

The Club’s veterinary surgeon reported that DEMANDS RESPECT sustained a small laceration to the inside of the off fore canon.

Race 6: FREE FINANCE CHECK-UP 1MW LY H’CAP – 1110M
1st – Dance The Waves 2nd – Foolish 3rd – Panzer 4th – Stylish Qualo

Trainer T. Webb was fined $100 under LR. 70 for failing to declare C. Spry as the rider of SIR MUKAFAST by the prescribed time.

ALTERNATE was a late scratching at 8:45 a.m. when trainer L. Manzelmann failed to scratch by the prescribed time. L. Manzelmann was fined $200 under LR. 71.

CEFFYL (M. Palmer) jumped away awkwardly and lost considerable ground.

BANABOLDA (S. Seamer), SECATEURS (M. Morris) and SIR MUKAFAST (C. Spry) were all forced to race wide throughout.

Near the 250m FOOLISH (B. El-Issa) had to be momentarily eased to avoid the heels of DANCE THE WAVES (B. Stewart) which shifted in.

Approaching the 200m PANZER (J. Byrne) was obliged to race in restricted room inside MIGHTY VICTORY (J. Holder) for a short distance.

Passing the 200m STYLISH QUALO (M. Cahill) shifted in and had to be steadied off the heels of SECATEURS.

Near the 100m BANABOLDA shifted in and bumped HELTER SKELTER (R. McMahon), which in turn shifted in and bumped MIGHTY VICTORY.

SIR MUKAFAST bled from both nostrils following the event. As this was the first occasion on which the gelding had bled, it will incur the mandatory three-month ban from racing.

Race 7: QRSE CITY PACIFIC FINANCE DOOMBEN STAKES – 1350M
1st – Natural Destiny 2nd – Picaday 3rd – Hard To Catch 4th – Mr Aristos

DAMIGOS (B. Stewart) was slow to begin.

Shortly after jumping away NATURAL DESTINY (S. Treweek) blundered.

Near the 1100m OMNITRADER (B. El-Issa) had to be steadied when tightened for room by SON OF DANE (N. Jolly) which was taken in by IMPALER (P. Mertens).

PROUDLY AGRO (K. Wharton), which was overracing in the early stages, improved on to the heels of MR ARISTOS (S. Galloway) near the 600m and had to be steadied.

SON OF DANE, OMNITRADER and GRAB THE PHONE (C. Spry) were all forced to race wide for the majority of the event.

PROUDLY AGRO was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

Passing the 200m HARD TO CATCH (J. Byrne) was momentarily inconvenienced by MR ARISTOS which shifted in.

Trainer B. Bowditch reported that PROUDLY AGRO was galloped on on the off hind leg.

Race 8: FINANCE FORM GUIDE H’CAP – 1350M
1st – Lombardy 2nd – Nellie Got There 3rd – Doonan 4th – Vitruvian

Trainer B. Guy was fined $200 under LR. 70 for failing to declare M. Morris as the rider of STEP RIGHT IN by the prescribed time.

VITRUVIAN (J. Byrne) was slow to begin.

DOONAN (S. Scriven) and PAGER (R. McMahon) came together on jumping away.

OUR PRIVATE JET jumped in at the start and made contact with STEP RIGHT IN (M. Morris).

Near the 1100m BLUE OYSTER (R. Plumb) had to be steadied when momentariy tightened for room by LOMBARDY (G. Colless) which shifted in. G. Colless was reprimanded under AR. 137(a).

OUR PRIVATE JET was forced to race wide in the early stages.

DOONAN was forced to race wide throughout.

Near the 800m BLUE OYSTER (R. Plumb) improved on to the heels of THORPE (C. Spry) and had to be steadied. PAGER, CAPTAIN MAT (B. El-Issa) and STEP RIGHT IN, which were following, all had to be steadied as a consequence.

Passing the 300m ST LOUIS BLUE (B. Stewart) improved on to the heels of OUR PRIVATE JET and had to be steadied.
