His explanation was noted.

On return to scale, S. Seamer, the rider of 3rd placegetter MOGLICH, lodged an objection against IMA JOKER (M. Cahill) being declared the winner, alleging interference over the final 150m. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the official video, stewards found that although MOGLICH suffered interference approaching the 50m, they could not be completely satisfied that, given the margin separating both horses at the finish, it warranted a reversal of placings and therefore dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the Judge’s placings. At a subsequent inquiry, jockey M. Cahill pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a), the careless riding being that near the 100m he permitted IMA JOKER to shift in when insufficiently clear of DEMANDS RESPECT (J. Holder), which had to be steadied to avoid the heels of IMA JOKER, and that he continued to allow his mount to shift in approaching the 50m, tightening MOGLICH in on to HIGHLAND WINNER, which was taken in on to RING RING (K. Wharton), resulting in MOGLICH having to be steadied to avoid the heels of IMA JOKER. M. Cahill’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Thursday, 11 January, and expire at midnight on Wednesday, 24 January 2007.
